Just found this site, and wish I found it a lot sooner. I have been using various essay writing sites for the last 3 months, this is mostly due in part to my laziness. My experience hasn't been so great, but since my laziness always prevails I still manage to go back for more. I understand there are some good and not so good writers on this forum. So I hope to filter through the different writers/companies to determine who is reliable.

I came across this site and at first thought that this was a review site for essay writing companies, but from the posts that I have read it isn't...because that would be against the forum rules to post anything negative. And I have figured out from the post that there are some writers here and students but they are not really allowed to discuss __________ because that would also be against the rules. So what is the point of the forum?

I just joined the board and thought it might be polite to introduce myself as you might see me poking in and out.

I have used a writing assistance company in the past (CP) and was really happy with it. I don't recall the name so don't ask, but ever since then I realized the value of the assistance of professionals in the field. Much like when I assist others and save them time and money, I appreciate you writers and research assistants out there. I hope to meet some quality writers and RA's and use your service. I am a busy student that is taking care of a disabled family member and working full time. Not a sob story, just letting you know where I am coming from. I am upbeat and try to help where I can. Wanted to say hello to all of you. I have been reading through this forum a long time now, but never actually registered. Don't know why exactly, but I suppose the level of bitterness I witnessed towards non-native writers got me off. I do hope I was wrong, and this will prove to be a rewarding, loving community of writers that help each other detect scamming and untrustworthy sites.

Yes, I am non-native, and proud of it. Though, life would be easier..............daydreaming again.

I don't think anybody here has any problem with ESL writers who admit they're ESL, just with those who argue that it's perfectly fine for them to misrepresent their ESL status to customers. There's also some rightfully deserved ridicule of ESL writers who maintain the position that being ESL "doesn't matter" when every sentence they type on this forum demonstrates the exact opposite.

There really is no point in trying to conceal your origin. English natives use constructs that are almost impossible to copy. As for my personal experience, customers didn't complain about my writing style, so i imagine it is passable. The other part is much more relevant anyway.

There's nothing in your language use so far that would have tipped anybody off that you're ESL. Ironically, the ESLs who get most offended at the suggestion that their use of language makes it obvious are usually the very same ones who argue the hardest that it "doesn't matter" or "shouldn't matter" to prospective American, British, and Australian customers.

About the ESL - I work as an editor for several sites, as a part time gig. Majority of writers are ESL, much like me. But, they originate from Pakistan, India and other Middle/Far Eastern countries. While i am not the one to judge, I think it has something to do with the English program they have in schools. Most of them use antiquated words, some of which became obsolete about 120 years ago, others struggle with syntax and use of adjectives.

I think they regard their English skills to be excellent, which is probably true, by Eastern standards. In US/UK they are not however, and that could be the reason why they are so defensive.
