essaywriters.net new scam (charging writers $50 for writer transfers?)

Hi,

Im a relatively new freelance writer working for two months and now believes that I made a mistake into this field. I joined essaywriters.net and completed several orders for them. My total amounts are 93 dollars. Dec 1-3 was the time period in which I was about to be paid. I messaged them since Dec 3 and today I got a new message saying that they are operating with a new bank. The bank charges fifty dollars fees for wire transfer. Now like Im astonished and believe that this is unfair. I believe that essay writing websites are a fraud.. Indeed I am going to my old profession as a system administrator...I would like to enlighten people about new scam policy of essaywriters.net.

Regards

$50?!? Is this true? My payment for the same period has been delayed and it still hasn't reached me. Do you mean to say that you recieved only $43? Did essaywriters.net confirm that the bank they switched to charged you $50? That IS too much.

Yes this is true....I haven't recieved any payments at all....Those idiots were making one excuse after the another for witholding my payments. After saying that the new wire transfer charges are fifty dollars, they said that my papers will undergo a weekly quality check....That is what pissed me and I deactivated my account....If I were you I would stop writing for those scammers.......They are cheats and fraud....I lost 173 dollars because of these cheats and frauds...

I thought they charged you 50 bucks for the transfer? Anyway, I just got paid. They lifted the $15 fee they used to charge for transfers below $400. I think that's a good thing.

Anyone having a problem with their Dec. 15 payments from essaywriters.net?
jassrosy  - | 6

Author Chargeyes, i am having the problem in dec. 15 payouts maybe because of transferring my new account on xoom rather that wire transfer. Lately, I found out that it was already verified.

I'll just keep you posted about the system of EW, so far I think we should understand the process of communication with CS and the EW staff.

Try to understand for sometimes that they served and employed people worldwide.

Thanks.

PS. Dont rely on wire transfer, if they put it on that way of paying you. Instead, you must choose your own mode of how to pay you back like what I did, I used xoom instead of wire transfer which they just decided to be that way.

Try look at the profile and search for another mode of payment in EW. You can see if the mode of payment from your account application is verified or not. If you have problem try to talk with CS.

Just proper communication..

out of curiosity, do you all pay fees for the use of these different electronic transfer/payment methods? I stopped accepting paypal payments for writing work a few months back because the fees charged to use the service added up quickly. using paper checks means waiting a couple of days for payment but for me it meant no fees taken out of my pay.

@jassrosy: I was told I'd get paid within 24 hours. So far, their promises have been good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

@Lavinia: Xoom charges about $9.99 for $500. I don't mind getting charged since the money goes to my account within the day.

After 24 hours have passed there's no payment as promised. Oh, well, life happens.

And now I'm told the payment will be made on Monday. LOL.

Hi, I'm currently working for a local company but I think it is an extension of essaywriters.net since the payments that I received before was sent by essaywriters.net, not the local company that I was supposedly working for. Here's the thing, every pay date, I always have to ask and continue on messaging them to send me my payment, which they would after a week. However, now, after reading all the posts here, I'm a little scared that my payment for Dec 15 won't be transferred to me as it is already one week delayed.

margie: they promised to send me my payment Monday the latest. Let's see.

From them:

you should not worry,as we are not a fraud company.

The delay occurred thus month due to the fact that we started cooperating with a new bank they check all the transactions thoroughly and that's why money is currently held by the bank. The transaction will be completed this week for sure.

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience and we will make sure such an unpleasant situation won't take place in future.

Best regards,
Anna Grahm

I haven't been paid for Dec 15 - 17 yet also. >.< They said it's gonna be this week but since its xmas season, all the banks are closed so I won't be able to check till the 26th. I got my Dec 1 - 3 payment more than a week late as well. They said it was coz they were using a new bank too.

@imee
are you from writer.ph?

@margie
I've tried xoom using my paypal account but it hasn't worked yet. >.< Can you advise me on what error I'm possibly committing? At the moment, the transaction is at cancellation pending -> credit in progress. Thanks.

@EW_writer:

My Dec 1 payment was also late for four days. When I asked customer service why it was delayed, I was told it was due to some technical problems, which was probably true because some credits in my account were doubled that week.

As for xoom, I'm not sure what "cancellation pending -- credit in progress" means. The usual flow is like this:

Transaction initiated
Bank Account Payment in Progress
Payment Authorization Pending
Processing Payment
Payment Authorization Successful
Money Available for Recipient
Processing Disbursement
Bank Deposit in Progress
Transaction Completed.

Xoom will email you the transaction's progress. If it's Underway already (i.e., payment authorization successful), then you'll get your money within the day or the day after. There are delays when the sender's account doesn't have enough funds (obviously) or your account information is erroneous. The best thing you should do is to ask xoom's customer service.

It's Monday night and I haven't received a xoom message yet. Time to pester EW's customer reps. ",)

I've just had a chat with Susan and Jennifer (or whoever they may be) and I was assured that my payment will be processed within the day. I certainly hope so. I'll check again by 1 a.m. I hope we all get paid before Christmas day. Merry Christmas everyone! :=)

Just great. Didn't you guys say the delay in your payment was because you're all using wire transfer? That's funny. I just got an mail from EW saying I have to received money using wire transfer because xoom is not working, uh, properly for them.

