I agree that Upwork does not care about the quality of service delivered by their freelancer affiliates. Their focus is only on the collection of the commission and nothing more. Since they collect on both ends, one would think that they would want to help deliver the best service to the client so they can have repeat business. Unfortunately, a company this big can afford to ignore client complaints because they know that for every single client they lose, they will gain at least 10 more new clients along the way. Their money source is not going to dry up anytime soon.

Writing companies still have a quick turn around time for the orders that are placed as priority orders. Since this did not appear to be a priority order, the company was not in a rush to assign a writer to it. A rush order would normally have the company calling their available writers to see who would be available to work on the order immediately. Without such instructions, the OP should not have been so anxious about getting a writer assigned to his paper. I am sure a writer eventually picked up his order from the system and worked on it. It was most likely an acceptable paper since the thread did not continue with the OP posting complaints about the quality of work he was provided with.

This website is not proudly announcing that it is powered by AI, which was trained by experts. Please, do not be fooled by such claims. All they did was train their AI based on their already existing documents and prompts, which were not of a high quality to begin with. Save your money. You can do better by actually reading the book and using your own words to write your reviews, opinion papers, or whatever it is that you need. Paying for AI use at this company is not worth it. Save your money.

I disagree. TrustPilot used to be a reliable review service but not anymore. They finally sold themselves out as a paid review website and give stellar ratings and reviews to companies that pay a fee, discreetly of course, for their 5 star reviews. There was a time when TrustPilot could not be bought and the negative reviews stayed put. Not anymore. They decided money mattered more than their reputation as a guardian of reliable services.

While I will agree that there are still some questionable writing companies trying to stay afloat these days, I will have to disagree with the idea that all writers are illegitimate. On the contrary, if you want to hire a reliable service provider whose background as a professional can be verified, then you should go and hire an independent writer in place of a company or even AI. The right human writer will always be worth the money. Their quality of work is always commensurate to the fees being paid to them.

Well, it appears that the company is still managing to fool students into using their tutoring services, even though the students cannot be sure that they are dealing with an actual teacher who is an expert in the field that they are asking for help in. The company is too shady in my opinion. Even the testimonies regarding how helpful their tutors are sound like they were written by a 5th grader. So I am not really recommending that students use this website when it comes to their academic assistance needs.

The job is too easy. The money offered as compensation is unbelievable. When a job does not even as you to do an interview or provide a simple resume, you can expect that it is a scam. It is not authentic and there will be no monetary gain at the end. It is a scam run on unsuspecting people to steal their money while pretending to be helpful. Stay away from such easy job offerings for your own good.

This phenomenon is not limited to college level students. I have seen the same problem emerging among high school and grade school students as well. They are simply becoming too lazy to bother with homework. Why bother when they can enter a few prompts into a program and let AI do the work for them? We are no longer developing generations of professionals and leaders. We are developing a lazy generation of people who will rely on AI to even decide what they should eat at a given meal time. I say we ban AI generated papers of any degree and punish the student who used it to teach them a lesson. Maybe give them an automatic failing mark for the year and forcing them to attend summer school, where they will have to do research the old fashioned way. By hand, at the school library, under the supervision of their teachers and professors. That way they actually learn something by attending school.

WPS is another free document program that allows for conversion from .docx to .pdf. It is based on the Microsoft Office code so the conversion is seamless and works in most .pdf reader apps. Adobe also has a free converter on their website that you can use without worry for the conversion. I haven't heard of plagiarism cases stemming from file conversions. I think that is not something that can happen. There is no sense in overthinking it.

While the active academic writers seem to have gone radio silent since the advent of AI, I believe that their contact information is still active via their personal profile pages. Nothing is stopping the students who lurk at this forum, from contacting the said writers or, the writer of your choice and inquiring as to whether they would want to work with you or not. It would be their honor to help you out specially since you opted to go with a human writer instead of using AI to complete your work. Majority of the writers listed at this forum are on the level and will deliver papers as expected or negotiated.

In addition to these 4 business models, some academic writing companies have added Bitcoin as a payment method for their potential clients. This has created even more complications for the companies and students themselves. Bitcoin is untraceable and therefore, difficult to refund should there be a problem with the final version of the order later on. I have not heard of any problems with writers and the companies that use Bitcoin though, which I then take to be a positive sign for the students who engage writing companies and independent writers that use that payment system.

