Thanks for the introduction. Yes I am new here, but I'm afraid the agression sort of rubbed off on me. For that I apologise. I am new to freelance writing but I am not new to writing. I am a technical writer working for a large engineering company. I decided that it was about time I try to write for myself rather than an employer so started looking on the net. I found the essay writing companies and applied to one before I realised what it was they did. As far as I am concerned it is seemed a scam. The companies were being paid by students to get essays done by freelancers. I decided it was not for me. I then found this forum and started having a look around on the various threads. I noticed that people were always complaining that they had been ripped off by the essay companies. I wondered why people were actually writing for them when the companies were ripping them off. I made a comment on a post and immediately got my head bitten off by WritersBeware. The rest is history.

I just want a place where I can learn the pitfalls of freelancing, find a reputable web company and meet some friends with similar interests. Instead, I get pulled apart, told I was crap, humilated etc etc. And by the way if anyone is going to tell me my sentence construction and grammar stinks on this post, well personally I don't care. If no one can be decent here, then I will go somewhere else.

2) This site is NOT impartial or trustworthy. Its moderation is an utter joke. Reasonable posters get their posts removed or get 'banned' (no problem as anyone can use another username). Why? Because WritersBeware AND the Polish owners of this site are friends in New Jersey.

Had you taken the time to read through some of the posts here, you would have discovered that there are two types of companies in this industry:

1) Legitimate: In the minority, this group of companies are completely opposed to customers submitting the research as their own. They are very explicit about this. They intend their work to be used as a model upon which the customer may base his/her own study. Why would customers order from these companies, despite their non-submission policy? The customer uses the sources employed in the model research, thereby saving him/her the time and effort which goes into the collection and annotation of references; the customer receives access to a non-plagiarised model study which directly and specifically addresses his/her topic, thereby clarifying the issues to be investigated and giving the student a detailed research outline to follow, etc. These companies have very strict recruitment policies and only hire academically and linguistically qualified writers. They scam neither customers nor writers.

2) Illegitimate: The majority. They do not give a fig about customers' submitting the work as their own; they hire every Tom, Dick and Harry they come across, irrespective of any and all qualifications; they lie about their writers' qualifications; they are dishonest with both customers and writers.

Right lets get some facts straight here please. I was highlighting that those people who had been ripped off by essay writing companies were ripped off because the companies were fraudulent. I then stated that those people who were writing for these fraudulent essay writing companies were assisting fraud to take place. It was therefore their own fault.

I still maintain that students buy these essays so they can hand them in as their own. I just joined essaywriters back in Jan 2010. While I haven't had issues with payment, I have issue with their practices and how they penalize and fine writers for order problems.

I found an order that I may have been able to do, but the compensation amount was listed at $0. The client was requesting essaywriters to pay from credits she had received for previous orders. I did not accept the order, but requested the compensation to be increased so that perhaps the client would get serviced. I don't know of any writer that would accept a $0 compensation order.

The client did not respond for 4 hours to the compensation request, by which it was the middle of the night (2:00 am). Because, I did not hear back immediately, I could not work the order and I did not accept the order into my queue.

Once the compensation request was a approved. Apparently, another writer requested a time extension on the order.

The next day I received a call asking if I could take the order. I said that no, because of other obligations I would not be able to complete the order in the client's time frame (approximately 2 hours from my phone call).

This evening when I checked essaywriters. I was informed via message that I received a $15 fine for missing the client deadline on this order that I never accepted and that I never requested an extension on.

Needless to say, on this site, apparently they can fine you for orders that you don't accept into your queue, merely by someone in their support office "assigning the order" to you without even asking you.

I have asked that they remove this fine since I never accepted the order in the first place and because it was the other writer who accepted the extension. I doubt they will reverse the fine and as of now I will not be writing for them.

Victimized writers constantly complain about this well-known scam. It's a swell racket, isn't it? Even if EssayWriters.net ends up having to refund the customer in-full, the Ukrainian owner of EssayWriters.net still gets to keep 100% of the fine amount that he illegally levied against your existing balance for a "late" order that you never agreed to take in the first place. Imagine how much money these Ukrainian fraudsters make, during the course of an entire year, by employing that disgusting and blatantly illegal fine strategy against hundreds of writers.
