Greetings everyone,

I have been viewing the threads on this site for around three months now, and have finally decided to create an account. It has been fascinating resource for those who enjoy writing academic material and honing their skills. I have been surprised to see the amount of illegitimate writing sites out there--whose sole goal is to make a profit from cheating both clients and providers. In this vein, I was curious about proficientwriters.com. While it *appears* legitimate (from reading the threads on this site and from external reviews posted by other authors) I have learned that many fraudulent companies out there have great layouts. I utilized the search engine but, as of yet, have not found any information regarding their services. I was curious if anybody has had any personal experience with this company?

Thanks in advance

Jess

Regards WritersBeware,
You do an amazing job on here, even if the environment here can be a little harsh? On that note thanks from a stranger who really appreciates your efforts! Regarding what Shriek said, while it's true that he made an invalid statement, the underlying theme is definitely...understandable don't you think? I mean, after having spent countless hours sifting, poring, and sieving through this forum--- I can only find two sites which offer a legitimate service. I understand that you write for SRN, but in actuality I guess it is kind of surprising that out of the 300+ sites which have been researched on this site, only 2 or three seem to have any basis in authenticity. I understand this--as you have said before--this is EssaySCAM not EssayAPPROVEDSITES, or any other such naming, but it can be disheartening I suppose. Maybe in some way I am a freak abberation, in that I really miss academic writing, and am looking for a forum/agency/etc. where one can hone their modest skills/

Greetings again,

Study NotesIn the small amount of time I have been able to view these threads, it appears as though there is a fairly hard toe line on what constitutes a scam as far as an essay writing site goes, yet in this vein; I guess I wonder if it is that simple...?

I understand that when a website,

A. Does not pay you.

B. Lies about their physical address.

C. Does not have a customer support branch, nor have any protocol for dealing with disputes in place.

D. Fines you unreasonably.

it pretty much constitutes a scam.. yet I wonder if there are degrees* of scams in certain companies.

Specifically I mean companies which, might have just started up and do not have the capabilities in place yet to deal with the (at times I'm sure) massive undertaking of setting up such sites?

I am probably being quite naive, yet I I am wondering if there is a somewhat murky line (at times) between scam, and incapable?

Affiliated writing networks

I don't know if this is posted in the right thread, if not feel free to move it.
I was wondering if anybody knows whether *********, SRN, and Custom Essays are affiliated with each-other?
Thank you
Jess

Hi I have a question for any out reputable writers out there...Is it normal for reputable companies to have a minimum accrual amount for release of your funds? Furthermore, is it legitimate to have part of your funds held back each month as some form of insurance method for the next month?

Thanks,
Jess

Over the course of reading through various threads, I see that many legitimate writing companies employ a seniority based system with regards to what orders are accessible by their writers. Someone, I think WritersBeware? mentioned that it would be impractical to do otherwise, which I suppose I can understand. However, as such I am wondering if *said* companies such as SNR or CP have actual quantifiable guidelines to measure seniority and merit? Are the activities of writers monitored in a hierarchical level based system from feedback of clients, and number of orders taken? Or is it much more analogous to lions at feeding time-- basically being "first come first serve" so that those at the top can make a decent wage, while those near the bottom are making a pittance? I hope this question makes sense, and thanks in advance!

Regards,
Jess

Hierarchical and analogous aren't big words pheelkys, but thanks for playing and being an unhelpful ass-- as per usual. Does someone actually have something relevant?
JessD
Apr 04, 2011

It is perfectly clear Tom. By first come first serve, are orders within these companies:
A. Immediately accessible by everyone--the first one to claim the order, writes the order.
OR
C. Certain orders are only accessible only by certain writers, which is determined by a measurable skill level from said company.

Yes, I realize wrote C. instead of B.

Ugh, I hate that forums here turn into something mean spirited and moreover; ridiculous. WTH was your point in posting Meokhan, except to cause drama?!? The fact of the matter is that, yes, pheelkys you are completely right-- I was too verbose and ridiculous in trying to ask a question which could be phrased in much simpler terms. It is just that sometimes I type as I speak, which can be excessively overwrought. However, as someone who is busting* their ass trying to become a better writer, and provide a service; I hate that any questions here get shot down so immediately and dismissively... I am not an ESL speaker (I say that with no judgment,) I am not someone who is trying to make a quick buck ( because that is all it is, quick and unworthy,) but I AM someone who graduated from a fairly reputable college, and is looking to make a side income doing something I love---namely, writing academic papers. I know that I have much room for growth and improvement in my writing and moreover, this forum is full of fakes, cheaters, liars etcetcetc...but any assistance you can give in regards to these companies is truly appreciated beyond any monetary value. I hope you can forgive me for calling you an ass; such behavior is childish and unnecessary--for that I apologize.