Well, I do believe that this website is fast losing clients to AI which can write the simple code that is needed in a matter of seconds, or a far more complex and advanced code within a matter of minutes. There is no sense in students hiring this scam company to work on their coding assignments when AI can deliver the help that they need, without the stress and headache that hiring an ESL scam coder would entail. There are some subjects where AI can truly be of help to a student and Coding, is one of those subjects. It is easier to find the coding mistakes when you have an AI assistant looking out for you.

One can also consider creating a reel out of the paper and posting it on TikTok. By posting it on TikTok, the paper will gain viewers, keeping it in mind for them for future use, and also keep it on rotation in searches far better than any static posting would. Not only will it keep the paper in the public sphere, but it could also make the original writer go viral and earn a bit from the posting as well.

It is important that students understand the importance of the academic integrity oath that they signed upon admission to the university. This is an oath that binds the student to academic honesty at all times. You pass or fail in your class based upon how well you performed or under performed during the term. As such, hiring someone to take your tests for you, when you probably did not perform well in class during the term, will cause a red flag on your exam results. Such an act is a direct cause for expulsion once caught, which in all likelihood the student will be. Take the exam yourself and suffer the consequences. It is better to fail and repeat a class than to be expelled from the college or university. The end result of that will be non admission to any school in the future.

I do not believe that it is advisable to sell your old essays anymore these days. Due to the fast paced way that technology affects the way that information is shared on the internet, and the fact that AI can mine for information in a matter of seconds, selling previous essays does not have a market anymore. It cannot even be sold as a sample paper anymore since AI will generate a sample paper for a student in a matter of seconds. However, the student should not submit that generated paper for a grade, the same rules as human model paper writing still applies. GradeSaver is actually trying to revise its business model by shying away from old essay says to real time responses to posted queries. How successful this company will be in that market is yet to be seen.

General Talk / Is poor essay quality a SCAM? [17]

Some people would argue that a scam would only apply to the non delivery of a paper that was ordered. Others, would say that a scam would relate to the undelivered promise of quality within the final paper. In my opinion, both would qualify as a scam on the part of the writing company. Add to that any other payment demands that they might make upon the student prior to or after the delivery of the paper and the student will definitely have been scammed by the company. Anything that results in the student being hurt by the final paper that was delivered to him in any way or form should be considered a scam.

Independent writers are considered freelancers by the nature of their profession. They do not have a single employment contract with a writing company. Hence, they work for the websites. The term "websites" is actually incorrect in this case because they work for the companies that own the websites. The website itself is not an employer. It is only a funnel used to find and hire writers for the company.

Essay Services / Essay outsourcing - yes or no? [17]

During our academic writing heyday, I would say that about 90% of the academic writing companies were outsourcing their papers to writers in the 3rd world or non native speakers. The reason that the companies continued to exist was that they were paying slave labor wages to their writers. Native speaking and educated English writers would not work for the wages that continue to be paid as of this day to third world writers. Essay outsourcing is the norm in most cases, rather than the exception.

Poor essay writing quality done by a human being is considered a scam. Yet, when the students use a badly written AI paper to complete a subject paper requirement, he doesn't consider himself scammed. Why is that? I mean, poor academic writing is a scam, regardless of whether it was written by a human or AI. Bad writing is bad writing, period. Students will get what they paid for when they hire a human writer, whose work quality they can actually choose before hiring.

This is not an available option when you use AI to write your paper. So tell me, what are the new era qualifiers before we can say that poor essay writing quality is a scam? Is there a demarcation between bad human and bad AI writing? If so, what do you think these are?

Writing Careers / Essay Writing Scam Jobs [NEW]

I need to warn the users of this forum who hope to start their career as an academic writer in the age of AI. There are supposed writing companies looking for academic writers on FB. The scam is always the same. They do not ask for credentials, the no conduct an interview, they just hire you for a practice order right off the bat. The unsuspecting writer then works on the paper for a few days, then submits the paper. He is then asked to go to Telegram, open an account, then talk to a person there about receiving his pay for the practice test because he passed the assessment.

