Teacher Evaluation by Students
Some people believe that students should be allowed to evaluate and criticize their teachers to improve the quality of education. Others think this is disrespectful to teachers. Discuss both views, give your opinion and include relevant examples.
How to evaluate teachers' performance at high school has long been marked by controversy among advise service, particularly school staffs at primary schools. While some of them believe that students have right to evaluate their teachers, other beg to differ. They argue that student assessment about teachers' performance can cause some chaos in the classroom.
On the one hand, students to give their opinion about their teachers may have a feedback to teachers. This effective way encourages teachers to choose the best teaching methods. Therefore, the quality of education may increase. They have a better understanding about the capacity of their students. In addition, this would help administrators, teachers who do not provide a good educational service can be retired or be fired. So, tutors may strive to do their best performance. This brings a win- win situation not only for teachers, but also for pupils.
On the other hand, students are unable to evaluate their teachers. Teachers have not only high level of academic knowledge, but more experiences in comparison with students, as well. Moreover, students assessments may lead to a poor discipline in the class. If students are allowed to comment on the classroom, it will be a chaos in the classroom. Finally, seeking to please the students, teachers do not bother students about neither too strict rules, nor content of their lectures.
In the final analysis, I would like to pen down arguing that it is absolutely acceptable that students should not evaluate their teachers, which yet it is sometimes claimed that education system may be enhanced dramatically by some feedback from pupils to teachers.
