and has realistically cost me a module and another term at university, costing me huge amounts of money and unnecessary amounts of stress.

Yes. The fact that you failed a full module due to your lack of effective cheating is absolutely someone else's responsibility. I'm sure if you explained everything to you university they'd see it the same way.

There are mixed reviews for this service. It appears that they do a good enough job for the ESL students, but a lousy job for the ENL. So one should hire any of these companies at your own risk. If you are an ESL student, then you may just find satisfaction in their work. If you are ENL, stay away from their services. You will just end up filing a billing refund or dispute, which will take ages off your academic life.

I have a hard time understanding how an academic writing company based in the UK continues to perform academic writing tasks for their students. They know that this is against the law and yet they continue to offer the service. I found the following information online for the company:

ICARUS EDUCATION LTD: active private limited company
INCORPORATED: 17 June 2022.
NATURE OF BUSINESS: Educational support services.
REGISTERED LOCATION: City Road, London

The names of the officer and director sounds made up as well:
OFFICER AND DIRECTOR: MR AUDACITY PHAROS

How can a company have just one officer who also acts as the sole director? There is something wrong with this information. Specially since the company affiliate, if it is an affiliate continues to provide academic writing services in a country where it has been completely outlawed.

Excerpt from their website

Can I use your services in my country?

As an international company, we offer a wide choice of academic services: editing, marking, proofreading, tutoring, application assistance, copy-writing and model-writing services.

Nearly all of these services are permitted universally, including in England.

In June 2022, England introduced regulations which limit English companies from providing some essay-writing services to students at English institutions.

English students CAN continue to order from us if they are:

· Ordering a permitted essay-writing service (e.g., private research)
· An international customer
· A student in Scotland or Wales
· Studying abroad
· Ordering editing, marking, proofreading, tutoring, application assistance, copy-writing or model-writing services.

When ordering essay-writing materials, all English customers are required to confirm that they meet one of the above exemptions.
----------------------------------

Their website states "© 2022 Icarus Education Ltd. (UAE)"

So a student only has to confirm they need an essay-wriitng service for private research which is a permitted exemption.

Thank you for the additional information. It truly helps me understand how the business works in the UK. Quick question though. Do you think students from Scotland and Wales can rely on the company and writers based on the specifics you just mentioned? The company is still UAE rather than UK based after all. So the writers could be pretenders as well right?

@noted

Their website states:
"While most of our academics are Oxford or Cambridge graduates, we do consider strong applicants from other leading universities, particularly those with a subject specialism not taught at Oxford or Cambridge."

If you want to become a writer you must have:

"A native command of the English language
A Master's degree from a reputable red-brick university, or other leading English language institution
Advanced expertise in your specialist subject"

'Red-brick' refers to prestigeous established universities like Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham.

Well then, the student can come to his own conclusion about the company and its writer's abilities based upon the hiring criteria alone. These hiring considerations certainly disqualify any non-UK educated writers from working for them. It also shows why US based writers cannot partially or fully meet UK academic writing criteria. The academic training is as different as night and day. Thank you again for these most useful information.
