i believe that writing websites are on their way out of this business. The writing companies were far too affected by the sudden school shutdown and pandemic to actually stay in business. The educational world has changed so suddenly that the academic writers were caught unprepared. It is not easy to try and stay afloat in an industry that has effectively been shut down by the blended learning process. Home schooling is the bane of an academic writer's existence and right now, that is what the writers have to contend with. Working for an academic writing company isn't the way to go these days. Work for yourself as a freelancer and more importantly, steer yourself into another writing venue because academic writing will need a tremendous amount of recovery time before the writers can start moving within the academic writing field again.

Writing Careers / Kenyan Writers - stop hiring them? [162]

While a writer can do his best to dumb down his written presentation at the request of the client, the intelligence of the writer will still somehow manage to shine through. A writer limiting his writing abilities will still forget to keep it simple and ESL like because that is not his natural way of writing. I know that when I or my writers are asked to write like someone else, it requires a lot of checking on the part of the QAD of my company. Mostly because they have to send the paper back to have the writer correct the "intelligent" parts to keep with the theme of the paper. It is not easy to pretend to be someone you are not, even if only in written form.

@Smiley73 you are correct. The format presentation and spelling makes all the difference in the final outcome of the paper. However, that is all that a writer needs to focus on as a part of the quality assurance of the paper. The method of thinking and expressing yourself in writing does not need to change. English is an international language that requires very little chances from American to British versions. It is the same language, spelled differently sometimes. So hiring an American English writer should not be too much of a problem. As long as the client specifies UK English, the writer will know what is expected of him and deliver it as required.

These evil companies are now reaping the rewards of the way they treated their writers in the past. Their companies are now struggling to stay afloat as the academic writing companies lose their relevance in the post C19 age. They have lost their writers, who have gone on to other employment venues since the academic writing pool quickly dried up for the writers who are not really talented at their job. So the companies cannot fool the writers anymore. They can only hope to still have a writers pool when this is all over.

Essay Services / My Custompapers.com experience [18]

The only solution in this case would be for everyone to agree to disagree. Like I always say, the experience of every student will vary, even if they use the same writing company. It is all about client satisfaction and work accuracy. Each student has a different criteria when it comes to judging those two factors. What was a pleasant experience for one may be unpleasant for another. It all depends upon the circumstances of the situation. Both arguments are valid, both arguments may be true. It all boils down to the personal experience, nothing more, nothing less.

Right now, there are writers who are not making any cash at all. The school shutdown and revised class attendance has made it more difficult for students to get access to the writers for hire. That is because some parents have decided that since the kid studies from home, he doesn't need an allowance. No allowance means no money to hire writing services. That translates to a lost market for the academic writers. Those writers have now been forced to learn a new trade in terms of writing and/or actually doing a job other than writing from home because of the lack of an actual academic writing market. The economic outlook for academic writers and writing companies tend to be a bit gloomy these days but I am not losing hope that there will also be a sense of new normal for our line of work, where everyone can once again earn from the academic writing needs of the students.

Writing gigs were more difficult to come by during the time that this post was written because of the proliferation of writing companies and independent writers. It got easier later on but, the minute the pandemic hit, the gig industry was one of the hardest hit. For academic writers, the effect was almost instant as students cancelled orders upon school shut-downs. Back to school schedules were upended and students no longer know if it will be possible for them to actually hire writers this semester since they are part of the blended learning process and the parents are more than likely hovering over them as they themselves WFH, leading students to actually do their own research and writing at the same table where their parents are working.

i'm a little worried that turning her in might also get her group members in trouble,

Since her groupmates would have been able to easily prove that they did their own work (assuming they did), then I would not have worried about reporting a student for dishonesty to the professor. Sometimes, blowing the student's cover is the only recourse a writer is left with. Specially when it is proven that the student conned the professor. You should have done it as soon as possible, possibly on the presentation date itself. Not that the professor would have taken your complaint or report seriously but, it would have at least planted the seed of suspicion in the professor, which may have helped you get even somehow with the student.

Using a blog type of social media site is one way of recruiting new clients. Focus on writing tips and adding links that encourage students to inquire about your services always helps. Cross promoting said blog within Instagram or FB does have benefits, provided you pay for advertising so that your links comes out at the top of the pile also helps. Wordpress doesn't offer as much promotional opportunity as Blogspot does but it will do in a pinch. Just remember to deliver information in bits and pieces. No long teaching blogs. Keep it animated, use a meme, whatever you do, just keep it fun and interesting so encourage the client to reach out to you.

