Writing Careers / About writerbay.com ? [54]

I picked up Writerbay as an account about a month ago. The pay is horrific. $5-$6.50 per page. For rush orders, it is $7.60+, but those are few and far between. That sucks, but it isn't the main problem. The main problem with Writerbay is that most of the assignments are 1-2 pages, and often you will need to do a page or two extra to complete an assignment.

To be honest, I have had nothing but bad experiences with this company in the last month. Aside from **** pay, there has been a few instances where they changed up what was asked of me post-hoc. For example, I completed a business analysis paper for a client, and the client came back saying they wanted a whole slew of financial data jammed into the paper as well, and that this wouldn't affect page count because it belonged in the appendix. I told them that it was bull****, but they just said "if you cannot revise we will give order to another writer" (their grammar, not mine), and to maintain a good relationship and to get pay for work performed on the order, I just went ahead and did it. Kinda sucked because I did 3 hours of work for $20.

I've taken a few "revision" orders where I revised work of others. I gotta say, I have no clue how these people pass the grammar or style tests. This order I took the other day had no headings, a boatload of bullets and the grammar was Kenyan as ****. I revised it for the client (re-wrote the entire paper) and now the client is jamming it up because their customer service has trained clients to ask for revisions and not even specify what needs to be revised.

In short, Writerbay is ESL trash, the agents are ****** to writers, the pay is horrific and they don't keep their word. It is a good account to have for slow periods because they always have work (because they're probably cheap as hell), but as a writer you should alway value your time.

Writing Careers / About writerbay.com ? [54]

The leading writer income stats thing suggests to me that a few people might burn themselves out or may be multiple people on one account. Below is the current top 10.

Bay Writer11125 Writer $4504
253537933 Writer $3559
16463 Writer $2874
262198408 Writer $2856
251988118 PRO writer $2711
259292733 Writer $2611
110686 Writer $2484
21104 Writer $2424
4969 Writer $2188
3158 Writer $2150

Notice the drop off from one to two? notice the dropoff from two to three? three to ten? That's incredible.

Let's consider the base pay. Base pay on orders varies from $5 to like $9 on the rare ultra-rush grad order.

Bonuses, from what I can see vary from 10% to about 35%. Let's say someone has a weighted average pay per page of $7.00 (very generous). They would be pulling in $9.45 after bonus. The highest paid person would have to write 477 pages in 30 days. That would mean almost 16 pages a day.

So in the most profitable scenario conjured up, they would still need to write 16 pages a day. Granted, a 16 page day isn't that big a deal, I was doing 20 pages no problem at one point, but at writerbay they take 1-2 page orders like crazy. So you have to set up, get into the topic, then wrap up like 10 times in a 16 page day. Then you're doing 1 page in TNR, you will have spill-over on each paper, so it becomes 20 pages TNR, then you have revisions where clients add **** post-hoc and these people are all Indian so they don't understand you, they call you on the phone at all hours, it's just a pain.

I think they are doing some things to make it work better as a business, but the design is pedantic because, tbh, I am a good, fast, dependable writer and I like to make a decent wage per page. They just don't value good or dependable, they just want fast. Everyone in the industry wants to be a cost leader, everyone ditches quality. What sucks is that means you gotta do more dissertation, thesis and capstone work and those can be a real headache. The good thing is that Kenyans, EEs and Asians can't do that stuff worth a darn.

Here in Michigan, we have to conserve salt for the roads during winter months. We use it to melt ice. I think that it might be more economical to just roll a bunch of Uvocorp customers out on the road instead. These people are salty as hell. I don't blame them, either. Uvo screws everyone.

If "full mastery" became the base standard for promotion we would need to fundamentally restructure K-12 curriculum to narrow scope and be prepared to have many people in the system their entire lives. It's not feasible, but it would create a lot more work for us.

Agreed, PV. Self-management skills are absolutely essential in this field. We perform several projects of varying size every day. In any given week, we will have about 20 micro projects (homework assignments), a few short-term projects carrying over from week to week (proposals, capstones, anything where the student is turning in bits and pieces of a complete work) and long-term deals (thesis and dissertation work). Reading up on project management and applying some of those principles is quite useful. This career, side gig, whatever, requires good self-management if you are going to be successful.

I was writing for writerbay for about a month. I completed about $900 worth of work for the company. I noticed I did not receive payment and checked into it. Found that I had entered in the email address incorrectly. This was my mistake.

I filled out a form to notify management about this. In response, I was told that payment was successfully credited to the paypal account initially registered and it would not be possible for them to fix this.

I could accept I made an error and it was my responsibility to fix it, however, I wanted to check into some things. I sent a dummy email to the erroneous email I gave when signing up the paypal. It bounced back as rejected. I tried sending payment of 3 cents to the erroneous paypal. Wouldn't accept.

If you work for writerbay, watch your ass.

That isn't how paypal works. I did exactly what you suggested yesterday, and the payments they SAID were confirmed were obviously not there.

I called them to ask about it. I asked to speak with a manager and they couldn't put me through.