That is where the scam comes in. He is asked to open an account at a bank he was directed to. Then told by the bank that the money has been received but cannot be released because the account holder has to make a deposit from a personal account to release the hold on the money. The deposit from the personal account is refundable. These are the red flags of a scam. I know of a few unsuspecting people who were caught in this trap already. They submitted their personal information to the "bank" so I hope that does not come back to bite them in the future.

Please, be aware of the new scams emerging in our industry. Let us protect ourselves.

Sometimes it only takes 3 useless sentences written in what the OP thought was real, academic English, for the potential clients to know to stay away from the person. Intellect is seen in sentence development. In this case, that was sorely missing in the post of the OP. So yea, I do not believe writing career of this person ever took off.

Writing will forever remain. The form of writing is what is constantly changing at this point. Unfortunately, the way that AI affects writing for students and professionals also affects their individual ability to analyze and think for themselves. Taking the AI word for granted when it should only be used as a writing aid and tool, it should not have the author role itself.

Why should it matter whether or not any particular ESL writer has poor grammar and punctuation

Of course these matter! How do you expect the person who paid you for the job to understand what you wrote if you cannot write logically, use the correct punctuation marks, and piece together a coherent sentence, moreso a paragraph? The student is paying for a model paper that will make his job easier by properly providing information, personal opinions, and other required data. These should be delivered in a useful manner. That manner involves proper grammar and punctuation usage on the part of the hired writer.

The scam riddled writing websites seem to have gone offline already. That is how it appears at the moment since a search for academic writing websites returns far fewer results now than it did before. That is why I am assuming that the fly by night / hit and run companies have folded up and left the writing field. The honest writers and writing sites are still there, hoping to survive the onslaught of AI writing dependence. They still do an honest job for students that trust them. Most of those writers and firms actually still advertise and engage with participants at this forum. Information for students who are looking for reliable and trustworthy sites for their current writing needs.

It seems to me that mouths for hire have lost their jobs in an academic writing world where AI and bots are fast taking over the jobs that they used to do. Prompting arguments and using bots to spread misinformation are the latest trend in the battle for the student's hard earned money. In the end, it was not their insincerity that got rid of them, but technology that could do the job better than they could that brought about their demise.

Essay Services / Legit Custom Writing Site [25]

I cannot recommend the remaining active writing sites that can be found through Google search or Ai recommendations. These results can be manipulated through paid services so that students are directed to what look like legitimate writing companies, that turn out to be frauds. It would be best for students who are looking for legitimate and trustworthy writing companies to turn to the companies that still advertise at this forum. The ones on Google often turn out to be money grabs at this point.

Students tend to choose a writer early on in the semester and stick to that writer for a particular class. Some of them who require specialized writing could hire 3 or more writers, depending upon the writing and research to be done for specific classes. This is something that actually helps a student, but AI cannot deliver. While AI is a writing assistant, it lacks the passion for writing that human writers deliver consistently. AI writing tends to be empty and repetitive in content. That is why those who still hire human writers stick to either the same company or, the same writer for as long as they can. It is more about writing style continuity more than anything else.

These rewritten essay databases are no longer applicable in the context of today's research world. Not only is the information outdated, it is also unusable since these can easily be detected by turnitin. Students these days prompt AI to generate a sample paper instead. From there, some make the mistake of using the paper itself, cut and paste, then asking someone to edit the content for originality. While some, use the sources provided and write their own paper. Is the AI generated paper plagiarized? It might be. Only a plagiarism check can confirm or deny that. Is it an original paper when the student rewrites everything the AI generated? Yes. It becomes an original paper because it contains the wordings and perspective of the student at that point, even if he uses AI generated sources.

Client poaching is still an issue that the leftover writing companies have to deal with. Students are aware that the cost of the paper that they order is high because of the middleman percentage tacked onto the final price. So the creative ways of reaching out to the writer still remains and these days, the writers tend to put personal interest over the business relationship. They contact the client directly and poach the student, who is happy to pay a lower but fair rate to the writer whenever required.

