Writers: What do you say?

yeah, probably.

they could barely spell. the only reason I rarely reference them is that I believe they are still reading.

WB definitely liked to swear a lot and often appeared near the edge of lunacy, but I don't think your characterization of them is at all fair vis a vis their spelling abilities (and presumably their general intelligence, as is implied). As to your ongoing battle with entities that can't even respond, I guess I'll leave you to it, though it doesn't seem to be having any affect other than lowering the standards of discussion around here.

How would that even be possible?

The only person here throwing random and cryptic insults about is editor75. To me, that represents a lower standard of discussion than most of what goes on here, except for michael890's recent foray into a bestiality narrative. Though many other conversations are not of great practical value, they do tend to represent a mutually beneficial/enjoyable exchange of ideas.

Well, that was entirely necessary. Thank you for elevating your usual brand of rhetoric to engage in that bit of eloquence.

such frosty pomposity! it's too bad you've proven yourself a nitwit.
JohnsMom  - | 266
Oct 22, 2012 | #127
How exactly have I proven myself a nitwit? By using one incorrect homophone? I'm sure I could find a mistake in one of your posts if I cared to look, but I have yet to see you write anything of substance so I don't really think it would be worth my time.

At least you're trying to troll someone who's still on the forum now. That makes you seem something less of a whingy adolescent.

except for michael890's recent foray into a bestiality narrative.

i'm not even going to address this.

You did address it. You're also the one that posted here about someone having sexual relations with your dog. I wish I were making this up, believe me.

Again, you're the one posting publicly about this nonsense. Bristling when you this ridiculousness is pointed out doesn't make any sense.

so, let me get this straight-- you could find a mistake in my posts if you wanted, but you aren't going to bother. wow, that's a real crusher. do you argue on the internet often?
JohnsMom  - | 266
Oct 22, 2012 | #133
That isn't what I said at all, but if you're so anxious here's one:

maybe you'll try to cinch another argument using urbandictionary.com

The word you were looking for is "clinch." Maybe this was a mix-up, maybe this was a typo, and either way it proves nothing. You spent most of this thread railing against two users claiming you are a credible alternative to their pettiness, and then instead of engaging in anything like a productive discussion you continue insulting these two users when they're long gone and making petty claims from petty evidence, like claiming I'm a nitwit based on a single error.

I don't know why pheelyks and WritersBeware were banned, but I fully understand why the moderators wouldn't want any non-members able to see your posts. It certainly wouldn't be a useful way to attract new users to the forum.

Now here's an interesting word: "Yawp": "to talk noisily and foolishly or complainingly."

I'll have to use that in a paper soon - send 'em running for their dictionaries.

you're so self-righteous and preachy it's nauseating. you're an essaywriter guy, face reality. you're not saving the world, curing cancer, or really doing anything that involves ethical or social responsibility.

It's interesting you would mention that. That's the word our drill sergeant told us to scream when we were practicing with bayonets in basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina (God it was hot!) in 1971. He said it "scared the hell outta the g**ks." We watched our battalion commander walk up behind him as the drill sergeant was yelling at one of us for screwing up. The sergeant yelled, "You're dancing around out there like a fresh-f****** dog," and then he saw the lieutenant colonel standing there. Now that was funny.

you're so self-righteous and preachy

What about my post is self-righteous? Displaying dismay at your description of bestiality on an essay writing site is somehow "preachy"?

johnsmom = self-righteous, preachy, anal little boy/girl. the absurd part is that you're self-righteous on a forum devoted to professional plagiarism. now be a good boy, stop being obsessed with me, and go try to convert some people to God or something.

I've asked you to explain how I'm being self-righteous. As far as I recall, I haven't made any statement about my moral standing at all. I think you're rude and obnoxious for posting stupid and disgusting stories that go nowhere, but I still don't see how disliking you makes me self-righteous.

rather than being conversational, basically everything that comes out of your mouth is self-righteous and self-aggrandizing. much worse, you seem to have developed a slight obsession with me, which is sort of freaking me out.

if you are this concerned with a narrative about a dog, let me give you a warning to avoid faulkner (necrophilia), henry miller (rape), capote/joyce carol oates (first person/sympathetic account of a murdered), gangsta rap (glorification of murder), etc, etc etc...

pretty much you should just continue to stick with harry potter and the hunger games trilogy.

Again, how?

You flatter yourself. I believe I have mentioned you once in a post that was not a direct response to you, and the only reason I'm talking to you now is because you directly addressed me.

if you are this concerned with a narrative about a dog

I'm not. I brought it up once as an indicator of the lowest level of discourse I've seen on this forum, and you keep running back to it.

I have also read many works by most of the authors you've listed (never could push myself through Miller--just not a fan) and found much of this reading quite enjoyable. I've also read Harry Potter and know what the Hunger Games is about, and if you're doling out advice on non-violent reading I would recommend avoiding these two series, as well.

The story of the OP sounds exactly like mine, including the way that conversations often flowed. I was everything from a freelance writer, academic writer, research writer, research assistant, even a writer editor for students. Eventually, I had to simply stick to one writing description because it was getting harder and harder to explain what I did for work. When anyone accused me to helping students to cheat the system, I told them, "Jealous much?" and left it at that. They knew from the way that i was living at the time that I was rolling in cash, yet I never left the house and always seemed to have time to take a day off or go on long weekend vacations. That's why I started simply telling people, "I write for students who don't have a clue but want to pass high school / college. Their parents are so supportive, they pay me any amount I ask for. Your kid is in school, want me to help him pass? I heard he/she is struggling/ failing in class." , just to rub it into the do-gooders who were really just envious of my financial success.

I never tried to define my work for anyone. It was important to me that they remain confused about the work that I was doing at the time because it gave me a sense of being "special" in any given setting and the "envy" of the others who had to punch the clock everyday and earn a pittance just the same. I was working in my pajamas, could care less about where I had my meals that day, and pretty much had all my time to myself, provided I met the student deadline anyway. So the pay was good, I was on easy street income wise, and my friends, relatives, and other acquaintances thought I was an enigma. It was just the way that I wanted to live my life at the time and I was glad that whenever I pretended to explain what I did for a living, the conversation ender was always, "where do I sign up?" on the part of the person I was talking to.

When someone asks me what I do for a living, I simply tell them that I make an honest living that pays my bills. I have never been comfortable with using my work description as a conversation starter anywhere. How I make my money and what I do for a living is none of their business. I don't owe them any money so I don't owe them an explanation regarding my job. Neither will I be borrowing money from these people so they can just mind their own business and leave me with the job that has so far proven to be pandemic proof and recession free for me.

When anyone asks me what I do for a living, I tell them that I am an academic editor. My main job is helping the students edit their already written paper. Perfecting it to get the highest possible grade for the class where they are struggling or, in the class they just want to do even better in. The people I spoke to were not really interested so much in what I did for a living because, they simply did not care. It was not something that was a focal point of any topic at the parties or gatherings I attended. They are always more interested in discussing the latest disaster that Trump has gotten himself into.

I've never been the least bit hesitant to tell people exactly what I do; and it's explained in as much detail as is possible to fit on my business card, along with my website url. They're usually either surprised that this business even exists in the first place and that it's possible to do this for a living or they're impressed that I'm able to write well in so many different academic areas. Once in a while, those kinds of conversations with strangers have actually generated work for me, either directly from that person or indirectly from a referral. Right now, I'm two chapters into a nursing dissertation for the NP who treated me a couple of years ago at an urgent care clinic.
