What Was Your Greatest Project as a Model Writer?

It's still sort of slow for another month, so I thought I would ask people (writers and editors) what project they completed that they felt was most impressive or that they were the most satisfied with?

I know I'm far from the fastest writer, so I can only imagine some of the feats that have been accomplished by other writers...

----

For me, I'm most proud about 100+ pages of model dissertation research on a political science topic. I took a few months on-and-off and I took less money than normal to complete it, but I appreciated the intellectual challenge and overall positive brainstorming time.

In terms of efficiency, one weekend a customer needed me to produce 50 pages of graduate-level content for interviews that were supposed to have been conducted with dissidents from Afghanistan. It involved writing non-stop all weekend and pushing my imagination to its limits, like I was writing a screenplay (on-top of a few other assignments). I'm still amazed at it all coming together and everyone being happy.

I know I'm far from the fastest writer

I've always tried to match A. J. Liebling's claim that, "I can write better than anybody who can write faster, and I can write faster than anybody who can write better."

Although I can't provide any details, I'm probably most proud of a one-hour assignment that paid me $500 and helped a client secure a good-paying job (I wouldn't do this again -- not because of the morality involved [pish-posh] but because of the stress).

Our company received a 17 pager regarding Psychology. It needed to be completed in 3 days, and without going into specifics...lets just say that the writer who did the job walked away with heavier pockets. Client was also pretty happy with the work as well, so everyone left happy.

It's tough to pick out the "greatest" project that I have ever completed, but one of the most challenging, interesting, and rewarding tasks I remember was a 12,000-word international business law paper that needed to be submitted in 4 days. The client was very happy with the final product and paid me £1200 - even though we earlier agreed on £1000!

However, what's puzzling is that the client seemingly popped out of nowhere, and after completing the paper and receiving his gushing feedback, I never heard from him again; his email address was deactivated. This benevolent ghost of a client simply vanished into thin air.

The toughest model project I had to write had to do creating a class plan for a special needs class. The student required me to complete a total of 3 different projects, all inter-related, in a matter of a week. To add to the difficulty of the assignment, I needed to complete the draft in 2 days because she had to use the lesson plan in class and then modify it as per the instructions of her professor. Since there were two other projects that needed to be completed after the revision was completed, I found myself pressed for time. The time almost ran short for us because after I modified the class plan, she had to go and get her professor to approve it yet again. That took a bit longer than expected because the client had to miss school for 2 days. Needless to say, I shied away from these types of work assignments from then on. It was hard enough to revise the project without the check and balance parameters set by the professor. I hated that even though the project was perfect and graded already, I still had to wait out the 2 week unlimited revision period just in case the professor wanted to use one of the 3 papers in a slightly different manner.

Model Writing ProjectMy "greatest" project was probably a 300-pg (freelance) dissertation on religion and law. About half of it was a comparative survey and analysis of laws pertaining to religion worldwide; the second half was about the history and evolution of 1st Amendment law on religion in the US. The client eventually got it published as a book.

My most difficult project might have been a much shorter (company) question-and-answer project about stellar nucleosynthesis. It wasn't the subject matter itself as much as the question-and-answer format that demanded some very specific information that was much harder to find than just researching the topic for an essay.

My favorite (company) project might have been a Freudian analysis of a fictional character: I chose "super-genius" Wile E. Coyote.

My most "impressive" project might have been a 25-pg thesis on the evolution of human psychosexual behavior that I wrote entirely from my own knowledge and then filled in all the in-line citations by pulling all the books off my shelves from which I'd learned everything that I'd written. The client later emailed me to thank me for the A+ he received on that project.

My most frustrating writing project would probably be the 70,000-word book I wrote on sexually-open marriage for which I was unable to find a traditional publisher, despite the fact that I was employed fulltime as a professional writer/editor for the federal government at the time. (Yes, I realize that it's fairly easy and cheap to publish your own book nowadays, but that used to be called "vanity publishing" for a very good reason, and I'm not a vain person.)

My greatest project would have been a 3000 page research on Martin Luther and his separation from the Catholic church. The paper required me to compare similarities between the original Catholoc church and the Protestant counterpart that came about because of Luther becoming disgruntled by the church. How I could prove that Protestantism and Catholicism were different yet the same in many ways was a bit difficult to research since religion has evolved over eons and I reaĺy had to focus on the most recent aspects of both religions rather than the historical basis and counterpart presentations.

So... a 10-page, 101-level religion paper is your pinnacle as an academic ghostwriter!? Res ipsa loquitur.

One of the reasons I really want Cite to post this Martin Luther essay is that I wrote a similar one a few years ago (at least from what I can gather from the somewhat incoherent explanation above), and I think he might have been the customer. Cite? You there, buddy?

Each order that a model writer finishes, regardless of the number of words or page count should be considered a great accomplishment on his part. It no easy feat writing about any topic while trying to juggle multiple deadlines on the part of the writer. There are days when these time sensitive deadlines overlap but we still manage to deliver as expected for every client in our list. The greatest project of a model writer, in my honest opinion, is how he has evolved from an amateur afraid of deadlines, to a highly trained, well versed professional who sees a deadline of 1 hour and is no longer threatened by it. Rather, he sees every deadline as a challenge to be defeated. The greatest project, is the highly polished and well honed skills that the writer has developed over his years of constant model paper writing. All of the papers he has written from the beginning of his career to the present are his greatest projects. One not more important nor notable than the other.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

Thanks for the response, but that's some mamby-pamby nonsense up there, Cite, and you know it. Have you come across the idiom "Put up or shut up?" It's time!

I was so inspired by the free 5-page sample FW gave you in another thread, Cite, so here's a little free edit. Your English has improved a lot, so it was mostly just brushing up ("polishing" lol) things like prepositions, S-V agreement, awkward language, compound noun spellings, W/C, etc. etc.

Each bag of garbage that a sanitation worker throws away, regardless of weight and size, should be considered a great accomplishment on their part. It is no easy feat for the sanitation worker to pick up random bags of garbage while also trying to keep moving towards the next collection stop. There are days when these time-sensitive deadlines overlap, but one still manages to remove the unsightly trash as expected for every client on one's list. The greatest project of a sanitation worker, in my heartfelt but nonetheless mamby-pamby and unsolicited opinion, is how s/he has evolved from an amateur afraid of leaky garbage bags to a highly-trained, well-versed professional who sees a bunch of disgusting trash and remains completely unfazed. Rather, s/he sees every bag of garbage as a challenge to be overcome. The greatest project is the highly-polished and well-honed set of skills that the sanitation worker has developed over his/her years of constant, careless, fumbling, anonymous dreck-handling. All of the bags of garbage s/he has handled from the beginning of their career to the present are this sanitation hero's greatest projects. One is neither more important nor more notable than another!
