@Agirl33
I have a good feeling about you being allowed to retake the exam. Maybe it is plagiarism because they would have contacted you by now if they were doing an academic misconduct investigation.

Now take deep breaths and continue to calm down 😊

If that is the case then you may need to retake the test. It would be a real problem if they accused you of contract cheating in the test. At this point you have to fight the urge to keep inquiring about why the results haven't come out yet. Wrong assumptions and fake information is the last thing you need. Wait for the factual communication. Keep your strength up as best as you can. I think you should get a full body massage to help you sleep and relax your brain. You've been in overdrive far too long. You could accidentally cause yourself physical and mental damage now. Is there any way you can get a change of scenery for a few days? That may help you relax and take your mind off things till we get definite and confirmed information from your uni. Prioritize your mental health, please.

Essay Services / Test of Custompapers.com [48]

From what I have heard, the company has its good and bad points. Not all clients are satisfied with the service, which is a given in this business as writers cannot please everyone. There are those who swear by the service though and use them consistently through out their educational and/or professional period. I guess there is no real way of testing the company since the reviews are varied and logical. It all boils down to the user experience. The company seems to be steady though. No complaints from their onboard writers thus far. I take that to be a good sign of a good professional relationship between the two parties. Something that often translates to good client services, as I have observed over time.

It appears that universities across the world have become more aggressive when it comes to ensuring that students do not cheat when taking tests online. In light of Covid regulations in the past that allowed students to take exams remotely, thus allowing them to outsource the test to paid exam takers, and how these Covid policies are still in place for most universities, they have needed to take extra steps to prevent remote cheating by students. One of these methods is by using stealth software to monitor the academic integrity and honesty of the students. Contract cheating in exams is well known to the universities and their exam developers. Paying someone to take the test for you has proven to be more difficult, but not impossible for the IT guys of the university to check and prove.

Study CheatThese days, the universities use lockdown browsers in face to face exams. Preventing the use of the internet while taking the test. For remote testing, they now keep track of the regular student activity when compared to his geographical location when logging in to take any test. Using an AI, the tracks / clicks of the student during the exam time is traced and assessed. At the end of the trace, a report is then generated and submitted to the professor for all the students that took the test. Making it now quite dangerous to outsource / hire an academic writer to complete any given test for you. This also explains why some universities have a delay in the release of online test results for remote exam tests. IP addresses are checked for location in relation to the actual registered location and IP log history of the students. Where VPN is used or suspected, more advanced digital investigation is required before the release of exam results.

As far as I know, there are 2 known universities in 2 different parts of the world that do this, Miami University in the US and Deakin University in Australia. Who is to say that other universities across the globe are not using the same process when it comes to keeping remote track of their students during exams? Yes, the system has helped both universities to prove not only plagiarism, but also exam outsourcing by their students.I believe other universities across the world also employ these tactics in keeping track of students in-class and remote exam activities.

Be careful when hiring someone to take your test for you. The university may have a system in place to catch you doing it. Your future is not worth it. My suggestion is, take the test personally, regardless of what the results might be for you. Do this for yourself, for your academic integrity. Fail the test if you know you cannot pass it. Retake the test if given a chance. Be honest with yourself, the professor, and the university. Never place your academic integrity on the line because this will endanger your future as a student and future professional. It will be difficult to find another university to accept you as a student when your record includes a reference to proven academic dishonesty.

Try to remain calm. Try not to panic. There is no sense in panicking right now. You will most likely make yourself admit guilt without being asked about it if you continue like this. Keep your wits about you but refrain from losing your self control. I am not privy to the type of test that you had that person take for you so I cannot accurately say if they are concerned about potential plagiarism or another kind of cheating. Maybe let us know what the exam was about and what sort of tests were provided so we can better assess what might be going on? Only if you are comfortable with doing that though. If 12 students are being checked then you are not the only one who may have hired a writer to take the test. These writers will be from various companies or independent writers though. It is not necessarily just that one writer.

