- re: 'free unlimited revisions' - so a writer will not get paid if he's completed 10 free revisions and refused to work on 11th free revision? I'd like to think a writer should get paid when he completed the order according to the given instructions (and provided up to, let's say, 1-3 free LIGHT revisions requested within a reasonable amount of time, let's say 2-3 days from a completion date),

- re: missed deadline penalties - so if a writer missed a deadline, but the customer didn't complain, the company would still enforce the penalty (taking the penalty's monetary value / deduction to themselves)? I'd like to think that a deduction would apply only if a customer had a problem with the missed deadline (most of them don't, especially if it was a slight delay).

Does anyone have a list of penalties / freelance writer terms (unavailable online for unregistered users)? Which are the most ridiculous / unfair ones in your opinion, and why? There have been discussions about penalties against academic freelance writers, but those were not always specific. Maybe by posting them and discussing them some essay service company owners would re-think their unscrupulous ways of doing business and start treating freelance writers more fairly.

I wonder if there are stats about the number of writing/research homework today vs. 5-10 years ago (I'm not even sure if the trend is upwards or downwards; the upwards trend may be associated with more online education programs only).

A worthwhile academic writing company (that doesn't treat their workers like disposable garb@ge) doesn't allow free revisions for more than 3 days after delivery and they surely aren't unlimited (if a writer followed the original specifications, the free revisions aren't typically reasonable ;)

It could then be risky to deliver earlier than the requested deadline because that gives a customer more time to.. complain : I agree there are too many unreasonable students who would unfairly take advantage of anything they can (and when a company tends to side with the student instead of the writer, the working relationship can be too stressful in the long term).

A semi-clever student might argue that they requested the project to be delivered on a certain date (and delivering it sooner than requested may be as unacceptable as delivering it late;)

A potential sympathetic new owner would not want to be involved in a service with so much negative baggage (so even if there is a new owner, they are not going to be altruistic :|

will not mention in order to keep from promoting their site

that pays their writers less than $2 per page

It would be anti-promoting actually (if you're a freelance writer at least ").

Essay Services / Do legit websites still exist? [35]

It's quite obvious you are not a 'Student' but a 'Paper Marketer' (cough cough) and posting self-reviews is not the best option here (it may result in a suspension).

So if they penalized two writers for the same order, they would actually make money even if they really refunded. Penalizing two writers could make them more money than completing the order without penalties; that's a good business model (for them : }

Some foreign companies try to lure unsuspecting students into getting the 'best deal' by offering them free and 'unlimited' revisions, free initial page, or a 'free draft,' but it's all worthless; a free draft is typically a copy-paste + auto-software paraphrase, that's all. Some others, as Smiley noted, may give something more usable (since it's written by a human, not a copy-paste robot), but they don't pay their freelance writers for that extra work.

Provided the student has ample time to work on his paper he will have the time to find a legitimate writing company to work on his paper. There is a misconception that a majority of the writers and companies out there are illegitimate. That is not always the case. Companies that have long standing reputations can easily be found the web using the proper search tools and contacts. The reason that students end up with companies of ill repute usually stems from their lack of time to properly consider all the possible options for their writing company or preferred writer. Wanting to just get the job done because of the pending deadline is normally what causes the student to sign up with a company that can't deliver as promised. Time pressure is always a student's enemy and it is always what usually influences them to make the wrong choice. If they can't look into the company background fully before placing an order then they should expect problems to come about with their order.

Again, I am not saying all the companies do this, just some.

The most notorious / foreign do it indeed (they create fake Wikipedia profiles with fake credentials). The same story goes with all those HuffPost 'blogs' (fake stories and links are bought by shady SEOs / essay writing company operators there).

I've been saying it for years - submitting a paper to ANY plagiarism database is a risky business for a student because such databases are / may-be shared with each other (it applies to TurnItIn especially); once a paper is submitted, it's stored and will be marked as plagiarized.

test taking for the student that the profession of being an academic writers crosses the line

Agreed.

I believe that it is the academic writing company that is the true criminal here.

Not agreed, unless you mean foreign services (typically hidden behind nice-looking / sparky websites). So many freelance writers, for some reason, are attracted to such websites and think that a very nice-looking website will not scam them. If you check websites of the best freelance writers or old writing services discussed here, they are usually pretty basic and simple (despite the fact they could afford to build sparky websites). If you were hired by those academic writing companies, your freelance experience would likely be more positive.

They penalize writers are a whim to the point where no salary is received in certain instances as well.

That's the problem - an 'inferior' writer completes an order and then he/she is penalized (because the company needs to refund or credit). Then they may complain about it in public and the viscous cycle continues. The problem are companies that hire poor writers in the first place (and then those low-level writers publicize the fact they had been fined or penalized, without telling the whole story).

Once you receive a good piece of work from a freelancer, you're probably safe continuing to use that person.

Well, it's worth noting that a student can never be sure who's been working on their order (there are freelance writers who work with / contract with other freelance writers and just because the order is sent from the main freelancer's email account doesn't always mean that the email sender authored the work).

I wonder why one essay research service would have a lot of jobs during summertime, and others would have hardly any jobs (don't they target the same students/audience)? Either way, July seems to be the slowest month overall.

Writing Careers / About writerbay.com ? [54]

The pay is low

It IS low indeed - eg. $5.45 per 300 words or $6.25 per 300 words. Is it before penalties and extra taxes?

