Glass houses, right?

That's pretty basic for anyone to know. To address your hollow arrogance, "most of the reader" was a typographical miss, in an unedited post.

He has no real information to add about their pay-scales.

How do you know? I am not here to answer your questions. I post what I like to post about.

You've come here after a long time only to have your rusted brain oiled. I will certainly do that.

Students should know that Ukraine is not legally bound by any serious treaty present in civilized countries,

Yes, they should; however, the majority doesn't, a sad fact. This forum was basically aimed at creating this awareness among students looking for essay writing help. But, like other so many companies, it has eventually decided to evolve into more a lucrative marketplace than being only a scam-exposing mirror.

As for Ukrainian companies, if I am not wrong, the knowledge-base of this forum most probably contains the largest amount of information on these companies. The credit goes to, until-recently, one of the most active members of the forum.

Maybe you should start your research from here. What you tell us has been repeatedly discussed here. Sorry for being so candid but you got to contribute something new.

Essay Services / experience with essaywriter.org [11]

The only fraudulent thing about this website is their claim to be american and claim to hire only native writers.

The collective wisdom on this forum has moved forward on this issue. It is generally agreed (by the majority and not by all) that the 'great debate' is not between non-native and native writers, it is about qualified vs. unqualified writers.

The saga also has it that there must be no misrepresentation of the facts.

Current trends around the world (and just just the essay writing industry) also tell us that it is more about brain than race or language. This is the reason more and more countries are hunting "global talent"; I don't think it is necessary here to point out which region in the world is seen as the greenest pasture for talent.

I am also convinced, based on my experience as an academic writer and a member of this forum, that it is probably almost impossible for even one single essay writing company to state that all they have is plain 'native' writers.

If someone operating a website is from Australia, it doesn't mean every Australian citizen would/should know about them.

My little research tells me that this wordpress blog was established for the original essay writing websites, i.e., ubaath.com and ubaath.net. However, it is also very likely that the venture to attract Arabic students studying in countries like Australia, US, UK, etc. has come to its end.

The last post is years old. Both the main websites are dead.

There is much more that I found about it, but it seems this much description is enough.

I don't think they do.

@Editor75 - Impressive comparison of the two countries. However, you might probably want to think about your post: does it really make sense? To most of the reader it may sound like 'the jingling of rusted iron-chains'. You've posted after a long time. The chains seem ever more rusted than before. :-p

You're welcome.
However, would you mind letting us know what made you think they "look good"?

@Major
A website that doesn't provide a physical address nor a phone number looks good. Wonders of competition!

Dissertation Data ResearchI just had a look at the website.

Though they may have a few writers who can be good at data analysis, the site in itself does not tell you what data analysis (statistical or descriptive) is.

The copy just does not say anything about it. Consider:

"We can get you the best data analysis dissertation because we understand the data analysis techniques and are ready and willing to apply them to your paper".

Data analysis dissertation?

Data analysis techniques or specific approaches and methods to data analysis?

Apply them?

Last, they state that the visitor can view examples of data analysis on the website; however, despite my efforts trying to find out such examples, I could find nothing.

This has been a very common practice for long. Besides attracting the novice-to-online-world clients, it also helps them put in place a few SEO related strategies to boost SRs. However, new algorithmic updates from Google are certainly going to give these companies a bit of setback. It's quite interesting to watch what alternative ways they devise now to stay in the business with the same approach.

Google banned (still bans?)

I think you need to spend a bit of your time looking around what Google does or does not. I would give just a little hint: Google is thirsty for income it acquires from paid keyword search campaigns.

English speaking writersThis argument has continued on this forum for a long time; however, most of the writers here agree that the debate is most probably not between native and non-native writers, it is between qualified and unqualified writers.

A parallel theme that has also continued here (since the genesis of the mighty forum) is whether native English speaking clients should be served by non-native or native English speaking writers.

The native English writers assume a very clear position that native English speaking clients should be served by native English writers only: dot. The ESL writers (like me) and may be some EFL writers (no one that I know of to date) extend that native English speaking clients can also be served by ESL writers given that they're (i) qualified and (ii) honest.

This position has not gained much acceptance on this forum (among the native English writers), to be honest. And, this is a clearly justified position.

However, when it comes to the WWW, things change.

Globally, the non-native English speakers aggressively 'outnumber' native English speaking population in real life (and the number is multiplying by every passing day).

Access to Internet and communication technologies is fast becoming part of global life. As more and more people participate in the global marketplace, the competition becomes more lethal.

Most of the ESL/EFL countries like India, Pakistan, Malaysia, China, etc. were 'trained' by native English countries to save aggravating labor costs on their products: OUTSOURCING.

That is absolutely the point. But if you read my point above, I have tried to point out a few characteristics of a scamming client in order to help others understand how to avoid them beforehand = before getting completely screwed up.

A serious client and a scammer cannot be the same. So, they never go about business the same way.

There are a number of ways any professional writer can try to avoid dealing with a scamming client. However, to me, the most important strategy to avoid a scamming customer is to decide, right in the beginning, whether to work for someone or not.