Plagiarism is considered cheating just the same. If it is plagiarism, then you need to prove that you unknowingly plagiarized, which is almost impossible to do. If the uni does approach you to resit, then just take the test over and do not say anything. If they question you, then you may need to get a lawyer familiar with the academic laws of your country to help you develop a believable defense, should you be brought up on academic dishonesty charges.

Was it a proctored exam? If so then there may be a suspicion that you had someone take the test for you because the proctor would check the IP address, student number, and other identifiers to confirm that you were actually the one who took the test. If the IP address passed through a VPN to get into the uni server, the IT department will be able to identify this and call attention to your test. If this is the case then you will definitely need to lawyer up because they may not ask you to retake the test.

Stop trying to second guess the situation for the time being. It will not do you any good physically, emotionally, and mentally. Do not exhaust yourself. Your family needs you to be functional. You need to be functional if you are to get yourself through this crisis. Rest as often as you can. Take a herbal sedative if you need to. Let's work on things as the problems come up. You are not alone in this. We will help you as best as we can.

Writing Careers / writers.ph is really a scam [34]

You are out of luck in this case. The companies have been releasing their writers, preferring to keep the new, low paid, or bad quality writers because it suits their financial bottomline. They will only work with writers that they can penalize heavily, to the point where nothing will be left of their salaries. At this point, it would be better for you to either start adveritisng yourself as a reliable academic writer independently or, changing career avenues. Academic writing is too bloody a business to get into these days since the client number has been dwindling steadily with the students shifting to ChatGPT and other AI apps for writing their essays. I believe that the time has come for you to evolve from being a simple academic essay writer. There are other writing jobs available for freelancers, you just have to know how to find the jobs. UpWork and LinkedIn would be helpful in that aspect. You could even start your own business blog, hawking your services as an academic writer if you wish to do so.

You could opt to become a Featured Writer at this forum, advertising yourself as an independent freelancer as well. Most students come here looking for independent writers and the featured writers only need to be active participants in order to promote their services. There are some forum rules you will have to follow to successfully promote yourself though.

It will be better and more beneficial for you to strike out on your own after all these years. You already have the skills that you need to succeed independently. Now, work on marketing yourself to the clients using relevant advertising avenues. This forum being one of them since it offers several self advertising options. Yes, you will need to spend money to make money. You might be surprised at how much more money you can make that way, even with expenses deducted.

Exam ResultIf my suspicions are correct, the exam answers that were provided by the person who took the exam fo you are highly similar in presentation to another student's or, was flagged for plagiarism. The school examiners are basically taking extra steps to prove to themselves that you or another student did not cheat when you both took the test. Either way you are not the only person under investigation. The same writer may have taken the same test at different times for different students, using the same response series.

Normally, the test results come out after a few days or, you will receive a notification that you need to retake the test. It does not have anything to do with the black mailers contacting the uni. It has everything to do with them doing such a lousy cut and paste job when they answered the test questions. The uni may have reason to believe that you might have used cheat sheets when you took the test. Not necessarily that you paid someone to take the test for you.

Whatever the reason for the delay in the release of your test results, it is important that you keep calm. Do not make any knee jerk reactions at this point that might add further to your image of guilt. Wait a few days. Wait for the results to come out or for the uni to advise you as to if you need to resit for the test. Try to remain calm and level headed as best as you can.

It is out of your hands now. You can only react to the results after it becomes known to you. Let us know of the scores or official uni communication. Maybe we can further help you then.

PS. This is based upon my knowledge of US exam under review information. It may be similar to the same reasoning used by UK universities.

Talk to their representatives, regardless of which company or writer you deal with. Being a student of Law, surely you will want hard facts backed up by evidence of any claims made by the company with regards to their writer's qualifications and skills. You have acumen when it comes to this because of your own educational background. Make sure your writer actually has a degree in UK Law rather than US or any other country's law. The educational background must be relevant to your needs.

Guard yourself by asking about the intellectual property rights as well. Make sure you ask questions that lead up to their potential to blackmail you in the future. These are the things that came off the top of my head. I am sure you can run and build upon these suggested inquiries.

There are companies that do not allow their writers to write papers outside of their actual undergraduate and graduate certifications. I suggest you look for and inquire from those companies instead since you have apprehensions about @a1writer recommendations. Those companies deal with UK based writers only as well. They are listed on Google and here at this forum through various threads as well.