From what I can tell, services that a domain name ends with *.writings.com aren't typically located in the UK/US. You mention two other services, but fail to discuss their prices - one of them is 2-5 times more expensive than the other (isn't the price an important factor in choosing a writing service?).

Regarding reviews, 90% of them are 100% fake/fabricated. Reading reviews of academic paper services is a complete waste of time because almost all of the positive ones have been written by fake 'users' (ie. company writers / owners). I hear that Google/Bing are finally going to do something about it and either discredit or penalize services that have an unnatural pattern of positive reviews (there's one 'custom writing' website that would post dozens of fake reviews below their BBB profile; it's going down too).

The bad, typically seasonal press will always be there. Note that if you write for a real company, they have proper Terms of Use which deny services to students who consider cheating; the problem may be with your 'private' customers (if you want to be 'covered' you must have your own Terms of Service available to them, usually included in the footer of an email if you don't have your own website).

wordsies is right - just because prices seem low or a website seems nice doesn't mean the site is legitimate (I'd argue that in many cases that's actually an indication of illegitimacy); foreign sites cannot physically move their formal business presence to a Western / English-speaking country (like the US, UK, or Australia), so their only option is to create a candy website in the hopes the potential customers don't bother checking what's behind the closed doors.

Something being 'defined' is no argument at all. There are a lot of abstract things that have a formal 'definition' but in reality it is meaningless and serve any logical purpose. On the other hand, it's a little ironic or hypocritical that you mention the honor codes of academic institutions that your customers willingly break. You don't have any Terms and Conditions for your customers on how to use your material properly in order to honor the codes of said academic institutions, do you.

Ok, from Google/Wikipedia:

The reuse of significant, identical, or nearly identical portions of one's own work without acknowledging that one is doing so or citing the original work is sometimes described as "self-plagiarism"; the term "recycling fraud" has been used.

As a student, I put MY NAME on a paper; I acknowledge I'm the author of my own work. In result, the 'self-plagiarism' idea is bogus (unless you haven't acknowledged your authorship).

If the intellectual content is the same, it's still plagiarism

It makes no sense - let's start with a definition of plagiarism, from Google:

Plagiarism - the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.
synonyms: copying, infringement of copyright, piracy, theft, stealing.

Who am I - someone else? It's hard to believe an experienced writer would fall for this logical fallacy.

It's not plagiarism if you are the author of the essay. You cannot plagiarize yourself and you can reuse your own content as much as you want. Otherwise, it wouldn't make logical sense (it's like sending the same resume to multiple employers - some of them would claim you stole the resume.. from yourself)?

DO NOT use ANY plagiarism tools - the majority of them SAVE the content and once it's submitted, the content WILL BE either reused or published without your written / explicit consent.

If you're an ESL student ibuyessay.com may work for you (the site is not based in the US/UK though; it looks like a foreign / Eastern European affiliate). Related to Papercoach. Where/how did you find out about them? If you didn't find any information on them using the search here, it's unlikely to be a known and/or a reputable service. Checking their phone number, they have hacked or spammed hundreds of websites unrelated to essay writing. It looks the site is just a placeholder for hundreds of other sites and it definitely is not a brand.

I remember some writer posting they can do 20-30 pages per day? And the important part is how many words one page should contain (225 vs 300+).
Major
May 19, 2017

An educated native English speaker is going to charge at least $25-$30 per page (300 words). You may be able to find a cheaper one on EssayChat (most of them have a freelance writer profile here too: essayscam.org/freelance-writers/).

The site's phone number - 1-512-539-0270 - is associated with several 'different' services (in fact these are the same), including: academicessaywriting.net, mybestpaper.net, bestpaperservices.com, myessaywriters.net.DND, precisepaper.com, writebestessays.com.DND, crediblewriters.com, essayexcellence.net, do-myhomework.com, focuspointwriters.com, essaywritingnow.com, myfinepaper.com, bestqualitywriters.com. All related to Kenya -- it doesn't mean they are bad or they will scam you, but in reality, why would someone create dozens of similar websites? If there was enough quality and trust, one website would be enough to build a good reputation and long-term relationships with their customers.

Well, dog eats dog :| If he/she was really scammed, she 'revenged' by scamming another person. But I still don't understand why a freelance writer would want to complete the whole paper AND send it before getting paid. You should've told him/her that the paper was ready and it would be sent once the payment is completed (it didn't have to be the whole amount paid, but at least 50% or so).

Btw - your remark about her being a 'victim' may suggest you like working with the naive, too ;)

It's an email (Yahoo) IP; it's not very helpful. The only sure thing is that the scammer communicated from the UK. The next best thing would be to use the Paypal's information/email (hm - but this 'student' has actually never paid you? - you completed the work without advance payment)? If so -- it was not very smart decision on your part...

It's going to take a day or two before it shows up (but when an essay is checked in real time by a professor, it should show up quicker than that). Regarding the con, I doubt 'Rachel Smith' is the fraudster real name; they use common / meaningless names like 'Smith' to commit online crimes. I'm not even sure if Paypal checks the payer's name. The closest you can go to focus on an IP address and possible other information sent by email.

The sooner you post the paper, the more chances you have to achieve *something*. If you wait, he/she will use it/submit it and you are left with nothing. If you post it, it would be indexed in Google / Bing / TurnItIn and he/she would not risk getting caught.
