Now we have members' ratings, and what's more?

While I'm sure there's rhyme and reason to it, I'm still trying to figure out the rating system works. The only place I usually advertise is EssayChat (the price is right!) so I want to keep these ads active and I will therefore contribute to this forum in any way I can. In some cases, though, I've seen my rating actually decline (modestly) after making a post. Is this some kind of automated techno-criticism? Likewise, although the word counts of posts may be included in the calculations, the number of words would not reflect anything about the quality of the content which would be subjective in any event. Anyone have a clue?

I don't know, are you guys even part of the EU anymore?

I'm sure I replied to this before, but for some reason it's not there any more. We are still part of the EU, but it's all very much up in the air right now. The referendum result, which is to leave the EU, is not legally binding, and a great deal of pressure is being placed on the EU to ignore the result for a number of reasons, one of which is that it came about due to a relatively small majority. Anyhow, we'll see what happens. It's quite a mess. If it all goes ahead, Scotland will hold a referendum for independence and remain in the EU. The EU has shown overwhelming support for this. Again, we'll see.

I'm still trying to figure out the rating system works.

I, too, have been participating for the same reason, and while I wouldn't argue that it is altogether unpleasant, I am still unsure of its efficacy. I haven't seen my rating decline, but I have noticed that sometimes it shoots up considerably following my contributions, whereas on other occasions it creeps up just nominally. This seems to be regardless of the word count of contributions. Also, while my contributions are always relevant to the discussions, I'm not sure that the discussions are always particularly a beneficial additions to the community. Furthermore, the number of ads on essaychat, where most of my work originates from, has notably decreased to the point where just a few of us have been featured on there recently, but the number of orders I have received has also decreased. Go figure? Anyone would imagine that, with competition diminished due to others not bothering to contribute here, business would thrive. Not the case for me for sure.

Older threads are being revived. Great! Looks like the censor board guys on the forum have been far more active recently than they were any time in the past. Cool.

While I'm sure there's rhyme and reason to it, I'm still trying to figure out the rating system works.

The following is most information I've been able to find on this issue: "The EssayScam Rating / Popularity is a score (re-calculated every full hour) that ranks a forum member's participation in discussions. Posters who have high and regular level of engagement in relevant topics will accumulate a higher Rating score. Prolonged posting inactivity will reduce the Rating score."

The term "relevant topics," though, remains somewhat nebulous and subjective.

Is this some kind of automated techno-criticism?

Since we're all working in the essay writing industry where knowing recent research trends in different areas is quite common, I would suggest that the ES folks be careful in setting up their 'rating' algorithm.

ProfessorVerb raises quite a few critical points in regard to the complications (subjective vs. objective) in a rating system particularly based on an algorithm. The struggles of the famous Facebook, Twitter, and even Google's SEO are common examples for us to take a break.

The most effective way to continue developing a robust rating system would be to share it openly with complete transparency with its members, and any feedback must be incorporated to enhance the system that would eventually benefit the Forum and its goals of sustainability in the troubled waters of global competition.

As a member of this forum for 5+ years, I have noticed a number of times that the management of this forum likes to stay back and watch the game. This is perhaps the most serious weakness because this attitude lacks a democratic approach that bases on interaction, dialogue, and mutual interest.

stay back and watch the game

You'd prefer censorship and bias; let's not promote democratic socialism here.

I've noticed that several self-serving members have recently begun to consistently post irrelevant garbage that in no way contributes to the purpose of this forum. Does a freelance writer posting in EssayScam now somehow benefit him/her at EssayChat and/or elsewhere?

It is my understanding that recent changes in EssayScam policy require daily (or almost daily) postings by members who are regular freelance writers in order to maintain their ad-posting privileges at EssayChat.

Does a freelance writer posting in EssayScam now somehow benefit him/her at EssayChat and/or elsewhere?

Though I have not posted in EssayChat to date, I think it is not very difficult to see that certain people have benefited from the interconnectedness of the two forums for a long time. To me, it's not even surprising anymore. I wonder if others do not know this thing.