Yup. Let's put it this way, PayPal is first and foremost a business. Therefore, they need to cater to all existing and future client bases. They were not only losing out on big money by banning these companies, they also had a problem with the companies calling their actions discriminatory hence, the backtrack on the decision. They simply reworded their payment sections to allow the writing companies and freelancers to continue using their services. PayPal will never say No to money coming in. They'lljust dance around the law with vagueness whenever they can.

I was also confused by the company location ang Google Earth presentation at first. I have seen companies located in the middle of a reservoir when I trace the address. But @a1writer has explained that further research on the company page lists its current actual location in the Middle East. Information I could not access at the time due to my limited capacity to view areas of the website.

So, I cannot make an accurate comment about the company at this time. Not when I am still locked out of accessing other parts of the site beyond the anchor page. I can only access cached pages via search engines, which may be old page references that are no longer valid at present.

Yes, companies do purchase fictitious addresses overseas as a location. As do freelancers. Neither can be fully trusted unless you have done your own due diligence. I stand by what I wrote above because it is public information. However, I also acknowledge that there may have been limitations to my knowledge at the time that affected the references I made in my comment.

I asked you to consider the advice of @a1writer simply because he has proven to be highly and accurately knowledgeable when it comes to UK based writing companies and how to avoid the pitfalls of the UK anti essaymill law . The final choice however is all up to you.

PayPal now accepts payments for academic writers under a special digital goods category. Both freelancers and academic writing companies may use that charge system to bill and receive payments. The only problem is that they put a 2 week hold on the money you receive in case of charge backs. If the client clears the payment immediately, then you can access it sooner than 2 weeks.

To paraphrase the title, what you want to do is a gamble. The company and the writer can tell you one thing, promise that the paper will not be published anywhere else, then do the exact opposite after the deal has been completed. This all boils down to a matter of being able to trust the company or independent writer. If you have read the previous new threads in this forum, you will know that the problem these days is no longer about the publication of the essays, it is about how the company and writer will blackmail you down the road. There is a much bigger gamble at stake now with regards to your educational future. So hire a company or writer only if one or both of them manage to instill believable trust and confidence within you.

Well, if you are a self publisher on Patreon, you earn quite more than that. Self publishing has actually evolved beyond the "vanity publication". These days, people of a specific interest can get together to read about what interests them the most, while paying the writer a premium for his articles and novels (as chapters are published). The monthly membership helps the self-publisher gain more through paid advertising on their sites as well. So while self publication may still be useful for those that believe in print and the early form of ebooks, the money to be made is really in the paid membership publications. Call it a higher level of "vanity publication".

@J Writer

I have to agree with you. Freelancing for academic writing companies isn't what it used to be. There are several companies that I know of which have actually put a freeze hire instruction in place. There just aren't enough orders to go around their writers pool these past few months / years. However, freelancing in other avenues like copywriting and blogging, or writing Vlog scripts are on the rise. Most academic writers that I know have already transitioned or begun to transition from academic writing since there are more work opportunities in those fields at the moment. The academic writing industry at this point has tapered off to the point where there are too many participants, not enough clients, even for freelancers. The long term freelancers who already have an existing client base could be considered lucky, but then their client base is also difficult to maintain at this point since money is fast becoming a major consideration for the clients. Not to say that the client base will not grow, just that it will be slower than before.

Hang in there and keep the faith. It is better to work for yourself than to work with a company, even as a conduit or middleman. They just muddle the situation most of the time. I also do not believe a writer is still a freelancer when attached to a company since the company has the power to reassign an order, penalize a writer for certain violations, and can call you any time of the day or night to fulfill an order. That sounds like a boss to me. Yes, I know, this may relate only to the 3rd world writing companies, but there are more of them in the business as of now.

There is no such language as "English" anymore. The original / official language has been bastardized by the way various countries have used the language to better suit their mother tongue. That is why "English" varies depending upon the place where it is spoken or used in writing. British English is far different and removed from American English. Both are related to to, but still highly different from Indian English. No one is to say that any one of these English versions would be incorrect. These versions are correct, depending upon the speaker.