@margie
Thanks. The thing is, I'm always cut before "payment succesful". Instead, I get "cancellation pending". I did ask xoom's customer care already but all they had to say was that I'm in violation of TOS. When I asked what violations I committed, the email reps said they didn't know. >.< *sigh*..

@the transfer
Well, Merry Christmas everyone. :( I'll have to wait until the 26th to see if they money's in the bank already. Let's all hope for the best.

@EW_writer: I hope they'd pay me this week. I've been writing for them for the past three months. This is the first time that payment has been like this. How about you?

@Imee: You better call your bank now. The information they'd need for wire transfer can easily be obtained from your bank.

Been working for em for a while now. Payment was also delayed horribly several months back (June I think..). You told me that you just submitted your bank details a few days ago right? Coz xoom won't work (they said)? I guess that should cause even further delays.

@imee
What about you imee? This your first time?

@Lavinia
Thanks for not being antagonistic against us ESL writers for a change (I assume that our Filipino friends here also have English as a second language. Forgive me if I'm wrong). I hope we can all get along better this new year. Happy Holidays!

I submitted my wire transfer details and I did not stop bugging them until they verified my payment detail so that processing my payment may commence. However, they said that they will process both my payments for Dec 15 and Jan1 because I chose wire transfer $400 no fee, and since my accumulated payments for Dec 15 and Jan 1 would amount to $400 they decided to process it on Jan3 instead.

It was on their message to their writers that everybody should use wire transfer as their primary method of payment and they promised that they won't take any fees, but when I told them that I want my $250 before the year ends (since they promised they won't take any fees), they told me I signed for the $400 no fee so I have to wait for the sum to reach that amount before anything can be processed.

I would have changed my method of payment to $200 ($15 fee) if I didn't realize that it would take them again a long time to verify it.

So, now, I gave in, no money before the New Year. January 3 is my best bet.

@EW_Writer

What do you mean first time? This is not my first time to receive payment. The first two paychecks were a week delayed because it takes one week for xoom to process the payment before pick-up. I was okay with that already. However, I got upset when it's been a week after Dec 15 and I didn't get any email notification from xoom, so I started asking them what's going on.

This delay started my suspicions and I came across this forum and discovered how they conned many writers before me. However, I am not all pessimistic, I still have my fingers crossed hoping I'd get paid for my efforts.

As do all other writers...Urgh.

I've stopped pestering them, Imee. I got tired. :)

The last time I asked, I was told the Dec. 15 payment will be processed Jan. 1 and the Jan. 1 payment will be processed on schedule. Okaay...

I would have pestered them some more but my boyfriend said I'm not starving so why risk getting a high blood pressure? :=) I got his point. It's just money, anyway. If they'll pay, I'm going to be happy. If they won't, I've learned a lesson the hard way and I could probably do a write-up for some local papers to discourage others from writing for the company.

Dec 28, 2007 | #29
hahaha! you're right Margie.

If they'll pay I'll be very happy, if they won't... then I can't do anything about that anymore.

Happy New Year!!!

p.s. I even wished them Happy Holidays hoping the spirit of the holidays would get to them hehehe but efforts are futile, so it seems...

Hello NO PAYMENT YET

same with margie, December and January now :(

btw, i met another writer who also works for EW, and she gets paid in the period of 6 months consistently!!! why is that? we live in the same country and she gets paid and i don't?

is it a trick to have an earning below $100 to get paid? hmmm she only turns in $40 every cut off.

Jan 03, 2008 | #35
My earnings for Dec. 15 and Jan. 1 have moved to the paid column, Imee. I've yet to see the amount reflected on my account though. I wonder how fast wire transfers take? Shouldn't they be instantaneous?

EW_writer and jassrossy: did you get your Jan 1 payments?
EW_writer  21 | 1981 ☆☆☆
Jan 03, 2008 | #36
Well, they're not instantaneous. Usually takes 3 to 5 days. Although the last two took two weeks. >.< The payment in my writer account has updated also for Jan 1 - 3. The money's not yet in the bank though. Let's hope that there aren't any more delays.
margie  - | 52
Jan 03, 2008 | #37
Oh, really? I thought wire is better than xoom. Xoom transactions are usually instantaneous. I wonder when they'll allow xoom payments again. What caused the two-week delay?

Imee, maybe your payment will be sent today.
EW_writer  21 | 1981 ☆☆☆
Jan 03, 2008 | #38
Wire is the safest (thus best) way of sending money since it's bank to bank. Xoom never worked for me. :( Maybe it only works for some countries. The two week delays on both payments were supposedly caused by their new bank. That's why I'm fearful that we might experience the same delay for this payment.
margie  - | 52
Jan 03, 2008 | #39
They said the problem was fixed. I hope so. ",)
imee  2 | 17
Jan 04, 2008 | #40
Yeah it reflected on my earnings too that I got paid January 3 but no money in the bank yet. The bank said it takes 2- 3days, saturday tomorrow so i guess next week. I hope there's no more delays.