Cheating StudentYes, it is the first few communications that can tell you about the seriousness of a client and whether they mean to pay you or not.

Generally, serious clients show the following characteristics (according to MY personal experience):

- They do a proper research about a writer before approaching them for their paper.
- They have a clear idea about why they are hiring you and why not other writers/companies.
- They are more concerned about the QUALITY of their work and practical guarantees for not being scammed.
- Once assured, they are ready to accept any method of payment that ensures the writer they will not scam him/her.

And some more.

On the other hand, a customer that is clever and thinks of getting away with the work without paying the writer shows the following characteristics:

- They are somehow hesitant in establishing a working relation with the writer.
- They try to drag the topic of payment on for some and place more stress on receiving completed research work.
- They want more and more work written as SAMPLE before they could decide they want to hire you or not.

And some more.

ANY serious writer would stop here!

Honestly, this looks good. However, I am skeptical of it being more a marketplace than a text-matching algorithm. An established company at least has some corporate responsibilities for what they do.

Second, are we talking about plagiarism check or similarity-index? Hope you know the difference between the two.

worth considering provided they charge considerably less

This can be one reason. But it's not the only reason to hire a freelance writer.

worth considering provided they are legitimate / reputable.

Major has answered his own point. The entire issue is with the companies being 'legit and reputable' vs. 'the ones that misrepresent facts'. We know very well that by the hour more and more scam companies are being established on the Internet. It leaves the legit ones under extreme pressure to compete.

Above all, the most challenging part is 'how can a client reach a 100% legit company?' Google? No way! Lethal SEO methods are perhaps giving an edge to those companies that are probably 'not legit'. There is one famous company that flaunts on its website a case it won against a misrepresenting company. My question is what guarantees are there that legit companies (only a very few in number) attract more global clients (to earn more profits) than those that are not 'legit'? No one probably even knows how many of the two kinds exist over the WWW.

This leaves us with more of less the same ambiguity that the clients may confront while dealing with a writer or a company for the first time.

Legitimate companies have some sort of a hiring process.

Which legit companies? I do not want to know. It is the clients that must understand that 'these legit companies' have 'some sort of a hiring process'. Unfortunately, the legit ones seem not to be doing a great job in assuring the global clients of their legitimacy.

This forum has not provided the support that was perhaps envisioned while it was being developed. It ended up becoming a marketplace in itself. No one should forget the legal actions, revenge, scathe, and bloodshed that took place in the recent history here and in its neighborhood.

More and more posts about company reviews (negative and positive) leave the global customers in more gray.

Dr. Paul Steward.

This is a valid point. A disposable email never guarantees who's actually who. What about the claims on a company's website (legit or not) "We employe PhDs to handle your order...., and so on"?

In both the cases, it is the client's ICTs skills that must be put to work. If so, then legit or illegitimate companies, scam or honest writers sail the same boat.

who don't misrepresent their skills, location, or credentials.

True. Legit companies don't 'probably' do so. They should go out and tell their potential clients about it. Can they do so? Yes they can. But it seems the pendulum is swinging the other way more.

With their physical address in place, along with other legit details, they ARE NOT 100% transparent about (i) the qualification of their writers and (ii) their quality standards.

Writer or AgencyA scam freelance writer is a tiny bit as scamming as a BIG company. The former may take away a small chunk; while the latter can cause the client a huge earthquake.

The problem seems to be getting worse by the day, isn't it?

My personal experience as an ESL freelance writer.

It has always been my professional curiosity to learn, when a client approaches me for some work, that why he/she is willing to hire me rather than go to a legit company.

I would list some of the reasons:

1) Communication barriers, delays, and semantic noise. "They don't really understand what I am trying to say".

2) Paying the whole amount upfront. I don't know about other freelance writers, but to me getting paid in installments is not an issue.

I remember a client. He was well aware of which companies were legit and which were not. He had a PhD thesis to go. I asked him the same question. He told me that to hire a company he would have to sell his apartment or he would never be able to pay them in one go.

The amount he paid me for per page compensation was almost similar to what that company would have charged him. I won the project because I was willing to work in bits and pieces that assured him an effective monitoring of my work as well. I beat the giant here!

As my clients have my necessary contact details with them, I am there to assist them in sheer ABSENCE of a company rep. relaying messages back and forth. They find it quite satisfactory to discuss 'matters' directly with their writer - in OUR CASE.

3) Too many of these companies. Don't know where to go.

Too many of the writers may also be a case here. But there is a difference. There are writers with virtual connections and reputation, and maybe relatively better skilled (ESL/Native) vs. those that lack in this area.

The clients are living human beings. They may employ some effective strategies to pin down a legit freelance writer (I won't discuss what strategies - or you would think I am advertising my services here). It is quite obvious to understand that a sensible client who faces the issues mentioned above can conveniently tell after initial communication if it is THE writer with the SKILLS that he/she wants for their work.

The same is probably not possible with a company since all they can tell them is 'they are legit'.

--

That said. Major has time and again shown his contempt to the "disposable email".

With an honest freelance writer, this 'disposable email' is their real strength. It is their trade mark. To them it is no more disposable. It may be disposable with the scamming writers. So the same goes for a domain name when it comes to a scam company.