Think of it this way, the UK alone has several variations of English depending upon where you are at that time. Irish English would be different from Scottish English, with the English speakers from both areas ending up scratching their heads sometimes, owing to the differences in English word references / etymology. Imagine all those English differences to be found in the birthplace of the language itself.

So I disagree, there is no such thing as a stupid foreigner writing in English. Only varied English versions. So it is up to the student to find the writer that speaks his version of English for the paper he needs written for him. He should pay for the quality he expects to receive, and that includes the version of English to be used in his paper to better reflect his spoken English, which should be highly similar to his written English.

Sorry I am late to the conversation but I thought I would add my 10 cents to it. Maybe you will find it helpful @Agirl33.

Rest assured the university is oblivious to the existence of your cheat. Why? There are some universities that reverse trace the IP of the student when he logs in to complete the test. They do this specifically because they know students tend to outsource the exam completion, specially in the light of the Covid hybrid educational system. Even with the correct access codes, when an IP tracker is in place for the test, the writer you hired would not gain access to the system. His IP would immediately be blocked by the uni system.

In this case, your uni was not equipped with such a system so the writer was able to take the test for you. That is also the reason why they think you can be blackmailed. Believe me, the uni is not aware that you had someone take the test for you. They would have contacted you soon after the test was completed to begin an inquiry if they had reason to suspect you. Do not pay out any more money to these people.

Since you are in the UK, I believe that this is one situation were one of our regular forum participants, who is a retired UK academic writer can help you. He could be more familiar with your situation than any of us here who are better acquainted with the US system, so the advice given to you may be faulty. @a1writer, can you lend a helping hand or offer more relevant advice to the student concerned?

Please note though that the IP information I shared here is common knowledge in the business and should have been the first reference for you. Be confident in the knowledge that your future is secure. They cannot ruin it. Most specially since you are withdrawing from the school anyway.

Well, the company no longer exists in present time. It is once again, a domain that plays host to a Chinese ad. China seems to be the current resting place for these unused and unsellable domain names for some reason. I hope that whoever bought the domain name in China to resell it has better luck than the first company that held the name for resale. So, no worries as of now. The company cannot do any harm to the students and writers looking for a job in this cooling market.

It appears that the owner of the domain let the rights to the url lapse. It is now available again and seems to be sold by a Chinese company. I believe that a Chinese company is squatting on the domain name because the page carries an ad for what I believe to be a doctor for something. I do not know how to read Chinese characters so I cannot really tell what is going on in that page. Just that it is still available, but it seems to be focused on the Chinese market for the domain name sale.

The job of a freelance writer is forever depending upon how well he adjusts to the situation. Find another niche to fill. There will always be a market for human writers, no matter how small. If there is none, then create one for yourself.

Most students and computer coding companies may prefer to use AI in the future, with minimal human intervention due to the speed and accuracy by which the AI produces content. The writer might be used for testing and program adjustments, in the case of coding.

Meanwhile, students would prefer to save their allowances by editing the AI generated paper to make it sound more like them by including relevant citations and text before passing it on for grading. They can also better avoid blackmail from writing companies and independent writers by using an AI. ChatGPT is a living and learning program that will eventually spew more human like text as it learns from its users. That will help students tremendously with their written homework for as long as the outdated form of intelligence assessment is used by the educational system.

In both scenarios, the AI user is in control and no longer in need of outsourcing the jobs to other people / writers. Therefore, the job of a freelance writer in academic and coding fields face a bleak future. That is my opinion only. Of course others could see it otherwise.
noted
Feb 03, 2023

Elon Musk previously indicated that the reason ChatGPT was created was to end the need for homework related to essay writing because that sort of learning tool does not prove the intelligence of the student. He indicated the outsourcing of the task as the main reason for this. Since some students would rather pay someone to do the homework, the purpose for doing it is defeated. He believes that actual learning can only be proven through practical application of lessons.