When I first arrived at this website, I thought that it was a place where students came to snitch on other writing companies. I was ready to start snitching alongside them when I realized that this forum was meant for more than just tattling on other companies. It is here to help students protect themselves from themselves. The people who post here act as academic counselors who help guide the students towards the proper decision when it comes to their paper writing. Either they hire a reputable company or writer, and learn how to do so based on student-writer interactions at the forum, or, they take a chance and hire a questionable company based on cost. Either way, the students get an important service out of this website. How they use is what establishes the point of this website's existence.

These affiliate programs have died a natural death. The companies were not able to keep up with their empty promises so the students and writers eventually stopped referring their services. The students were having problems getting their discounts on the papers they ordered. The writers were not able to get the promised stipends for successfully referring the students to the service. They were supposed to get at least a 10 percent bonus from the company each salary schedule for every successful referral. It never happened so the writers stopped expecting the referral bonus as an affiliate. They eventually left the company because of it.

I have heard of some companies that tried to report the students. The universities forwarded the complaints to the professors, who then looked into the reports. Nothing came of it though as the professors would often see that the report came from a suspicious foreign IP and would disregard the report. Mostly because the student was doing well in class overall so any accusations were hard to believe. Usually, the student was just given a chance to rework the paper, usually under the direct supervision of a TA or the professor himself and all was forgiven. Do it another time and get caught, well, then, that is another story.

Uvocorp is still peddling their lies to the professional academic writers. Their company blurbs make them seem like the perfect company to work with if you are just starting out in the business. They make it appear that they are the writer's friend and that they are the only ones who treat their writers fairly. We all know nothing can be further from the truth. This is one company that cannot be trusted to tell a lie without telling a foundation lie first. Never deal with them. They are not good for anything. Not even for early writer experience. Academic writers who start out with them often end up leaving the business altogether because of the nightmare they experienced at the hands of the Uvocorp bosses.

when it comes to real quality it takes much more than that to be a successful freelance writer.

That is true. However, I have found that my writers who have potential, who started with my company writing only personal statements and application essays have a thirst to advance in their careers. When I sign them up for writer training and seminars, they begin to show improvements and, after including more language classes for them to better their use of the English language, they begin to slowly progress beyond the personal statement essays. It may take them time and they have missteps along the way but, they eventually get a grasp of how proper English papers are written. Sure I end up with only 2 out of 5 trainees advancing to this degree but it gives me happiness to see them going beyond the expectations of other people.

I would be very careful about what private documents I submit to any company for my job application. I ask my writer applicants for the most minimal documentation and rely mostly on their research and essay writing tests for their screening. If the writer is not an ENL, I require TOEFL or IELTS certifications as a part of their screening process. I do not ask for transcripts or anything like that lest I be accused of identity theft or anything similar. Any company that requires too much information from the applicant might be in the market for something else. It is important to safeguard both the applicant and the regular writer information. They both deserve data privacy protection.

If I saw a website called unemployed anything, I would not even consider the service. A professor who is not employed is most definitely not a professor. A tenured professor may work on student papers on the side (Yes, they do that most of the time, more so now that Covid has messed up the learning system), but they would do so under the cover of an academic writing company. They would never set up a company of their own, unemployed or not because of the risk to their possibility of being hired again. What if word got out that they assisted students in writing their paper? Exactly. They would be in a heap of trouble and in a bigger mess than the students they helped.

@Smiley73 It turns into a scam when the writer refuses to pass the order back into the system so that a more capable writer can deal with it. It is a scam when the writers pass around the order and the company cannot find someone to assign it to. It is a scam when the company refuses to refund the client because the deadline passed and no paper was submitted or, the deadline passed and a worthless paper was submitted to the client. A scam is a scam. Don't try to differentiate it. The writers simply run a different level of a scam. They hope to get paid for a worthless paper that they developed, knowing the company will hold on to the money paid anyway.

These commas and apostrophe's are the most often edited mistakes of my writers. The most recent headache we have been dealing with is the use of dual punctuation marks. These are use simultaneously and simply do not make any sense. When we correct it, the ESL kid does it again, thinking the writer made the mistake. This is most often seen when the student writes a sentence then uses an ellipses, followed by a comma or vice versa. It is impossible to teach the ESL learner that you can only use one punctuation mark as a time when it comes to the end of a sentence. They are simply incapable of learning the reasons why you can only use one punctuation mark. They cannot understand the reason and the difference.

Essay Services / myassignmenthelp.com [DND*] fraud [18]

I guess the OP came across ES way too late to prevent his entry into the scam company. Too bad. Had he come across our site sooner, and seen the DND list at the right time, he could have hired either a truly reliable company or trustworthy independent writer based on the vetting system of ES. I guess it is true that lessons are often hard learned and oftentimes, are costly to learn. In this case, the student did not receive our warning soon enough. That, is really a shame.