You'd prefer censorship and bias; let's not promote democratic socialism here.

Sorry to say but this sounds rude to me. I left my suggestion above for the good of the forum, side by side sharing my reservation for whatever algorithm is being used for the rating. What I prefer or do not, I have every right to promote wherever I'd like. If you do not identify with the beneficial humanitarian approaches to social interaction, I do not mind, but it'd be great if you let me be with my view and not tone me down because I am an ESL writer. Capitalism has its ugly sides too. No system is perfect. Democratic socialism is the in thing. Do you not realize that social media trends such as #occupy are still alive?

Although I don't know the precise relationship between EssayScam and EssayChat (and don't want to), the friendly admin at EssayChat has been great whenever I've asked questions or made requests for several years now. They've even added some games (more games please!) and a survey feature at my suggestion. Although it is the Wild West version of EssayScam, I've had good results with my ads on EssayChat and I don't feel that the requirement to contribute to this forum on a regular basis to maintain this privilege is unreasonable.

Whatever algorithm is used to calculate points, I think it should be made clear to people who see these ratings that they are not based on client feedback but rather the frequency and relevance of postings in this forum only (I'll probably change my mind about this policy if/when I reach four stars).

At present, it seems I am Major General Verb, but I'm closing in on lieutenant general:

Interestingly, brigadier generals are so named because in times of war, they command a brigade. It is also noteworthy that even though the five-star general ranks in all branches of service were retired in 1981 following General of the Army Omar Bradley's death*, the U.S. Department of the Defense still keeps 268 sets of these insignia in stock "just in case."

New Member Here - Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I just got here. I'm a relatively recent academic writer and there are not many of us (I will tell you from the massive amount of work I receive). Or at least, there are not many of us GOOD ones. I love what I do and about 70% of the time don't feel like I'm even working... I work at a few freelancer firms and have a whole slew of private clients. I have a M.A (philosophy) and a bachelor of education, and for once it's nice to get paid for doing lesson plans ;) As morally questionable as essays may be, it's become a huge part of my life now. My mantra has become 'doing essays' among social circles. What's she doing? Oh, she's doin' essays. Sometimes, people find it difficult to understand why we love doing them so much....

@ProfessorVerb I wouldn't over think it if I were you. Just keep participating so you can help keep the forum thriving in terms of discussion. We can never really figure out what the people behind the scenes mean by the things they say. Since we are all here for the same purpose anyway, let's just enjoy the company and conversation. The ratings per person will keep increasing that way.

I'm also a new member here and I am really enjoying my time spent interacting with everyone. Even though i was off to a rough start with others here, I hope that everyone will get past that. I am looking forward to calling everyone here my friend. I truly enjoy the opportunity to exchange ideas with everyone and learn from the mistakes and successes of those before me here.

I'm not perfect and I haven't had the best experience with writing companies in the past. Hopefully, I will be able to get over the trauma of working for the writing companies for the past 20 years with the help of everyone here. I look forward to helping the others who need help or just want to talk as well.

get over the trauma of working for the writing companies for the past 20 years

Wow! I'll concede my past 20 years have been eventful but they have only been traumatic as a result of other life exigencies. Since I started writing, both of my loving parents have died, I've lost two faithful dogs,* and I've gone through three computers and five cars.**

On the plus side, I've seen both of my daughters graduate from college, secure meaningful employment that provides them with income as well as a life enriched by the endless amusement in the form of three grandsons God, I love those kids but they are evil and expensive. I both them all archery equipment and strictly instructed them in safety rules at my house, only to learn later that the youngest one had shot the oldest one in the back of the head with a practice arrow (he wasn't hurt but damn).

All in all, though, I wouldn't change anything. I've taught and worked in cubicle-ville most of my life but it wasn't until I struck out on my own that I was happy. Traumatized? Maybe. Happier? Absolutely.

Hang in there.

