I got accepted as a freelance writer on one of the writing websites. I made a few hundred dollars. I requested to be paid by wire transfer.
My question is - why do I have to pay for wire transfer fee? The fee is about $25-30. Shouldn't the company pay the fee? I cannot accept Paypal yet in my country.
If the company offers a check-via-regular-mail option, you have no complaint whatsoever.
If the company only offers wire transfer, then you do have a legit gripe (especially if the company did not inform you in advance that wire is the only option).

They offer check but to cash it in my bank it's even more fee than wire transfer.
Everybody (except for the customer) pays a transaction fee. Even if you had a Paypal account you'd have to pay a transaction fee (about 3% of the total amount) too.
"They offer check but to cash it in my bank it's even more fee than wire transfer."
You have no business tutoring in English, nor do you have any business writing term papers in it. You are missing the basics: you're already mixing up articles (a, and, the) and the simple past tense ("They offered a check") within the first three words fumbled from your fingertips.
I don't know your employer, but they obviously have pretty low standards, and, as such, they are probably ripping you off on the fees of which you complain, as well as other things. You deserve it; go sign up for some Berlitz lessons.

Students I teach don't know how to write "My name is John." They miss the basics.

I didn't quote any articles.
I didn't quote any articles.
You have GOT to be fuc*in' kidding me.
@writers2beware, i have a deal: why don't you(at least for one year) stop harassing newbies and, in turn, i will pay you $1k. Alternatively, how much do you want to be paid so that you'll never post in this forum again?
Do you normally inform newbies of your terrible, fraud-infested past, including a stint away from the forum when you were banned once the mod became aware of the severity of your scams?
Ces, I was trying to tell you that "articles" are A, AND, and THE. Your language probably has its own articles.
Anyway, Merriam-Webster says it better than I can: "ARTICLE--4 grammar : a word (such as a, an, or the) that is used with a noun to show whether or not the noun refers to a specific person or thing - see also definite article, indefinite article."
When you then said that you "didn't quote any articles," it was hilarious, and you looked like an idiot, because (and this is another difficult part of English) "article" is a noun that has multiple meanings, and those meanings vary based on the context of the sentence in which the noun appears.
What is the name of the essay company that would dare employ you?

Now I understand. It was confusing for a moment.
What is the name of the essay company that would dare employ you?
They have many of websites, pay a few dollars per page. They are from Europe (Ukraine<>UK?). I know my English is not perfect one yet but soon I hope to write for UK or US company to make more money. And not pay transfer fees :).
They have many of websites
I think you're still a bit confused
perfect one yet but soon I hope to write
I only wish I write could you like I be able to, then money pour me down from heaven.........
Who knows, maybe they need a script for Yoda in Star Wars............
You're in for a world of hurt, judging by whom you seem to be working for. My advice is to quit before they start robbing you. Do what you will, but don't say that no one warned you.
then money pour me down from heaven
LOL!
I can't find the humor.
These days you've become quite barren; somewhat of a mental crossbreed between a well fed orangutan and a dopey warthog. Implying(perhaps) your miserable check no longer inspire you to engage in sweaty, endless scam busting mental odysseys that were nourished with psychotic bit.chness and neurotic constructions.
The b.itch has gone full circle. Amongst all wretched whities, you're to be pitied the most.

How many foreign languages do you know? I know three (one perfect, another average, and English - good).
How many foreign languages do you know?
Irrelevant. He/She doesn't defraud customers by claiming to be a professional writer in a foreign language in which he/she has only amateur, remedial skill.

In my country I can be easily called a professional writer (US embassy in my country uses me as an interpretor sometimes). I don't defraud anybody- companies I work for give me orders and I write them. Why am I supposed to be a fraud?
Irrelevant.
It is relevant. The more foreign languages you know, the more intelligent you are. It was test for intelligence.
It really is irrelevant, but I will humor you. I speak my own, native language, English at a near to native level (I hope at least), some German, some Italian, Serbian, Slovenian (in all honesty, they are very similar to my language so it's difficult to claim they are foreign), and a tiny bit of French. Although my writing skills are hardly existent in other languages, I get by in normal day to day communication.
However, knowledge of foreign languages does not make you more or less intelligent - that's idiotic. It makes you a child of opportunity. I know many people who are smarter than me and can barely speak in another language. I was fortunate enough to have a knack for languages and parents who traveled a lot.........
And, not trying to be rude or anthying, but you are not qualified to do anything in English, let alone teach or write.

Bravo. It's sad it hasn't helped you though.............
Look in the mirror.
It got broken.
I think some ESL merchants are floating in my room. Can you help me with Ghostbusting em?
Sure, my pay is good...$2.5 for every ghost you exorcise. its a rate far much better than ET's bittie-crumbs, don't you think?
This procedure is very easy it lets to send very easily money online to someone's else account. it is also a great way to transfer money between your own accounts with your bank or at other financial institutions.
All writers have to pay for the transfer fees because that is money coming in on the writer's end. The company also pays a transfer fee on their end to their local bank. There are fees on both sides which is only logical since the middleman always needs to get his share of the fees. It's a sad truth in the life of a freelance writer. It's not something we can change but it is something that we can adjust to. That is, provided the writer knows how to carefully balance his checkbook and also, manages to adjust the due dates on the fees that he needs to pay for in order to stay alive. If you have to pay such a hefty transfer fee for small amount, I suggest scheduling your payments instead to transfer every 2-3 months. That way you have more money to transfer and in the process, less fees to pay for due to the bracketing system used for the fee charges. I did it that way when I was just starting out in the business, until Paypal finally kicked in for me. Like I said, it is a bit tricky, but it pays off in the long run.

As someone who employs writers directly, I have explained to them that they need to pay for the bank transfer fees because I am the business owner and I need to make sure my profits are not cut into.
Additionally, I maintain the system that they are working on so I should receive a larger share of the profits.
The bank transfer fees are part and parcel of their work investment. It's the closest some of them get to paying a "tax" on their underground income and in most cases, the transfer fee is negligible so they agree to swallow that cost.
I already pay a processing fee on my end every time I pay out to them so the least they can do is accept the transfer fees on their end.
When a writer complains about the transfer fee to me, I simply tell the person that there is no contract binding our working relationship so the writer is free to seek employment elsewhere.
Since I pay on time and I do not penalize my writers unless absolutely necessary, they tend to stay on and pay the fees without additional questions.
The bank transfer fees are part and parcel of their work investment.
I'd like to bring out this thread again for this reason. I found that a majority of freelance writers (ESL ones) consider the work as almost underground/undeclared work. There's a lot you can get away with, especially if you do not live in a country with stringent tax measures in place. That being said, I have spoken to a few others who consider these transfer payments as their unofficial income tax to (at the very least) contribute to their country, especially if the money is being wired in from a different country. I know that it can be counted as a remittance tax, although I'm quite uncertain about the technicalities of it all.
The banks charge a transfer fee because of the logistics involved in the money transfer process. They need to convert the money from one currency to another. As such, there is a conversion fee charged in the form of the transfer fee. It is a necessary evil in this line of work. It is not only the banks that charge these transfer fees. Any money remittance company charges one form or another of transfer fees. Either by lowering the exchange rate used or charging the fee outright. I have to agree with Study Review on this, we writers just need to accept this as a form of work taxation.