While tools are being developed to prevent ChatGPT from rendering homework irrelevant, I believe that teachers will adjust their teaching style to this new technology. Homework may still be provided only this time, it will not be in written form. My suspicion is that the teachers and professors will go back to the old school way of grading homework through class recitation / oral exams. This manner of testing would still leave room for writers to have relevant jobs in the future.

Writers will have more of a text summary function for students who will be preparing for non written based exams. This will be done as a part of the learning evolution, which has not really evolved over previous centuries. When the need for written evidence of knowledge in the classroom ends, so will the academic writing industry.

Therefore, there is a need for academic writers to begin diversifying in the business to assure themselves of continued income within the next 2 years. That is the time frame by which the creators of ChatGPT and its counterparts predict the technology (and academic writers) will render homework and written testing irrelevant to the learning process. ChatGPT may kill academic writing jobs, but not all writing jobs in the future.

There are still some written tasks, such as medical research that will require both physical experimentation and results writing, which can only be done by human beings with specialized writing backgrounds. What will end is the jack of all trades writing field, not writing jobs in general.

The domain for essayscamalert.com is still available. I guess nobody wants to buy it or, nobody knows what to do with such a domain name. Unlike EssayScam, the former company is not in the market to actually reveal the ills of the business. It was set up to protect the owner alone. There are already other rating and reporting options available out there so setting up another forum is not advisable. EssayScam works well already for that purpose.

I find the website this person set up to be highly elementary in presentation. It looks like a high school basic HTML project. It makes Freelancewriter's website look professional, and I do not mean that as a compliment. The static website of Melissa cannot possibly be drawing the kind of clients that she hoped to entice to her services. It does not have any attention getting features or offers.

I would not suggest hiring any writing company that is based in Ukraine at the moment. Even with Starlink their internet connection is unreliable. Starlink was installed mostly for their government's use rather than public convenience, so completing work from home tasks, or even a paid academic paper, is problematic for their companies and writers. Steer clear of their company services until the war in that country blows over. It will save you a boatload of problems when it comes to deadlines and revision requests. Imagine the horrors of asking for a refund from a Ukraine based company right now. I would not wish that sort of complicated problem resolution on my friends. Well, I would have to say that the company was not legitimate during its existence. Had it been legitimate then it would still be existing at present. Any company that does not survive to current times are sure to have been plagued by problems of legitimacy and writer salaries. Those are the most basic reasons why a company would go out of business when it could have found a way to stay in business instead. Since they worked in the background in terms of recruiting both clients and writers, there is actually no way of determining whether they were functioning in any legitimate or publicly acceptable way. Therefore, we can conclude that their incorrect way of doing business led to their eventual shutdown.

@gflowers you are definitely to be considered an authority in this instance, having personally gone through and successfully resolved your case. It is my hope that the OP will listen to you and heed your advice. You did everything properly.

I had no idea you were from Australia. Knowing that proves my point. That this academic blackmail is an internationally run scam and the perpetrators cross international boundaries because all progressive, first world countries have academic laws to speak of. Which is why students must be cautioned by the writers and writing companies against submitting the model paper for class credit.

Writers and writing companies that fail to do this or encourage students to directly submit the paid paper for grading should not be seen as remiss or uncaring. Rather, they should be considered as always having a future evil intent (such as academic blackmail) on their minds. The students they service will always be in their cross hairs.

Is there anything else that I can do or just wait and see for their action ?

I would stop contacting them at this point. I would not initiate any further contact. You have done what you can without hopefully opening yourself up to more blackmail and abuse from those people. Since the payment company will consider the case closed after 30 days without action from the other side, or with action from them, you have taken that course of action to the very end.

The point is you showed goodwill indirectly by cancelling the dispute. Never contact them again. Do not let them know that you are reading their emails or that you have taken action that could be considered positive on their part. Do not give them any avenue to think of another way to blackmail you. Do not open any communication doors to them.

Just keep quiet and see how everything goes. If you make any contact with them, you will be sorry. Take my word for it. Stay away from them. Do not communicate. That would be like telling a robber to take the money but give you the atm cards. They will take you to the atm to ask you to give them the money in your account. There is no benefit to apologizing to them or any sort of communication / contact. That will just make them think of some other way to blackmail you, if not go through with their threat of contacting your university. Do not try to correct one mistake with another mistake.

