someone needs to find a professor with a password

I have institutional/instructor access. The only real difference between it and the student panel is that it allows us to create classes, assignments, set deadlines for the assignments, select whether the papers will be stored or not, which databases they will be compared against and whether students can access their originality reports or not. Objectively speaking, when used as an insructional tool, it really is very good. A lot of students, especially international ones (Chinese and Japanese in particular), really do not know what plagiarism is and do not know that they should place everything they take from other sources within quotation marks - they plagiarise without intending to. Turnitin really helps in that regard.

Exwriter and Pheelyks - welcome back, your posts and presence were missed :)

I can only hope turnitin.com will be brought down

:) the support it has among universities around the world make it unlikely :( Can you believe that every university inthe UK has signed up?!

Show yourself if you can or dare. Perhaps you prefer to make threats while assuming you are anonymous?

You say you know my home and my office address - please come over with the police as you have said you would. I am there ... If you know where I live and if you know everything, show yourself or publish the supposed evidence you have.

If you are British (which is seriously unbelievable) ... you would know that cyberstalking and direct threats are illegal? Haven't you heard that?

You mention that you are an NHS patient? In their mental ward? Another thing - you claim to be British yet you earlier said that you were not and, in fact, blasted Brits and Americans. Make up your mind ... what are you??? Are you as identity-confused as you are gender confused?

You say that you are Cecilia? Ok - am calling the department first thing in the morning (Sunday is an off-day here, by the way) ... are you her or one of her EFL students?

Now - care to tell us your relationship to a certain person?

mods - just spoke to the chief security officer at Greenwich University, despite its being sunday. The number is 02083318000. They are going to launch an investigation tomorrow as they are taking the use of the name of one of their lecturers very very seriously. Mods - you have the number - pls feel free to check just how seriously they are taking it.

1) possible impersonation for the purposes of violating the Defamation Act of 1996
2) an attempt to implicate the university in the violation of the said act

I have also sent you the attachment (document) via email. Now ... you do know that the courts can order a revelation of a poster's IP? Certainly, it is costly to do so but will pursue this path. The poster said that he wanted to meet me in court ... so, how about we do so? My identity is known and the poster's will soon be. The poster can then produce the documentary evidence establishing his `facts.' There is a vast difference between OPINION and defamation ...

Now, if the poster turns out to be connected with a certain company, in any way ... well, there are laws ...

I expose scam used by site to claim it using Oxbridge writers

pls post the link where any of my sites make that claim.

and I was never - NEVER - fired by any essay website - there is no 'proof' here at all that I was sack - maybe I still writing for AA? Maybe not

asif4444

Well here is an email full of threats and insults from Jennifer, resident evil one at Academic Knowledge at Academic Knowledge Ltd (UKessays.com, essayadvice.com etc owned by Barclay). Read it and weep Jenny the Nazi - you have NO case at all which just shows what a non-lawyer you are you sucker fool! Threaten away - you have no case. None.

Email from Jennifer Hess of Academic Knowledge Ltd: https://essayscam.org/forum/es/jennifer-academic-knowledge-threats-insults-1097/

Your email wasn't an enquiry, it was a threat and you're also impersonating someone else - you've registered in this forum as 'Asif' but your email says you were Cecilia, a lecturer.

My answer is fair and true - and I'm hardly a 'Nazi' for saying that if you cause harm to our customers by breaching their confidentiality, our company will take action against you. We care a great deal about the welfare of our customers and we will as a company take every measure and every action we possibly can to protect them.

Moderator, are you going to allow this kind of insulting, disgusting language in the forum?

General Talk / Do "real" writing sites exist? [21]

As if you are a writer ...

It is more than apparent that you are a deeply disturbed individual. You respond to rejection and objective criticism in a manner reminiscent of an hysterical two-year old. Your continued tantrums are a clear indication of your insanity, as are all of your posts. While you are hardly in a position to understand this (given your troubled mental condition) ... insanity puts people off. I am quite sure that you believe yourself a wonderfully logical and brilliant person ... I will leave you to your illusions.

Had you the remotest connection with reality, you would have recognised that you are engaging in libel and slander. Should you continue to persue this path, I will take all necessary legal action against you. Your identity is not as `unknown' as you assume it to be. Read up on case law and you will know that internet stalkers and slanderers have been successfully prosecuted on multiple occassions. However, one can hardly expect a `wet behind the ears' 24-25 year old to understand that.

You are a sad, sad person ...

You have, on previous occassions, threatened other genuinely legitimate companies and launched into non-sensical tirades which established little other than that you are a troubled person.

You are a truly bitter and envious person who desperately attempts to pin personal failures on others - hence, even though you claim to be a writer, you have (rather nonsensically) threatened other writers with exposition simply because they are more successful than you.