Thanks again,
Jesse

Essay Writer HierarchyI get by FW, this is not the issue. However, would a Ford mechanic tell someone who just drove an Italian Maserati into the their shop they would be able to repair it? No, likely they wouldn't depending on what the problem was. Likewise, if someone asks me if I can write a 20 pg thesis concerning the working of a particle accelerator, in 2 days, would I accept the order? No I would not, and have not for similar projects. Did I ever claim to be this guy?

chronicle.com/article/The-Shadow-Scholar/125329/

Again. Hell no.

However, if an individual approaches me and asks me if I can write a thorough and comprehensive 5 page essay on the societal mores of Japan, would I take the order? Yes, and I would do so willingly. Considering I lived in Nagoya for 2 years, have knowledge of the subject and wrote about it regularly I would be more than confident in my own abilities. As such, I have no doubt that you are echelons higher than me in your writing abilities F.W. However, is an amateur photographer not capable of taking decent photography and furthermore making it for sale? Yes, if the millions of successful boutiques in my town are anything to go by. Are the customers expecting a level of work that is comparable to Steve McCurry, Art Wolfe or Annie Leibowitz? No, of course not. However, this does not make his contribution any less of one. Additionally, the fact that you think E-Lance is SO below your your standards is hilarious, to say the least. Considering that YOU set the bids, and that there is AMPLE work in many fields of writing, your "it's a poor man's site" holds little water. Well...I am off to not be very bright.

Fair enough.

*However, would a Ford mechanic tell someone who just drove an Italian Maserati into the their shop that they would be able to repair it?

knowledge of the subject lack of comma and wrote about it regularly

There are others. I understand your point. When I write on here, I often do so very quickly and without revision. Even though it's a forum, I understand that this is NO excuse. I will pay more attention in future posts.

A consummate professional who also portrays himself as self-satisfied. How utterly delightful. Until, you show us your tax returns F.W. or any other indication that you are *that* guy-- I will take you at face value, which mean no value at all.

P.S.
There was no mistake ass (or as you would say, a$$) but thanks for playing.

www-personal.umich.edu/~jlawler/aue/they.html

You can use they generically, which violates the Rule of Grammar that says
that they is Plural, and therefore can't be used with Singular reference, even Indefinite Singular reference, just as you can't use we.
(This violates a Number Agreement rule)

Once the patient is prepped, they should
be moved into the delivery room.

Neither rule seems to me worth dying for, since they're just generalizations about number and gender agreement, and Number and Gender are just abstract grammatical properties. On its surface, it should be about as important to public policy as, say, Goldbach's Conjecture. Obviously, everybody does as they please, for whatever reason pleases them.

I can also reference Strunk and White's Elements of Style if you wish. Thanks for the attempted lesson. Much appreciated =)

Logic ResearchWow, while I usually detest Pheelyks (and I quote) "a-hole-y" and rude attitude, it is not hard to understand how one could become enraged past the point of reason if they spent enough time on this forum.

Stu4, your argument makes no sense at all... Yes, although some illegitimate companies might share a infinitesimal overlap pool of writers with legitimate companies, they are still a SCAM. The writer is, quite possibly, the least of your problems If it is an illegitimate company it could:

A. Resell your paper, and thus have it end up in a plagiarizing database.

B. Hold your product, and try to negotiate a higher rate.

C. Not offer a refund if the paper is late.

Etcetcetc

From the amount that I have seen in this, "industry" it appears that legitimate companies have policies and guidelines in place to protect both writers and clients.

Seriously...WHAT?

I like your style Pheelyks.

The fact that you have to assign emotional value to this is evidence of your insecurity, not my "rage."