@Uodaferdous
One can never tell if they are bluffing. It is really all up to the company / independent writer and their evil intentions. These days though, the companies and independent writers are so greedy for money that they tend to follow up on the threats they make. Just to harass you for not giving them what they want. That is the revenge they will exact upon you. Which is why I am asking you to hope for the best (they will not follow through) but prepare for the worst (they will contact your university).

In case they do contact the university, the university will take their intention into consideration as they investigate your case and come to a decision about your status as a student. Let us know if they do contact your university. We will do what we can to defend yourself against the charges. If the semester ends without them making contact with the university authorities, then, you might be in the clear of their blackmailing and intention to contact the academic authorities.

A piece of unsolicited advice, do not cancel the payment. There is no sense in further angering them when they are threatening you. Your academic future is at stake here. By not filing a financial dispute, they might think twice about reporting you to the school authorities. It is best to ignore them and consider the money lost. Weigh your actions very well. There is no sense in needlessly adding fuel to the fire, which may result in their making their threat a reality. If not filing a dispute will make them think twice, then why risk it? It is one thing to ignore them. It is another thing to take action against them while ignoring them.

There is not much you can do at this point except to wait and see what happens. Yes, you can ignore their blackmail by sending their mail to spam. Yes, it will be better to block their calls. Never talk to or negotiate with blackmailers. Do not give them an inch of power over you. Play their game. See if they actually contact your university then deal with the consequences.

The main problem here is that you submitted the essay they wrote for you. If no changes were made by you to the paper to alter the original presentation, then you unknowingly participated in academic fraud. This happens when the student is not informed by the writer or company that he cannot submit the model paper for a grade due to existing academic laws across various countries. They do not open your eyes about the proper use of the paper because they have always intended to blackmail you when the time comes. Now, if you made changes to the paper, then you have a fighting chance should you be brought up on charges by the university.

I will be honest with you and say that should they contact your university, the results could be dire for you. Consequences range from a slap on the wrist to expulsion. None of which would be good for you because your student record will then carry a misdemeanor offense listing in relation to academic honesty. The police and the legal system of your country could be involved depending upon what sorts of laws you have broken. It could affect your future employment prospects. Do not forget though, the company and writer will also be sued by the university due to equal guilt of the offending parties ( the student and company / writer are seen as accomplices to the crime).

If you are lucky, they are just bluffing and will eventually stop bothering you without you having to face repercussions. I strongly suggest you prepare for both scenarios. Inquire with a lawyer just in case you will need legal representation. Tell him what happened and come up with a defense plan. This is one time you need to be proactive.

A student here recently successfully fought academic dishonesty and fraud charges at her university. You can use her actions as a template for your movements should your university inform you that they investigating accusations against you. Read the helpful advice here :

Just ignore the unrelated argument that followed after the results of the academic investigation were announced.

I am sure that there is a way we can help you should your case go forward. Keep us posted about the developments so we can advise you. I'm hoping for the best outcome for you. For now, all you can do is remain silent with the blackmailers and see where all these leads to.

You are selling yourself here as a business related writing service and yet, your SEO targeted copy on your site focuses on aiding students in who wish to engage in academic fraud. Without directly encouraging it, you are implying that students should submit the papers you write for them for a grade. Aiding and abetting falsely receiving academic credit. This is a clear case of academic dishonesty. No paid paper must ever be submitted for a grade. Your service should not be advertised that way, not even in its fake testimonials.

You will perform this paid task at what cost to the student? How is the student assured that he will not eventually be a victim of academic blackmail in the future? That is one of the major student concerns these days that your company fails to address.

These are empty assurances when the most important assurance, that the company and writer will not blackmail them eventually is missing. Considering that the company misrepresents itself twice via click bait, once in this thread and then upon clicking on their link.

I would not trust this company to be engaging in a legal deal with any student or professional. It lies way too many times in an effort to sell itself as a business.