You are a thoroughly unethical individual who, due to being removed from the books of a particular company, threatened to expose clients - clients towards whom you are expected to show a modicum of respect. However, words such as `respect' (especially self-respect) are completely meaningless to you. You are thoroughly devoid of shame.

That you are a scammer is incontestable as you have previously engaged in identity theft, assuming the name of a Greenwich University lecturer - establishing that you are nothing but an insecure individual who (due to a range of intellectual, social and mental deficits) has to hide behind an assumed persona in order to find the confidence to address others.

Nothing about me or my company is open to discussion with one such as yourself ... engaging in any form of discussion with you would be a futile waste of time.

As for my identity and nationalities - I have previously published them on this forum. You have not uncovered any `hidden' facts but ones to which I have openly and PROUDLY admitted to.

The fact that you dispute the nature of my native language only evidences your very poor linguistic skills. Any who speak English would recognise that it is my native language. As you previously claimed, however, all native British and American writers have a poor grasp of the English language and that ESL writers are infinitely better - another illusion which I will not bother to address.

As for my places of graduation ... I hate to disillusion you but they include UK universities which would only consider you for the position of a janitor. Whether or not you like it, facts are facts.

I will not tell you to stop stalking me. I understand that your obsession with me is symptomatic of your psychosis. Plus - it is rather flattering as it goes to show just how much you feel threatened by me. Your nonsensical attacks and obsessive stalking will hardly affect me as you are exposing your own inadequacies, not mine. Were you to read through your posts, you would realise that you have harmed the reputation of none but yourself; that you have exposed nobody but yourself ....

I will not advise you to get a life because you are, quite evidently, a social pariah who cannot get a life, irrespective of the effort put into it.

As for WB's questions- yes, please mention the `good' and legitimate sites you work for or own. It is imperative that customers be warned.

By the way, I (as do others who really speak English) know that you are `pretending.' Even if you were to drop the pretence, however, your English remains very bad. Want tell us who you really are?

Now, for the final statement I will ever direct towards you - were I to even momentarily consider bringing people like you on board, my sites would definitely be scam sites.

Egyption mummy friend

Honestly! Couldn't `as if it were sane' have come up with something just a tad more original? Takes me back to my kindergarden years :)

"What does an Egyptian pharoh call his mother?
MUMMY"

Then we'd all fall down laughing :) I admit I was very silly as a three-year old.

Maybe I should be grateful towards `as if it had a clue'? By going on and on about Oxbridge, etc., `as if it had a brain' is really blasting my competition :)

how is mywriteteam?

So what about the name... it is good marketing

Or it could be a reference to where a couple of the owners graduated from :)
Any in doubt about the identity and nationality of the owners can check it out for themselves through the Companies House:)

belittle Pakistani and Indian writers

From experience, I can confirm that some Pakistani and Indian writers are truly excellent. Wonderful command of the language and really dedicated. Most companies hire ESL writers but try to deny it. Look for a company which openly states that it does and which pays ESL writers the same as it does native ones. Several do ...

am paid Pakistan 150 rupees (the deadline doesn't matter) which are equivalent to less than two dollars!!

That is pure exploitation and you should not allow it.

You really should conduct your own investigations ... you could be led astray here.

Dodging - I have missed your posts :) Very clear-headed.

Wannabe - Regarding which companies to trust ... you really have to do your own investigations. Ask yourself the following:
1) can the company prove that it is a `real company' (if itclaimsto be British, for example, you can confirm that by logging onto the companies house website)?

2) Most companies separate their client-end from their writer-end sites ... that, in itself, is not wrong AS LONG AS THE COMPANY DISCLOSES ITS AFFILIATIONS AND CLEARLY STATES ITS NETWORK. If they try to obscure or conceal the identity of their client-end sites, you need to ask yourself why?

3) Does the company have a fining system? if it does, be cautious ... some (not all) use the system to unfairly deduct writer dues
4) has the company disclosed your actual percentage (per order)? It should ...
5) Are you aware of the company's ownership structure (should be)?
6) does the company provide writers with contact info - tel, email, physical address?
7) what are the guarantees that you are going to get paid?

Talk to them before you sign on ... use your own instincts.

Yeah, so do I.

Given the amount of @$%&^ here - fat chance of the deception ending. Students will continue to be scammed and writers robbed. If they complain, they will be shouted down ...

Tarjama is an Arabic word and means translation.
The website registrant is Michael, a student at Pepperdine (undergrad). As he is studing linguistic theory, he probably chose that name in order to attract Saudi and other Arab Gulf students to his site. Note the Arabic sections?

At the end of the day, this is a website owned by an UNDERGRAD!

globaltides.pepperdine.edu/authorbios.htm

Michael came to Pepperdine from a small town named Lansing, Kansas. He is currently a senior and is preparing for graduation. He will soon be pursuing a graduate degree in Linguistics Theory and plans to continue writing whenever he has a free moment. His areas of interest are international relations, critical theory and culture theory.

