Direct essay clients - contacting students without any middlemen?

I have been in the field of academic writing for last 1 year. I have worked for various academic writing websites. However, I know that the amount that these sites charge from students is exorbitantly higher than what they pay the writers. I am even ready to work at much lower rates than what these sites ask for but I am clueless as to how can I contact students directly without any middlemen.

PS: I am based in India.

The only way is to start up your own company and spend money on advertising to build reputation first. Or you may try to use sites like elance or craigslist, but then you end up competing with hundreds or thousands of writers who eventually drive down prices below the level of academic writing service employers.

Just put up a free announcement of your services at essaychat.com.

I have landed some fantastic clients on the occasions that I've advertised there.

Actually students can not rely on the writer unless they know you in person. Its just flipping of the coin and result can be favorable or adverse for them. However, you can sell yourself in essay writing forums by disclosing your areas of expertise.

How can I get direct clients to write for?

Can anyone advice on how i can get direct clients to writer for. I'm a new freelance writer and have trouble finding a potential pool of students who would eventually become my clients.

You could email them directly or find them through freelancer websites. One of the best ways to become a recognizable writer is to start posting on forums like this one and then slowly build reputation; through your posts you can build trust among the readers / students who would eventually hire you to do their example assignments. And don't forget to create a Freelance Writer profile so that students could actually find you.

I usually stand on a street corner with one of those arrow signs pointing to the sweat shop where I employ all of my ESL writerers.

Cold emailing is a relatively new method. Many freelance writers are quite successful with this way of doing things. But the ratio of success vs failure is too big for me personally to try it.

I thought it started as soon as email technology was developed.

That's as soon as I recognized the potential -- in 1998.

I suspect that some users here were not born by then or were too young to recognize the opportunity. I ran a life expectancy program after my wife claimed she would live to be 80 years and found that I'm a dead man walking. Get 'em while they're hot.

There isn't any market for pre-written papers anymore; it has dried up completely, mostly due to anti-plagiarism services like turnitin.com.

I would like to write my personal experience in raising an autistic child. But I am not sure if any one is interested

@pinktoes. Set up a blog. It's what most parents of disabled kids do when they want to get their story out. And yes, a lot of people will be interested if you keep it real and keep it relevant.

Study Direct@writerIN before you start dreaming of big income, you must first make sure that you will be capable of writing the types of papers that may be coming your way. If you are limited in writing scope, then I suggest that you do not get greedy. From the way that you worded your post I would assume that you are not capable of writing the more complex English essays and research papers. It is important that you have at least a number of years experience successfully writing various topics and styles because without that experience, you are better off sticking with the middle-man. After all, when you have the middle-man, you can always reassign a paper if you suddenly realize you made a promise you cannot complete to the client.

@joybit while Academon used to be the best place to sell your papers, These days, you could try to set up your own website where you can control the way that you sell the previously written papers and make sure that the client knows that these are model papers that cannot be turned in for a grade due to the age of the paper. Even if they paraphrase the content. Since your papers are 5 years old or more, then the references in the paper are no longer acceptable as a reliable academic source.

In general, you can't get direct clients to "writer" for. You can however, get direct clients to "write" for. Based upon the question that you presented though, I would not recommend that anybody hire your services as a writer. If this post of yours is any indication, you will just give the independent writers a bad name with your performance. Don't try to use an excuse like "autocorrect" because the mistake you made was so elementary, you should have caught it immediately. Since this mistake got past you so easily, I am worried about what other grammatical and sentence structure mistakes you can make if you work with a client who, shall we say, is "so desperate", your services would be hired. Don't even think of contacting clients directly. You would probably end up embarrassing yourself in the process. Save the potential clients here the stress and aggravation of having to deal with the likes of you. Stick with your 3rd world scam of a writing company (if you are connected with one) and stay away from the students looking for proper writers to help them with their papers at this forum.

You can sign up for an account at one of the online job listings place. Place your bid on the writing orders and wait for someone to hire you. It is difficult to start in this business from scratch. That is why some of my friends who eventually start out on their own do their best to take their regular clients with them from the company that they used to work for. Stealing clients from a company seems to be par for the course for former company writers. Either intentionally or unintentionally, that is what happens.

In my opinion though, it is better to build your client base using the online job platforms. You can better build your reputation based on the trust you build with your client who may then transfer that trust to others through job recommendations, which will benefit you in the end.

Assuming you first brush up on your grammar and style, you could then start with local students. You may have more success in your local or regional area to start. Once you build your skills and establish a client pool, branch out. If you don't have excellent samples and experience, getting in with a reputable company will be hard. Of course, low-cost, low-paying essay services are a dime a dozen, but if you are serious and want to build your writing career, I'd steer away from them.

You guys are giving out advice about becoming a professional writer to someone who (obviously) can barely write one simple sentence in grammatically-correct English. Most of my clients (including my ESL clients) write better than the OP. There's no such thing as "brushing up" this level of incompetence as an English-language writer. He needs to continue learning how to write (anything) in English, which automatically disqualifies him as a professional writer at any level. If you can't write a simple four-sentence forum post without a half-dozen rudimentary grammar (and idiomatic) mistakes, you shouldn't even be thinking about charging money for anything that you write.

If a writer is already posting at this forum, then he has already taken the first step towards contacting students. He has already successfully eliminated the middle man since the students who come to this forum are looking to directly contact a writer. The OP may not have known it but he had already taken baby steps towards becoming an independent writer. While his grammar isn't ENL level, he can still get away with working for ESL students who English level is the same as his. No harm done provided he stick to his writing level. Who knows, he may even have improved his writing skills at this point so that he might eventually have qualified to write more complicated papers for his student base.

It is highly difficult for independent writers to reach out directly to students these days for 2 reasons. The first, is that they fear being blackmailed by these writers later on. Second, they would much rather to to an AI for writing consultation and essay writing. The only writers that may stand a chance of becoming a direct hire in today's climate are the ENL writers. ESL writers have almost been fully edged out of the academic writing world these days.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

they fear being blackmailed by these writers later on

At least that particular fear is unnecessary if they just make sure to use only writers willing to disclose (and prove) their real identity and location by providing information capable of being independently verified, because blackmail is completely impossible without the cloak of anonymity, at least in countries with functioning criminal justice systems.

If you want to reach students directly, consider joining student forums, Reddit communities, or freelance platforms like Upwork or Fiverr. Building a strong LinkedIn profile and showcasing samples can also help

The OP had only one other contribution to this forum, posted on the exact same date that he started this thread, which is also the date that he signed up on this forum: September 17, 2013. In his first post (#4 in the thread linked below), he pretended to be a student reporting a positive experience using a writer whose email he included (that was subsequently removed by admin). Obviously, that was probably his own email address. (Clicking on the U/N of any forum member brings up his profile, entire posting history, and the date that the user signed up on the forum.)
