The company I work with has always honored my requests for additional money for more difficult assignments. All you have to do is ask and justify. That's a lot better than doing the assignment and resenting it.

This is true and I stand corrected. I have in fact been "penalized" in the past in the case of the rare refund (I can count the number of refunds in 15 years on one hand), but a refund of a fee is not necessarily a penalty. A penalty would go above and beyond a mere refund, at least in my view, and I don't believe it is right for any company to penalize their associates for good faith efforts. Good help is hard to find.
