Dear WB and Mak,
Can you please suggest a method by which we can get more work from the companies we work for?
Somedays are really dry and there is zero output because of no work assigned by these companies.
Are there any strategies which work well in this case?
Please guide...
Thank you and best wishes,
Ekta

@EKTA

These useless, $5 a page paper mills will always dry out during such seasons.Try working for reputable companies which never go out of work for their writers.

Also if you work loyally for one company which pays a good salary you will see that they will trust you and offer you more work even when they might not have sufficient work to offer all their writers!

Freelancing like any other profession takes a long time to bring good returns.Just be patient and wait for time.Don't get desperate and start working for fraudsters like Peter Richardson or AR.Don't put yourself through the trouble of working with companies with a horrid HRM like AK or D and D either!

Just look around.Start with trial and error.Do small amounts of work and make sure you get paid and see if you have a good chemistry with the admin of the company.

It's a long road.
You will get there eventually.
My advice :No high jumps!

I think we must impress our customers and produce high quality papers. Customers often ask for a particular writer therefore chances are that if you produce quality you will get more work.

Also, you need to take your time to compose a professional cover letter when sending your application / CV to academic research services. Two quick and good examples are below:

Dissertation JobsDear Sir or Madam:

I saw from your website that you are looking for academic writers to produce essays and papers on a variety of topics, and I believe I have the background and skills that you would fit your team.

I am a former lawyer who has written a published novel and several short stories; currently, I'm working on finishing my second novel. You can read about my creative writing works on my blog entitled: Creative Writing for Students.

When I was a student, I took classes in everything from Biology to Accounting to English Literature and received A's in them all, graduating with a 3.91, doing all my own writing. I have had further experience in writing in the legal style, having done memoranda and briefs when I worked as an attorney.

As such, I'm qualified to write on a variety of subjects including: Business, Business Law, Accounting, Economics, English Literature, History, Classics, Women's Studies, Art History, the Renaissance, and even French Literature -- I'm fluent in French and can read works in this language and also write in it, as well.

Although it has been some time since I've done a research paper, and I therefore do not have samples readily available, please feel free to send me a short topic upon which you wish me to write so you can judge my work for yourself. You can reach me at this email address, or at the phone number listed on my attached resume.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you,

Your Future Writer and Editor

Look at your writing assessment tools within the company. That should tell you what you level of writing is and how well you satisfy your clients needs. If you see a low rating in those tools, then improve your work accordingly. Only by improving your skills can you expect to be trusted with more orders and given priority by the company when it comes time to assign orders. Other than that, there is no other way to expect increased assignments. You have to earn the trust of the clients, build your client base, get positive reviews for your work, and complete other company assigned considerations before you can expect to be assigned any sort of work, even during the dry season. You cannot expect to get work assignments if you are not delivering on all the expected work measurements. It doesn't work that way.

The best way to get more work is to provide the best possible quality on the work you already have. The better you do, the more other (individual clients and companies) will want to work with you. If your quality is mediocre, you can expect minimal work.

This is a good foot to follow. I also heavily suggest that people or writers focus more on ensuring that they have more quality compared to quantity. Trust is critical in the industry.

In my experience, getting the most work from essay companies was mainly a function of staying logged into the system and monitoring the assignment boards constantly in real time. You just have to get a jump on newly-posted projects to grab them before other writers. If you only check the board periodically throughout the day, you'll miss most of the best projects because they get taken off the board by other writers almost as soon as they get posted and before you ever see them. When I wrote mostly for companies, I had a computer next to every place in my apartment where I sit and I used to refresh the screen at least once a minute from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed, and on a second screen even while I was writing. Later, at my suggestion, the company added a feature that generated a sound to indicate new orders so that we didn't have to constantly refresh our screens manually. Some companies limit which writers can see certain orders; but otherwise, your principal limitation on getting as many projects as you want is the competition to grab orders before other writers and not necessarily what you need to do to convince the company to give you more work. Obviously, the better your work is the more customers will specifically request you, which usually means you don't have to compete against other writers for those orders.

In line with this, it is also critical that one should be extra cautious of the periods of time when orders are more prominent. I have observed that there are certain periods of time that definitely have a larger inflow of orders for whatever reason. This is quite easy to tell (ie. oftentimes, clients from the US have a clear tendency to place orders during nighttime in their timezone - and this is simply because it's easier to follow). Keeping track of this would definitely make one more cautious as to not waste time logging into sites without achieving anything else. If the company permits, it is also a bit easier to retain a specific amount of income from academic writing if you have a few customers who keep coming back to you. Therefore, ensuring that you are a trustworthy and reliable writer at all times is considered to be paramount as well in the field.

It is also possible to keep a regular client base throughout the academic season. The writer must provide exemplary work to a first time client, ensuring that the work is so impeccable, the client will not consider hiring anyone else to complete his written work during the full term. Building such a client base means the same student will also be back next semester, requesting your services. That is one of the most effective ways of showing the company that you are capable of not only earning a regular income for yourself, but of raising the quality profile of the company. Do both effectively and the company may even consider placing you in the priority list of writers to be assigned work to during the slow season.

You're absolutely right about how to retain a regular customer base. Probably, that's how most companies and writers have sustained past these years. However, no matter how professional you are, there is still the low season particularly around new year's time and similar occasions. In view of FLW, above, at a company, it's even more of a headache fighting to win an order; in this industry, only a few clients pass the word around. So, my opinion is that this industry has its specific plus and minus sides. But, at the end, quality and reliability win.
