A list that will help people not get scammed?

Would it be possible to formulate a list of writing companies that are registered in the UK or USA, et al?

It is clear that foreign companies put people in real danger of being scammed. Therefore, surely a list of the UK based companies would help eliminate this risk, whist also not advertising any company, which is against the rules of the forum?

Exactly phee!!!

If this site wants people to stop getting scammed, then this is a workable solution. It appears to me that this forum is all mudslinging and no solutions.

Exposing scams, is excellent! But surely, assisting people in not getting scammed in the first-place would also be productive?

Prevention is better than cure?

Has anyone heard of, or dealt with the above company? Are they scammers? I cannot find anything on them.

Disappointed StudentI'm unsure of the rules on this, am I able to post a link to a legal forum?

They might be able to give guidance on dealing with this situation.

I've managed to access the rules and I believe I am able to post this:

OP, if you continue to have problems, this site might be able to assist you (UK Law):

Mods; this is a forum much the same as essayscam (no profit motivation and nothing to do with me).

Please delete and accept my apology if I have misinterpreted the rules on this.

Writing Careers / Writing for Academic Knowledge [160]

My experience with Academic Knowledge has been great. The fines are not an issue. If you do the job you have been paid to do, there is no need to worry about fines. Furthermore, if you do a good job and have return customers, you get a bonus. Granted, some companies do take advantage of the fine system. However, good companies don't want to fine their writers; they need them.

I work primarily from my own business and use AK as a 'side job.' If you would like to visit my website, which includes my company registration number, please feel free to email me.

I agree with DontBugMe - as with working for companies, there are pros and cons to working with private clients. However, I prefer working for private clients. It is much more personal than having a mediator, and it also allows me to ask questions and find out exactly what the client wants. The work they receive is thus to a higher standard.

Dear Solidarity,

Thank you for sharing. I am not familiar with Research Papers Custom and have not worked for them. Just like all organizations get some negative feedback, the same applies to essay companies. It is rare we hear the positive feedback, making it difficult to identify the good companies from the bad. I hope that your experience improves.

Solidarity, it does sound like they have assigned a writer to your essay and would have contacted you if there was a problem. I understand why you are anxious though, especially if you haven't used an essay service before. You still have 5 days, so try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know).

Sorry to hear this story!

Here is a UK legal forum, that will (hopefully) assist you in knowing your rights:

swarb.co.uk/phpbb/index.php

Don't let them get away with this! It's companies like this that give us genuine writers a bad name and we must do all we can to stop them.

That is good news, solidarity. If the change you need are in line with your original request, then the writer should do it for free. However, if the changes are those that you have decided on reflection and after submitting your original request, then it would usually be classed as additional work and thus require further payment. When I am writing for a client I always says that I will make any reasonable changes free of charge, reasonable meaning that they aren't asking for whole new sections, etc., just some minor modifications.

If you can do the changes yourself, it will save you some money and allow you to give some 'shape' to your final work.

Ok so I am wondering, did you get your paper?

notalent, I am sorry to hear about your loss. Much of my work comes from students who, in the main, are very capable of completing their assignments but are faced by unforeseen circumstances. Since they are not accustomed to 'handing their work over' to someone else they can be very anxious. This is understandable, but if you choose the right company or person then this can be a good option for you during what must be a difficult time.

Do your research before selecting a company and, if possible, get the work completed in time for you to make any amendments if you are not completely happy with the final essay.

Good luck and let us know how your experience goes.

Essay Services / academicwritersonline.com [22]

Gargoyle, I agree with essaybrah that it is best to go by recommendations. I have never heard of the company you cite, so cannot comment on how trustworthy they are. Just make sure you do your homework before selecting who to go with. Good luck.

Safe Student[Moved from]:

A method to try and ensure you are not scammed in the UK.

All companies or individuals who write essays for student have a legal requirement to be registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioners Office (as per the Data Protection Act). To become registered with the ICO you must have previously registered with Company House. With this in mind, before doing business with anyone I recommend that you search the ICO database, for the company or individual:

ico.gov.uk/what_we_cover/promoting_data_privacy/keeping_the_register.aspx

You then ask the potential service provider for a landline number. Ensure that the landline number correlates to the telephone area code for the address given on the database.

It is a criminal offense to offer a service involving any kind of data (in the UK) and not be a registered data controller.

As I'm UK based, I am not aware of any similar international legislation. If you are aware of relevant legislation, please post.

I am actually training to be a counsellor and once trained I am likely to offer this service also. There is no reason why the two services can't both be offered. In fact, I have had enquiries already from people who have purchased essays. I wouldn't, however, offer a service until I can provide the very best.