@ProfessorVerb I think I have experienced all of the possible traumatic events and instances of working at an academic writing company. It could probably fill a whole book. I fully intend to share those experiences with everyone here so that others can learn from my (mis)adventures as a contracted writer for these companies. My life, per se, is good and the writing job helped me to achieve that.

However, it also brought along with it certain job stresses, like having to wake up at odd hours of the night to attend to a short turn around order or revision request (which I did not cause). Normally I would be roused by the shouting voice of the Ukrainian on the other end of the line. The pay was good for a time( till they decided to penalize every move the writers made), but I had slave driver bosses who were really unreasonable when it came to their treatment of writers. Maybe I just wasn't picking the right companies? I worked with 6 companies over 20 years. The latest one, where I started in 2011, changed owners every year for some reason so you can imagine how their policy changes could really affect the morale of the writer's pool.

Grammar wars.

My grammar can beat the hell out of his grammar ....*

we belong to a small and select group

I haven't belonged to a "group" since I was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1977. Since that time, I've had no superiors and damn few equals, to paraphrase an enlightened train conductor. I use "y'all" and "ain't" as I see fit, and screw MW.**

__________
*I won my third-grade spelling bee with that word -- everyone else was more interested in "science" and "math" after Sputnik -- not me. Another day went by today without my having to use algebra .. don't listen to 'em kids...

**

So why not take a conciliatory stance regarding everything right?

: Good grief, son. Are you just stupid? Can you really say you are "conciliatory:" about cultures that condone throwing acid in women's faces or stoning them to death because they were raped? How about all of the injustices we see around us every day of the world? Just today, I witnessed two young black women in a car broke down in the middle of an intersection with three small children in the back seat. Of course, I stopped and tried to push their car out of the intersection by myself but I'm old and disabled. I signaled to other drivers to help me, but no one would stop. I finally got them off the road safely, only to come home to read this clueless post. I'm not here to make friends, but I don't want to make any enemies either but that's never stopped me before ...

What kind of fools do you take us for here? You are old, and disabled, and you tried to help move a car? Who are you? Superman in his old age? Your tale doesn't make sense. Your story reeks of an imaginative narrative called a lie.

I believe in a conciliatory world when one can possibly exist. I am not asking you to be conciliatory with me if you do not wish to. We are neither friends nor enemies here. We just exist in the same forum. You seem to have a chip the size of Texas on your shoulder. That means you do not listen to valid arguments and you will never admit you are wrong. Rather than trying to beat you up in this thread and making you happy, I will just say this. My friends warned me that most people from the state that you claim to come from are not worth listening to nor talking to. I did not want to believe them until I met you here. By the way, don't call me son, I refuse to believe I could ever be fathered by someone like you.

Please also me to clarify. I wasn't referring to anyone else: I only take you for a fool. Yes, I'm 64 years old, a proud disabled Vietnam vet and I hurt all over every ******* day of the world but that didn't stop me from helping those women today. Only my wife, daughters and grandsons (and many of my clients) think I'm Superman but I know differently. That shouldn't stop others from being honest and helpful if they can..

Sir, take it easy, sir! I am 2Lt of Canadian Army, but I left my service 2 years ago. Now I want to forget that **** nightmare and spend my time with my family too. Without any doubts, we appreciate your contribution, and I would salute you, sir; but have mercy and just be proud of your life without boasting. My great grandpa was an aircraft pilot during the WW2. He was a great man, a volunteer that participated in the battle of Britain. That was my greatest honor to know him. With all due respect, sir, he would've never demanded some special privilege and everyone knew him as a real hero. A superman if you say.

Hello essay Scammers, glad to be here!

Hello, essay scammers.
For a person who claims to have scoured the internet for 'illegal essay-mill marketing forums', I can't believe I just found out about this one today. SHAME ON ME!! The experiences voiced in this forum are very important to freelancers and "students alike", I should have figured it out sooner. Glad to be here.