For those of you who are worried about how the state laws of New York affects the way that you use both company or independent writer services, I strongly urge you to look up the case of State of New York V. Kathleen Sanksniit. The latter owned a term paper company in New York that was ordered to shut down and dissolve by the the state government, as represented by the state attorney general due to proven accusations of misrepresentation and essay mill services.

Academic FraudTo those of you unfamiliar with the case, the company was proven to be in violation of N.Y. Exec. Law § 63, subd. 12; Business Corporation Law, § 1101 since it was proven that the only business the company was involved in, as per their company name, was term paper writing. The company aliases Term Papers, Inc., New York City Term Papers, Inc., Term Papers Unlimited of New York, and Term Papers Unlimited New York were all ordered to dissolve upon the end of the trial (if that is the correct term for it).

Alongside this, the companies and its owners, represented by Sanksniit, also violated Subdivision 2 of Section 224 Educ. of the Educational Law that indicates:

No person shall attempt to obtain by fradulent means any diploma, certificate, or any other instrument purporting to confer any literary, scientific, professional or any other degree.

Considered a Misdemeanor, any person who aids and abets in violation of this law will be seen as guilty and face the same penalties as the student. Declaring that "I do not care how the students use the paper I wrote for them" is not an acceptable defense. The mere fact the company or writer knows he (as in default American gender reference) wrote a paper for a student already makes him equally guilty of the crime. Therefore equal penalties are applied.

This is the main reason why a student who buys a paper from any writer or company MUST rewrite the paper that was submitted to them upon ordering. This is also why the writers should advise the students revise the paper prior to submission. A student aware of the law is a protected student. A student will never be aware of these laws on their own.

Paying to have the paper ghost written is considered cheating. Submitting it for a grade is considered Fraud. Both the student and writer, when caught, will be held liable for the offense. This is a violation of N.Y. Educ. Law § 225. Basically, if the writer even has an inkling that the paper may be used in violation of academic law then, he will have assisted the student in gaining a diploma through fraudulent means. The writer knows this will happen once he receives the writing instructions for the paper. Asking the writer to "dumb it down" is evidence of knowing that the student intends to submit the essay for a grade.

In a nutshell, this is what the aforementioned person and company was accused of and had been proven to be in violation of. My advice? Rewrite the essays you buy to make sure you do not run afoul of this law. The companies and writers that blackmail the students in New York are aware of this law and know that they can use it to scare the student into paying for their silence in the long term.

I am not telling anybody not to hire academic writers, they do have their benefits. However, students should be aware of the law they are violating, which the universities will use during the academic trial. The student needs to work around the law and the only effective work around is to NEVER submit the bought essay for a grade. Always rework the paper to erase all trails of paid ghost writing.

My knowledge of the case may be incomplete. I may even have misunderstood some aspects of the case. The law is subject to interpretation, specially for a person without a Law background like myself. If someone has a Law background, that person does not have any excuse to knowingly disregard these laws as an independent writer or academic writing company owner. The basis of the laws do not change. No matter how one spins it, it does not erase the fact that New York Education laws are violated by students and academic writers when they do not clean up their tracks before submitting the paper.

Both the student and the company / writer should be covering their butts. For writers, it is to avoid being accused of aiding in Fraud. For students, it is to avoid potential blackmail in the future by the parties he engaged to ghost write the paper for him.

Wow! Thanks for the update. I knew that it would be a positive result in your favor. Congratulations on beating the bully. Your post will definitely help other students in a similar situation to yours. You did everything right. It could actually be a template for students regarding how to deal with academic blackmail in the future. This is a hard and memorable lesson learned for you and I am sure that you will be more careful when hiring a writer or company in the future.

A word of caution though. While this forum is a source of mostly legitimate writers, there are some scammers that show up once in a while. They are the sort that reach out to the students privately to sell their services. It is always better for you to approach the writer you find here based upon your personal assessment of the writer. So whether the writer advertises here or not, use caution when dealing with them. Investigate the background of the writer before hiring.

Keep your guard up. Trust not a single writer found through any source until that writer has proven himself to you, regardless of the number of reviews that writer may have at this forum. Always be cautious, it will pay off for you in the end.