Thus, it would be appropriate to suggest that these are two different niche markets with specific strengths and weaknesses.

I think starting a new thread "Freelance writers vs. essay companies - strengths and weaknesses" won't be a bad idea now.

This thread can help the freelance writers and the essay companies to brainstorm their strengths and weaknesses to see where the two stand. This will not only benefit us as parties in the same industry, it will also give a better idea to the potential customers about who to look to in certain situations.

Nov 24, 2013

I must say that the points made by Major are very substantial; similarly, the counterargument by FLW is also noteworthy.

I thought I should just share my personal standing as an ESL writer in the industry. I rarely work for less than 15USD per page (275 words). However, I did accept as low as 3-4USD back in the mid 2000s.

Now, what about the highest compensation? I find it quite logical to argue that perhaps it's very difficult to understand how the global audience/customer acts and reacts to what they're looking for over the WWW, and how much they're willing to spend.

The highest compensation I have ever received was 34USD per page for a PhD thesis of around 250 pages. Occasionally, I find customers that are willing to pay (given they're quite assured of the quality of the work delivered) as much as 25USD to ME not to a native speaker. Just a few days ago I did a critical literature review for an Australian citizen who paid me (very willingly - though I thought I would start from the higher end to settle somewhere around 20) 25AusD per page.

Let me quite honestly say that I sometimes wonder about all the dynamics of the cyber marketplace. Otherwise, ESL writers like me will find LITTLE room to survive given (i) the market sees the bloodiest competition today that's growing by the minutes, and (ii) many more freelance writers trying their luck (in the presence of already established, well-qualified native English writers).

The longer you stay in the industry, the more widely you get known (provided that you produce the quality that can satisfy your client).

However, if you're a new entrant, relying on the "email-marketing" may not work for you. So you probably want to let go some of the 30K for marketing your name.
MeoKhan
Nov 15, 2013

Back in 2003 or 2004, when I was really very young and not so skilled in the ICTs, I came across a new article repository (or publishing type of business) started by an amateur US-based French young man. As I have always been interactive and willing to write, I signed up for that website and just contributed with anything I could with my then quite under-developed ESL skills.

I continued for quite some time. One day, however, the owner approached me announcing that he was closing down the business as it was unable to generate any sufficient revenues and was moving onto a another area in "student assistance". He also stated that he was impressed by my passion to write and would like to consider me on his team.

After just a few months I started writing papers for his customers who I don't know how he managed to attract.

The most important part of this entire venture was that (unlike today's trends) everything was open - I directly communicated with the students and vice versa. Now, that person is still in business but with little contact with me. I, however, have thrived since then.
MeoKhan
Nov 14, 2013

To me it all depends on how one sees the entire concept of being marketed out there. There are writers in the same industry who may attract more clients through marketing+networking (without spending any money).

I, however, also assume that it was more effective for a writer who started say five years ago. New entrants, I must say, face fiercer competition today (as established writers do too). Thus, spending money today on brand-marketing is important. But it would really be hard to come up with clear estimates to put in that equation.

It would be better if other writers can share their experiences here.

I have not spent 'anything' on marketing my name and/or services but I do have a satisfactory customer base.

Essay Services / Assignmentexpert.com PROBLEMS [39]

It is more like a threatening game than something substantial. But there are a few cases in which the students' institutions were indeed informed.

Students MUST do everything possible to hide important contact details. Though good companies and writers never do it, there are instances where students are a pain in the neck for the writers and vice versa. This forces the relevant parties go above the set standards.

One such case became very popular here (on this forum) and the EssayChat. I still remember the huge data generated by the student on both the forums (and maybe elsewhere) and countered by the respective writer - a member of this forum.

There are quite a few e-commerce payment processors like PayPal. You should google it. I wouldn't want to mention any of them here because I don't want to sound like their 'paid agent'. :-P
MeoKhan
Nov 02, 2013

That game is changing quite a bit

First, I didn't start this threat. Most probably the mods have put my post (that was written in response to a post in another threat) to initiate a very important area: SEO, specially in the wake of new Google guidelines.

Second, I do agree with you that it's more about being creative than being 'linked'.

Just a couple of hours ago I was viewing a page on a very popular academic essay site. I was surprised to see that the company was struggling with its SEO strategy. I wondered what its SEO experts were doing.

May I add: it's most rational to argue that the present-day trends may point to a future where SEO campaigns would be all about individual-focused, micro-level genuine backlinking than heavily budgeted buying, selling, and exchanging of "backlinks".

Essay Services / Assignmentexpert.com PROBLEMS [39]

Because first you focused much more on the skills of the students that work for this company. You took considerably lengthy space to do so. Second, as "Major-ed" above, you then went on to justify the difference between a programming language and a human one. It paints more like the BIG 'positive' image of the concerned company. What have you exposed about this Ukrainian website? Nothing else but the good things.

Sorry, Igor, but to me your revealing the BIG secret about the Ukrainian company seems more like a well-crafted move to attract prospective customers to the same company. Are you not still on their payroll?