Well, neither of these predictions have actually come true. The ESL writers have not taken over the industry and the independent writers have not managed to run them out of business either. Both still exist in their own gray areas. Both still pose a puzzlement to students who wish to hire their services, and both are still complained about by students at varying degrees. The only thing that has happened, and nobody predicted this, is that Covid-19 has redefined how the academic writing companies and writers do business and farm for clients. Blended learning is a bane to a hard working academic writer's business.

Boomessays.com is just as secretive as pro-papers.com. No doubt the two companies are related. Possibly under the same umbrella company covering its tracks. That is why they decided to unleash a shill within this thread. To redirect the attention of the student and hopefully, still get his business. The poor student would have entered into a deal with the same bad company and not even know it. Beware of shills. They proliferate in this forum, promoting the same business / company under the other company names.

If the OP and the one who started a new company were truly friends, then there would not be any competition. They would most likely end up networking and exchanging clients in the process. The OP was just nervous because of his small client base. He probably did not understand the rudiments of networking because of his lack of experience using it. It appears that @Smiley73 was the same way since he thought poaching was the name of the game. Poaching to him is just networking to most. If the client prefers the referred company later on, then the original writer should learn to step up his game. It's all about quality for money, not just cheap services and "okay" papers.

It has become common practice for professors in specific subjects to quiz the students on the papers they submit. This is usually the case with a thesis or dissertation defense. The professors figure out if the student wrote the paper or not based on the way they act during the procedure. Viva Voce isn't the only time the student needs to be able to defend and explain his research process. Since the professors have become wise to the writing services. They often employ an oral report or question and answer when a formerly bad student suddenly starts performing well in reports and essay presentations. Yes, it becomes suspicious when the student improves overnight.

It is not advisable to use an ESL writer when it comes to proofreading English essays. The way an ESL writer thinks and writes in English is very different from the way an ENL writer goes about developing his paper. What will pass as correct with an ESL may fail to pass with an ENL. If you want to get an ENL grade for your paper, go with the safer choice. Use an ENL to proof read your paper. In the process, you may even end up improving your own ESL writing skills.

I really think that the paid hacks of the scam sites are getting creative in finding ways to get around the no promotions allowed rule of ES. By posing as students, they get to mention all the sites they work for and avoid getting their account suspended. All of the sites mentioned are well known third world, just give us your money so nobody gets hurt sites. If any student even checks into those url's their computer is sure to get infected with something. No sites, use independent writers instead. That would be a better and more financially responsible idea.

@Smiley73

Good advice. The problem with the academic writing industry is that one can never tell if a company is a scam or not. At least, not until the time to pay the salaries comes around. These underhanded people will say anything and do anything to fill the writer slots, over work the writers, then figure out how to not pay them. Which is why, if you have a small client base as an independent writer, you should just work on figuring out how to grow your client base. If it is money you need, then do not work for the company if you cannot be sure of its reputation. Just promote your own business as much as you can so you can grow your finances from there.

Once again, this thread has a missing ending. Why do these people always post messages, expect some response, then leave the rest of us hanging about what happened next? The way this particular thread ran has led me to believe that neither of the people posing as journalists were actually what they claimed to be. Instead, they were here fishing for information about other writing companies, in the guise of "reporting". They were on the lookout for disgruntled writers who would have spilled the beans on their competition. Perhaps they were hoping to use such information to create negative reviews of the competitor so that they can create believable counter reviews online.

I often charge upwards of $50 per page for scholarship essays since those need to be revised a few times until the paper actually seems perfect enough for a reviewer to consider. The students who apply for scholarships often have no idea what to write or, totally disregard the writing instructions, which makes revising their work, or using their original work as the source of a more perfected version of their application essay more difficult to complete.

The lowest price I ever charged was $20 for a single page review of a cover letter. It was half a page long and didn't really need a review but my client just wanted to be sure he covered all the bases as instructed by the scholarship he was applying for.

@Smiley73, there is a problem with horizon charging. The client could change the deadline on you at any given time and ruin your horizon pricing. I have had experiences with clients who give me a long deadline to get a cheaper price, only to change the deadline on me the next day, still demanding the horizon price. I do not think horizon pricing is the right way to price a paper. Always assume the client will change the deadline on you and charge the most premium that you can to ensure that any sudden changes will be worth your effort and also, prevent you from having to haggle a new price with the student, who will most likely not budge on the horizon price that you gave.