------------------

Btw. I've received some English=Arabic translation spam email, but not sure if they are related:

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am a qualified translator with a M.A of English Language and Professional Translator. Translation is my job so, I am good in my work and in my excellent communication and translation skills.

For the past seven years and during my university studies I have worked for a local English community TV station, providing subtitling and translation services. I have also provided Arabic/English tutoring services to both international business professionals and students studying the English language.

I am completely fluent in English and get high distinction in all my language courses. I am also an extremely hard-working, responsible and mature worker I am available all the time . I really enjoy communicating with others, which is why I think I would be ideally suited to this role.

I would love the opportunity to work.

I look forward to being able to discuss the position with you further.

Your sincerely,

Translator / Writer

the outcome is still flawed and the deception is crystal clear.

Right on, EW. Writer Alex is claiming that the company contacted him (a UK resident) offering employment at their NY office :) And ... W-A is considering packing up and crossing the Atlantic ... It seems that there are no native-speaking writers in NY and fastwhatever is forced to recruit ESL writers residing in the `UK.'

TORG - as in the Oxbridge Research Group, best to avoid. Read through their company website and take note of just how fantastical their claims are. Added to that, the quality of their service is pretty inconsistent.

UKdissertations is owned and operated by ACADEMIC ANSWERS (ukessays, etc.) - a very reputable company ...

At the end of the day, however, it is best to shortlist some companies, talk to them and make your own judgement.

writecheck.turntin

Yes - you are right - especially as they introduced the option of NOT STORING ON STUDENT REPOSITORY. Until a few months ago, checking through turnitin killed the paper as papers were, by default, stored ... not anymore :)

Does anyone know if that NOT STORING option is, in any way, related to the copyright storm they came under?

Lavinia's comment is 15 months old ...

Indians can just speak English and produce poor quality articles

Good writers are good writers, irrespective of nationality. The whole argument here is not whether Indian writers are good or not (as many are superb) but whether ANYBODY and EVERYBODY should write (some of the so-called professional writers are rather bad ... both ESL and EFL)

mate!

BTW (any Brits here pls support me) - Contrary to popular assumption, Brits do not conclude every sentence with "mate" ... it's cockney slang. The reason why I am commenting on this is simply because it is all over the place - not just in this post but all over. It's just like concluding every sentence you direct towards an American with "bro" ...

land of voodoo

That's the Caribbean, not India :)

Actually dont :) And, not likely to since we are competitors ( a little thing called fair trading and all that makes it impossible). You stated your opinion based on your experience and I said that even though your opinion and judgement were valid (based on your experience), they are one of the best out there. EW and WB - do not drag me into this ... I like the two of you and actually believe that
1) this constant bickering looks very bad
2) that it is doing nobody any good

To all ESL writers, including EW - WB has repeadly stated that she is not against good ESL writers, ok? So let's not generalise

Now - I though the purpose of this forum wasto expose scam companies. the fact is that everyone jumps all over the place when anyone does.

Ukranian companies like EW and AR are scammers - is that in dispute? Besides evidence posted, don't many of us here have our own experiences?

How about this: let's focus on the topic and not the person.

In EW's defense - he is not a fraudster and he really is a good writer
In WB's defense - the fact isthat she does post the truth and backs it up through external sources ... so what in the hell is wrong with that.

I learnt a great deal from this forum - from the experiences of its members and, yes, the EVIDENCE posted here. Over the past weeks, however, all most of us have seen is ZERO. I definitely contributed to that by engaging with a certain member but I think that it is time to move ahead ... bring the forum back to its true purpose.

Exposing scammers works for both writers and customers ... so, why on earth should any turn this into a personal issue?

Today - an extremely clear-headed person who contacted me through this forum (new member) gave me some very good advise. Basically, we are making ourselves look very very bad - try to see what is going on here from the point of view of students? If I were them, I'd run screaming ... we are supposed to be professionals here; professionals whom students trust ...

In our capacity as professionals whose interests are best served by a clean industry image:
1) yes ... we should call out the mediocre ESL writers, as well as the poorer native writers. They have no place in this profession and they reflect badly on all of us.

2) of course scammers have to be exposed and, hopefully, driven out altogether.

Touchy subjects - ESL and fraudulent companies ... however, the good ESL writers should never take this personally, just as the legits should not be bothered by the exposition of their fraudulent competitors ...

For the record ... remember the sudden splurge of positive posts about ...? Repeatedly denied it, being absolutely sure that had no role in it. Hated all of you for not believing it ... but really started thinking. Guess what? Found out that you guys were right -the posts had been instigated by an insider (now outsider). What I am saying here is that this forum is damn good and, from a personal perspective, terribly helpful. So ... let's keep it that way. Cleaning up the industry by, at least, helping students and writers avoid the scammers, is in all of our interests ...