Within reason? You are obviously a talented writer-- if your posts hold any indication of your abilities. However, when you say things like "c bag" "a-holey" etc., it becomes hard to take you seriously. I mean if you are here to help people (which you say you have done) then what is the necessity of saying things like "f-tard". It is a waste of typing...I mean, seriously, you are feeding the animals. There will always be ESL unqualified writers, illogical arguments, and outright lies.

Just something to think on from this unqualified speck ;)

Listen to pheekls,
I wrote approximately twenty articles for them and made 60 bucks. They will pay you on time and the requirements are not that difficult, but for the amount of time spent it is simply not worth it.

Ok WB, as this site is meant to promote the honesty and integrity of the company, I call B.S. I know that this site is not a scam, but in the same veinm everyone has the right to know what his experience. If this site is not capable of delivering what it says it is capable than this is two steps away from a Ukranian company-- regardless of whether or not he gets his money back s it is a form of false advertising. You are not breaking any rules by sharing your experience gambit and do not be cowed into thinking otherwise. There are many people out there who can learn from your experience, and I for one would be more than happy to hear it.

No idiot,

Obviously the grocery store would not be held liable, however if the products on their shelf are expired, damaged or all around crap, then yes they are liable. I was not only referencing their ability to finish the order, but the quality of the product. Once again, you jump the gun. Good job!!!!.
JessD
Apr 18, 2011

In the context of the Ukranian companies, they often deliver a ****** product at best, and steal your money at worst. If a *legitimate* company falls into the latter, this does not somehow negate that the customer did not receive what was obligated. If I go to Dairy Queen and order a burger (gross) and they give me something that resembles a piece of meatloaf, we have a problem Phee. Yes, I undoubtedly have to improve upon my writing skills, and I'll make sure to look to your succinctly written *mediocrity* as my template.

dictionary.reference.com/browse/neologism

You are kind of a pretentious idiot pheek. This is not a new word, it was a ridiculous attempt at wit.

mediocrity/Noun
1. The quality or state of being mediocre.
2. A person of mediocre ability

"Tongue-in-cheek is a phrase used as a figure of speech to imply that a statement or other production is ironically intended and it should not be taken at face value"

Yea, my stupid is showing...

riiiiiigggggghhhhhhhhttttttt

Not in love with you. Once again, you fail. Nice try.
JessD
Apr 18, 2011

* When I stated I would use your mediocrity as my template, it is a noun.

Yes, I undoubtedly have to improve upon my writing skills, and I'll make sure to look to your succinctly written *mediocrity* as my template.

I think I am in love with you Phee.

* Tongue in cheek is saying I am in love with you.

Any more questions, idiot?

Apr 19, 2011

I did NOT use it wrong pheeklys.

If I used brilliance instead,

"I'll make sure to look to your succinctly written *brilliance* as my template."

instead, it would still be correct. Because I said *written* it references what you type on this forum.

And, yes, I do enjoy getting spanked-- but that is a whole other conversation.
JessD
Apr 19, 2011

brilliance/Noun

mediocrity/Noun

They are both nouns which can reference a state of being moron. The definition is not plugged in word for word as you did. You seriously, seriously fail.

The usage of asterisks should be quotation marks with a leading comma. I also did not say as it was not spoken aloud. Go back to community college.

How do you propose one go about strengthening their writing skills? Instead of pointing out the glaringly obvious, maybe you could offer something of substance...

Writing Careers / Succeeding as an academic writer? [31]

For those who do this as a living,

Do you think that you have to have a passion for writing in order to be able to be successful at this job? From what I have gleaned, making money from this line of writing requires the ability to write huge volumes of work, in short periods of time. It seems like the best writers out there are those taking "rush" orders. How long did it take you before you felt comfortable taking those large volumes of work? Is this profession simply a teach-yourself-solitary-endavor, or are there resources where one can learn and strengthen their own academic-writing abilities.

Regards,
Jess

For those who do this for a living, how hard has it been learning the various styles? I have noticed that, for me at least, the most different part of essay writing has been learning the endless differences between Chicago, MLA, APA, Turabian, etc... I always try to go above and beyond in the correct formats, but am I stressing over something that is not even paid much attention to anyways? Do you guys cite as you go along, or go back through the paper at the end and add your citations/footnotes?

srandrews,
Apparently, I need to make 500 posts to contact another writer on this site. I had some questions about contracting work, and was wondering if you can email me at @gmail