What's the beef with Kenyans though?
Cite  2 | 1853 ☆☆☆

Welcome! It appears that the Kenyans have a reputation for being con artists and scumbags. They have been misrepresenting themselves to the students and very often, do not deliver on the work that has been ordered. Their writing skills are very elementary that the students demand refunds for their work, which they don't get. Instead, the students are blackmailed / threatened with exposure, the list just goes on and on. That is not to say that all the Kenyan freelancers are all bad people. Rather, a few rotten apples may have just contaminated the whole basket. I'd like to give them a chance to prove that they are the opposite of the popular belief, if they can do so.

Not urgent, newest member Greetings ?

Hello guys. I really hope I don't get too much heat for this. I do see that there were "21 users online in the last hour" but I've only seen 3 members active over the last few months I guess(? I only jumped on this site like 30 minutes ago). I actually joined hoping I'd be able to hire one of the members... and I wasn't allowed to email him yet. This is a really formal looking forum guys. I'm not sure if I expected in to be Reddit but I definitely expected more lol's. Lol.

Since there only look (to me) like there's a few people still using this forum, I just wanted to shoot my shot. I don't even know if the member I want to talk to is a writer. Haa this is hella awkward ok thanks bye!!!

Yo this website told me my topic title for this thread was not meaningful enough asdfghjkl

The usual student influx of inquires regarding freelance writers and academic writing firms are not what it used to be at this forum. That does not mean that the forum is no longer useful. Ingouries are just fever and quite far between. That is why it is important to welcome new users into the fold. Regardless of when they just signed up for the account and when they first posted here. Let's not be remiss in making them feel comfortable about posting their questions and thoughts here. If the forum is to continue to survive, then more participation is required. So welcome one and all. I look forward to our exchange of ideas on past and current topics. Let's work together to stay relevant in a currently evolving learning system.

Hello Andy,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your background as a freelancer with expertise in business and management. It's great to hear about your experience and qualifications with two masters in those fields. However, I need to clarify that the term "Essay Scam family" might be a typo or miscommunication, as it seems contradictory to your professional approach.

If you meant to say "Essay" instead of "Eassy" and you are looking to join a community or platform related to essay writing, it's important to approach such endeavors with integrity and professionalism. Ethical essay writing services aim to provide genuine assistance to students who need help with their academic assignments. Ensuring high-quality work, originality, and adherence to academic standards is crucial to maintaining a positive reputation in the field.

If you're planning to offer your services to students or clients, I encourage you to uphold the principles of academic honesty and ethical writing practices. Fostering a positive and credible reputation will not only benefit you but also contribute to the integrity of the educational support industry.

Best of luck with your freelance writing endeavors, and I hope you find meaningful opportunities to share your expertise while maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Kind regards,
Richard Lawson

What's up, EssayScam?

My name's Steve. I'm the President of new writing service for students.

I thought I'd reach out to you guys since you seem to be all about helping students find reliable ways to get assistance with their coursework. This is the whole reason we founded our service.

Our goal with this company was to bring some much-needed credibility to the academic ghostwriting scene. We don't think it's fair that students have to risk their safety, their grades, and their hard-earned money on scam websites preying on people who need a hand.

We are the only company that guarantees you a truly top-quality writer. We don't hire anybody unless they can show us an official transcript with multiple As in writing-intensive classes. They must also pass a difficult timed exam. While other companies charge extra for a writer who speaks English as a native language, we charge extra for a writer who currently works as a college professor.

We're also the only company that assigns our clients an "essay consultant" to explain everything to them, keep them updated, and act as a guide throughout the process to make it all as quick and smooth as possible.

Anyways, the reason I'm writing you is because I'm very interested in working out some sort of advertising deal with you. I noticed a few ads on your web header and was wondering what kind of deal you have with those companies. Perhaps we could offer you something more attractive. Not to be rude, but we already have a banner design that would look MUCH nicer on your homepage than banner ads I used to see.

Apart from all that, I'd like to thank you for creating and operating such a helpful tool for students in need. I could've used this site back when I was in school.

I'd love a chance to speak with you via email or phone - whatever works best for you.

Thanks for reading my message. I look forward to hearing back.

Sincerely,

Steve
