Being British, I probably shouldn't be saying this, but, as a nation, we can be terribly ignorant in this respect. So many people are convinced that the British versions (or bastardizations, if you want to call them that ;P) of words are as far back as the etymologies of those words stretch.

I'm a genuine academic writer and I work hard. I've never had trouble getting clients and now most of my income comes from repeat clients. I'm sure that will come to an end once they graduate, and I'll need to build up my base of regulars again. Anyway, I digress. I used to operate solely from an e-mail address and that went fine for some time, but I read a lot of bad press about writers who do that. So, I built a professional website and created a dedicated e-mail account linked to that site. I'm sure the website helps me draw more clients, and I receive numerous compliments in relation to how it looks in comparison to others. However, I'm sure there are plenty of great writers without websites or with websites that don't look so great, as well as scammers with websites that look great or otherwise. There is no real formula to be followed here, but if I were a student, I'm pretty certain that I'd trust a writer with a decent looking website over one without.

Why are so many students determined to justify their choice to use an academic writer to the actual writer? There's definitely no judgement from us. It's students who don't want to do their own work, or can't for whatever reason, who give me a living.

I totally agree. I seem to get nothing from this, and if I do then it just about covers the cost of a single bout of advertising in this way. Moreover, it's a constant battle to stay within the regulations. To do so often means having completely inappropriate wording on the ads, leading less of the right clients in my direction. Even when I state that I'm offering model papers as opposed to custom-written papers, Google ad words has an issue. I guess they know all the tricks.

I worked for essay writing companies for years before setting up my own website and going forward as a freelancer. Eventually, your bank of clients will build up and you'll no longer need to be paid pennies per page. Many clients also prefer the personal approach involved with hiring a freelance academic writer as opposed to one from a company with whom they will likely never communicate directly.

Most academic writers, myself included, are willing to assist students for free now and again, when required, with their assignments. We're already there and it takes us no time at all to help in this way.

Unfortunately, your level of written English isn't good enough for academic writing. It's very obvious just from the two lines you've written. I'd suggest an alternative way of making money.

I recently met another academic writer, which has never happened before, and he stated that he had no idea what nouns and adjectives were but that he knew how to use them. I was pretty surprised, but apparently that's more common with native English speakers than you'd think.

I charge £50 per 1000 words, so I'm not sure if that's considered as "premium" or not. However, that means that I earn £100 per day and I take 2 days off per week. I'm lucky enough not to have to pay for a mortgage or rent, so the £500 per week that I make easily covers bills, groceries, and leisure activities, allowing me to save around £1000 every month. If you're charging similar prices and doing 6000 words per day, my goodness I'd love your bank account :) Also, maybe you have more commitments than I do. I could write more in a day, but I prefer to stop when I know I've reached the end of my peak. Of course, if the topic is one that I'm familiar with, I can easily squeeze in more per day.

Wordsies does have a point. Plenty of people have used this forum before to verbally bash a particular writing service, but the truth is that often it's one of their agents. Bad press is still press. This isn't necessarily the case here, but I can see his/her point..

Are any of the free online plagiarism scanners as good as writecheck by turnitin?

As a writer whose native tongue is English and as a person who hates the standard world of work, I feel privileged to be able to do this to make a living. Of course, we can't all be fortunate enough, in these terms, to be born and bred in countries where English is the primary language. For those writers for whom this is the case, I strongly believe that, in addition to a desire/need to make money from academic writing, you must have near perfect writing skills. It is massively unfair to charge a student for work which has the potential to be marked down as the result of poor English. However, if students are willing to enter into an arrangement with an ESL writer, then that's their prerogative. many foreign students have requested that I do not write in perfect English because they do not want their marker to be suspicious, so I guess ESL writers could be ideal in such instances.

I always share either my Facebook details or my phone number for calls, texts, imessage, or whatsapp in the event that e-mails don't get through for any reason. That way, a client can always get in touch somehow.

I don't agree that clients should automatically be wary of writers using such e-mail addresses. I use one, which is attached to my website, so that I don't have to pay the extortionate inbox fees of my host.

At first, I was pretty angry with the new system, but on further investigation and after communication with the forum admin I can now see that it is worthwhile. It is true that we get to advertise here and on essaychat for free, so why shouldn't we give something back? The only thing I worry about is spending time on here contributing to forum chats when time could be spent sourcing new clients or completing work. I guess the fact that we can now also include our websites in ads can only be seen as a good thing.

I think to avoid having to complain, the best course of action is to ensure, during the initial communication stage with writers, that their level of written English is very high. Having said that, don't penalize a writer for small errors during correspondence, because, in my experience, e-mails are often written on-the-move and using a smartphone. Autocorrect can be a real pain when trying to communicate quickly.

This is a hot topic, but if students are concerned about cheating, or plagiarizing as it really is, yet they do not wish to start from scratch, a good route forward could be to commission work from an academic writer and then use this as a guide on which to base their own work. Essentially, the idea is to use work written for you as a model paper, which is a decent compromise.

Do not be concerned about using writecheck. It is designed as a service for students to check their own work for plagiarism before they submit it. It does not affect work once it is submitted through turnitin. The service is a very useful tool for ascertaining if work needs to be rewritten to bring the plagiarism rating down. Use with confidence.

The aforementioned boundaries are correct, but it should be noted that the Open University uses different boundaries, making it harder to achieve a 1st.

For students, I suppose it can take weeks to complete an assignment of say 2000 words, but for an academic writer with several years of experience, work can be completed in a relatively short space of time. I generally find that a comfortable working pace is 2000 words per day before concentration starts to go and the quality of work diminishes.

Creating a profile and sourcing work on websites like freelancer.com and upwork.com can also be fruitful, but in my experience it is very competitive and assignments can be hard to come by there. Worth looking into though.
