Hello, I have paid a company called expert academic help and I paid them to help me with an essay. They didn't really how to write the essay and then I asked for a refund and decided to do it on my own. they said they will have to contact my professor and the university to verify that the work they sent isnt used for the refund. and I haven't submitted the work. and they said that I have to pay a huge amount of money to cancel the verification process ( asking the uni and the professor) that I didn't submit the work. and they gave me 24 hours to do so.

They have my name and bank proof that I did in fact pay but didn't use the work . they said their legal team or investigator will know which university i go to and they will inform you or ask about me.

So far they came up with a university thats close to where I go to. will they contact my university or the professor? I need some advice please.

You are in the clear as long as you do not submit the bad paper. While they may have gotten some information about you from the cover page information that may have come free with the service, that is not enough for them to blackmail you with. You said so yourself that they are not in possession of your actual university name. So they actually have no real way of contacting your school authorities. They will only have something on you if you accidentally divulge the correct and useful information during your prolonged contact phase with them. send their emails to the Spam folder and stop responding to them. justead of asking them for a refund, file a chargeback claim through your payment channel instead. That way you do not have to deal with them directly, if at all. Relax bud. By not using their paper, you are in the clear. You have not done anything wrong even though you thought about doing it at first.

Thanks! yes I will just ignore them. they keep saying that the education department in the UK will stop the investigation if you pay. Im so tempted to ask if they think that the entire department in the UK is corrupt and they will really stop investigating if I pay?! 😂

and the name of the website is expertacademichelp.co.uk

they said that theres a refund policy 100% if the work is unsatisfactory by any chance!

hi.. I am in a exactly same situation like you. I paid expertacademichelp for my assignment as I was so struggling and didn't have enough time to do. But as my own gut feeling, I didn't trust them much so I did the assignment by myself and submitted on time. Then they sent my order after 3 days of my deadline so obviously I didn't use or submit their work. But 2 weeks later, they started contacting me saying that I have been under investigation for copyright issues and if I pay for copyright certificate, everything will be fine. I just ignored them but today they emailed me again saying they gonna contact my university(they know which uni I'm studying so that's what I am worried) about it and kept threatening me. I and so emotionally stressed and don't know what to do. I should not have done that in the first place. I want to ignore them but I am scared that they gonna keep blackmailing and threatening me. I know myself clearly that I didn't use or submit their work but what if they actually contact my university? I don't want this to get any bigger.

I think maybe we can call the UK department of education to report this. I've checked the website and there's the phone number. I tried calling them when this started to happen but they didn't answer maybe because it was holiday? I just really wanna live peacefully and don't want this to get any bigger. As I am an International student, if something wrong, I might have to go back and I don't want that to happen. I have been worrying about this a lot for days that I couldn't even sleep. The only mistake I made was that I decided to order from that website. What if they actually contact my university?

You should contact @a1writer about your case. He is a former/retired UK based writer who is familiar with the new anti essay mill law in the UK. He might be able to help you further regarding your situation.

Don't do anything yet. Ignore them. Sounds to me like they are bluffing as you did not submit the essay and they don't know your university.

I need to look at them in more detail and will report back shortly.

They are bluffing. Remember, they gave you the wrong university name. Let the deadline lapse. Nothing will come of it. If at all, they will email you with a second chance and much lower cost offer. Call their bluff. Ignore them. Their next step will be to send you a fraudulent email supposedly sent to your school. Do not fall for that either. That might come with the second chance offer.

Has @a1writer contacted you via PM already? He might have some ideas to help you out. Just take it easy. Do not let them bully you into anything.

@a1writer Thank youu for this!! If you don't mind, can you help me too? I can just ignore them right? I'm just a little worried that they gonna actually contact the university because they know my university name. I am thinking to report them if they continue to blackmail and threaten me.

Do not be complacent. They are thinking up a new way to blackmail you. Give them a few days to come up with a new ploy. Just remember that silence on your end will eventually make them stop what they are doing. Work on filing formal complaints against them if possible.

they just texted me saying that I need to answer regarding the payment.. and then another guy from the company sent me a message that the refund will be processed as promised.. I don't trust them and I'm not expecting a refund from them anytime soon. So thats that

Anyone knows if this company is located in the UK?
any additional information about them ?
I want to report them to the police as they claim that the investigation from the UK department of education will stop once I pay the cancellation of the fees for the officer !

are they insinuating that UK department of education will take money to stop investigating on a case !! if it was true..

How do they think this is real by any means!

They are trying to force you to make contact by promising a refund. Do not fall for it. They know you are on to them. That is why they sent you 2 conflicting messages. They are hoping you will respond to either a threat or a promise of goodwill. Either modes of contact will revive the blackmail chain so keep away from them. Do not be tempted. There are other ways for you to try and get a refund.

If you can provide the full domain name, so we can avoid second guessing, we should be able to delve into its background in case the need to report them arises. We can post any info we find in this thread to help other students who might be having an experience similar to both of you.

@teachersdontteach

This is a fake letter. Report it to the police and/or Department for Education.
The Dept. for Education logo should be on the left hand side of letter and address on right hand side.
Signature looks to be cut and paste job.
Look at date of letter. Monday 2 January 2023 was a New Year bank holiday in the UK so their offices were closed.

Omg so true!! you are a genius @a1writer

Also I checked the emails that were listed in the email as other students (the part that I had crop out) procreating the privacy of other students..every single one of those emails was failed to deliver !!

The fake documents will now start rolling in. Keep your cool. They do not know how to create believable documents. They will eventually give up. Your best defense is silence.

Please advise on what to do

Don't respond to them at all and block their emails so you don't even see them. Just use the search function here for the term "blackmail," read through those threads, and decide for yourself which contributors' advice sounds most intelligent to you. It's already been discussed in about as much detail as possible, with just about every conceivable approach fully represented in various suggestions.

However the scammers keep on messaging me asking for money to hire a legal advisors in order to "remove IP address from my uni's data base" whixh i know its rubbish talk!!

I have blocked them but sick worried because they know what uni i go to and they have my student ID but not my real name.