Writing Careers / Hallo I am a new writer and scared [39]

Well, there are still some people who are good at writing that try their luck as an academic writer. Although the field has dwindling clients, that is not to say that the hopeful newbies should not try their luck. It is when everyone in the academic writing field gives up on client sourcing that we will have to admit that the employment opportunities in that sector are now dead. As of now, there are still students who prefer human writers and they can be found mostly via FB instead of through writing websites. I would never discourage writers from trying their luck in this field. We need to keep the field alive for those that prefer human writers due to the substance that we produce in the written work.

Even when one prompts and generates an "original" AI model paper, the person who will use the paper still has to humanize the writing to ensure that it does not have any misinformation in it. The information should also be accurate and valid for the purpose it is meant to be used. Whenever possible, the student should actually paraphrase the AI paper so that the presentation is surely double checked and contains up to date information.

While Craigslist does have a section called writing/editing, it does not list any active orders under that area. I am guessing this is because Craigslist is not the first site that comes to mind when somebody is looking for a writer in any capacity. Then, there is also the problem of the negative publicity attached to the name. While the other sections are actively participated in by both shoppers and providers, it is important to remember that caution should be used when dealing with any independent entity online. You never know if you are dealing with a negative person or not until after the deal closes.

Only a handful of online academic paper services still exist at this point. The way that technology has caught up with research and editing services has all but killed the human academic writing service market for the freelancers. While we are hoping that students will somehow return to hiring human writers and services, it does not look like that will be happening in the near future. There are still old school students out there who firmly believe in the talents and skills of the human writer as opposed to technology reliant papers and they are the ones keeping these struggling companies and independent writers in business.

Model exam questions and responses can now be availed of for free via Google Gemini and other AI apps. These systems act as a learning buddy and review tutor in most instances. More so when one actively uses the app to assist with his own writing needs as the system learns what you academically require and therefore, can generate test questions and answers that relate to your upcoming exam. The system can create several types of tests for you, which will come with an answer sheet to help you keep track of your responses. While you cannot fully rely on the AI for an accurate representation of your ability to pass the test, it will do the job of helping you to review and prepare for it.

This is no longer a fear among students these days. While most colleges and universities frown upon the use of AI for writing academic papers, they do allow the use of AI for the polishing of a student written draft paper. Therefore, the students today who might be questions because of their ESL grasp of the language can refer to AI editing of their paper to justify their grammatically correct writing in their papers. A writing tutor at the writing center of the university will accept this explanation.

I believe that they are still using human writers at their company since they are known for quality writing and easy to access writers. If we were to consider the current international inflation rates and cost of living per country, I think that the rates have ballooned overnight for those still active in academic writing. The cost per page should be at least $50 per page, regardless of the type of paper ordered. The cost should go up instead of down considering that human writers produce actually usable papers when compared to their AI counterparts.

Consider your monthly living expenses and your business cost (Internet subscription, computer wear and tear, mobile phone fees, etc.), compute those, then factor those into your basic cost of living to get the most appropriate cost per page going forward.

I recently learned that there are some academic writing companies that are still hiring writers, provided they agree to be paid in bitcoin instead of actual currency. I do not have much trust in a company that pays via bitcoin. There are just so many red flags when it comes to these companies. They tend to disappear overnight and writers do not actually know how much they are being paid in real currency since the bitcoin conversion is usually lower than expected, and never announced publicly. If the company pays in bitcoin, reconsider their offer, if you passed their assessment test that is.

You never know when these email addresses might be resurrected from the grave and the zombie writers suddenly come back to life. I believe that the AI hype will eventually die down and human writers will be back in business so early warning threads such as these will prove to be beneficial to students in the future. While I do not know of any active writers at the moment, this list is at least going to serve as a good reference point for future use.

Since this company is using AI generated images to represent human writers and, they are offering tools that help the student (for a fee), without having to hire an actual, human writer, I can only assume that they do not have more than 450 PhD writers on staff. Rather, they have an AI writing code that the students might mistake for a human writer, till they receive their paper filled with trash and empty of actual, useful content. Note the discounts that they keep giving for the orders please. Only companies that do not employ human beings to write the paper can take such huge pay cuts with each order. This company is hiding something from the students. I think it is the fact that AI is involved in the writing of the paper, when the student is paying for a human written paper.