These prices may have been true up until January this year. The minute Covid-19 shut down the schools, the charging system changed. The ability of the students to pay premium prices became hindered by their stay at home educational status. Writers worldwide, regardless of their English writing skills, have found themselves needing to adjust downward (by a bit) to ensure that they can get the order as placed by the client. It is difficult to get a client to sign up these days. There are a lot of inquiries, but these rarely translate into actual orders most of the time. At least, that is what I have experienced lately, which forced me to spin my writers off into another field of writing. One that pays more and isn't affected by the blended learning situation.

The problem is that Google cannot keep up with these hackers. Just as Google figures out what to do with their hijacking, they've already moved on to a more complicated version that Google will need to figure out all over again. It is just a never ending cycle of crime and (too late) the punishment. They will always get around Google's safeguards because the experts at Google do not think in advance like these hackers do.

Has anybody read the TOS of this company? They automatically included a disclaimer on "delayed" salary payments. First, the writer has to request for his salary twice a month. Why? Don't they keep track of the orders? Don't they have an accounting department? Second, they automatically blame the 3rd party company they use for paying for any "delays" in payment. So, they decide not to pay the writers and it is someone else's fault? I do not see what a billing statement will do for the writer when the company can manufacture the content of the statement. The whole TOS sounds like a con and anybody who signs up, you know what comes next.

These companies need to be punished for what they are doing somehow. I find it hard to believe that these criminals can get away with the way they treated this student. My only hope is that the student survived the nightmare scenario the company created and that he eventually graduated. Sure hindsight is 20/20. However, all of the collective experiences of the students here should serve as an early warning to the others. Somehow that has yet to happen. The students still need to be saved from themselves, when it comes to choosing a writing company, almost all the time.

An on the level writing company will never be accused of being a scam company because, (1) the writers are paid fairly and all penalties are discussed, with the writer being given ample time to correct the errors found by QAD and (2), the clients manage to receive proper and satisfactory before and after sales services from the company. The problem, is that not all of these fair policy companies get in the limelight. So the scamming writing services are more popular. Clients usually approach writing companies already apprehensive because of the nightmare stories that proliferate about these scam sites. They tend to see all the sites as scams until proven otherwise.

Nowadays, they prefer to use social media to source the writing company. That means, they now base their choices on the number of likes, dislikes, and hearts. It is really silly if you ask me. They do not trust reviews but, they trust those emiticons totally. They just went from one form of fake reviews to another, and they never realized that they did. Silly kids !

If a student wrote the paper himself, then there is no need for him to submit the paper to a plagiarism checker. That would be really stupid since he would be accusing himself for plagiarism and bother himself with needless revisions based on the inaccurate reading of the plagiarism checker. The best way to avoid plagiarism when you wrote the paper yourself? Do not check it at all. What if you hired a writer? Ask if the company has an in-house plagiarism tool. Some of the companies have this and these do not store you essay on their server. It is pretty much reliable in terms of checking for plagiarism. Submit the essay to the software checkers only if your professor recommends it. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble.

Before the pandemic threw a wrench into the independent writing industry, the students coming to me preferred the safety of the company writer but, they wanted to have a direct communication line with the writer. So all I had to do was accommodate their requests. A PM system within the company server, not manned by a middle man was the key to my company being able to keep the client base that wanted direct writer access. However, I had writers who had some direct clients coming to them from other sources and it was the writer who asked if my company could assist in their direct hiring needs. I was more than happy to oblige the request. I just had a service fee that the writer had to work into his final costing for the page. It appears to me that, based on these 2 highly different writing hiring experiences, the students don't really have a clear preference when it comes to hiring the writer. All they want is the communication line to be open and regular. That isn't asking for much.

@writers2beware Did you eventually sue @Smiley73? When you make a threat like that, I expect to read a follow up that says you actually threw the legal books at the offender. After all, the retraction you demanded was never delivered. It seems your threat of a lawsuit was ignored. So you got egg on your face instead?

If you were not libeled, why did you react so violently? No specific names or profiles were mentioned in that post. LR did not even react and their company was the one directly discussed by the poster. So, what gives? Why did you fail to follow through? Was there an out of court settlement for something the poster never did ? Or did you get sued instead?

I do not understand where all of the hostility towards this poster comes from. He seems to only want to help but specific people here seem to just want to bully the user. I also do not understand why the people behind this forum allow bullying to exist here. It isn't just @Smiley73 that gets bullied regularly here. What pleasure do you get out of it? How do you expect your actions, such as bullying to actually help your business? Sometimes the actions of the senior members at this forum just don't make any sense.
