If the work wasn't started (and it doesn't sound like it was), then you are entitled to a refund.

The OP never started the writing process. No money changed hands in physical or e-payment form. So the OP would not need to ask for a refund. Neither was the writer entitled to a cancellation fee. There was no final order contract of any sort. So, it is possible that the writer was just trying to nurse a bruised ego. He knew perfectly well that he had not reason to threaten to report the student to the university. The student did not do anything wrong. If thinking of hiring a writing service, seriously considering it, then changing your mind is part of academic dishonesty, then thousands of students would be expelled by now.

This is why I always tell the students to keep the university name and professor's name out of the instructions process. Do not be so lazy that you cannot make your own cover page and running headers for the paper. That is what sinks these students. Can the company report the student for plagiarism? Definitely. Can the student be given an academic punishment if the company can prove plagiarism? His academic career ended right there. No school will accept him once he is blacklisted for plagiarism. I take that back, a third rate university that does not really have academic integrity might accept him. Yes, there are schools like that.

If an ESL college student ends up in an American university, he is going to need all the help that he can get. Passing the TOEFL and getting admitted into a university are two different things. One is simply a test, the other, requires academic and intellectual brawn. If he wants to stay in school in the US, then he needs professional writing help. Who are we to deny them that academic assistance? It isn't a matter of protecting the student, it is a matter of helping the student stay in his dream school and achieve the bright future he envisions for himself.

If the website design is similar, that means the company used the same developer for both sites. It was probably cheaper to do it that way. If the information is highly similar, then the companies must be related. Considering that they have highly similar URL's, I would not be surprised if it is run by the same unimaginative people. I mean, they could not even be bothered to think of a unique name for the second website. Amateurs. They should have changed the name totally even as they kept their original company set up. The students don't delve past the company name most of the time. So changing the names totally and making it seem like the sites are not related would have helped their potential clients develop some trust in the company, based on its name, since there is nothing else to base trust of them on.

Massive cheating is a thing of the past. Changes to the way classes are done, class requirements, and submission procedures are going to evolve because of Covid-19. Classes will now be done on a more relaxed scale. It will be in a hybrid form of e-classes and formal classroom training. Or, it could be e-classes alone. The decision about that is still up in the air. So this massive cheating talk may just end up being a topic of the past. Sure they may have cheated in the past, but with the changes happening in the school industry, such moves may no longer be necessary for the students. Let's see what happens when the next academic year opens before we continue to agree or disagree with the previous report. As of now, it's just too soon to tell.

Always remember that anybody can say anything on the internet, and never need to prove it. So don't let any scam artist threaten you with a "journalist" and exposing you. A reputable journalist doesn't work in the manner indicated by the OP. In fact, a good journalist will be able to access information, without having to pay someone for the data. That's just a load of crap meant to intimidate students who mistakenly trusted the writer. There is no power in blackmail if the student doesn't give the scammer the power to blackmail them.

A work credit indicates that the company you hired is not financially afloat. Any company that offers a work credit rather than a complete refund should not be trusted. I would not trust a company that would rather refund in kind rather than in cash. They could fold up within an hour and you would never see a penny of your money again. Always be suspicious of any company that indicates a satisfaction guarantee. They know that such words make them seem trustworthy, in truth, that should be a red flag. Ask around before you trust a company that makes such lofty claims regarding the work of their writers. It is usually an exaggeration on the part of the company. They use such words to win your trust, then con you later on.

I do not immediately price the project once I receive a work request. I always ask the client to present the work requirements first, his budget second. I then work my expenses around the budget and work requirement. Depending upon what my final costing would be for each page, I would either add on to the proposed price or, accept based on the initial offer of a client. I try to never haggle the price since the student is the one that requires my service, so he should be willing to pay a premium price for a guaranteed A grade paper. I am always ready to walk away from any client who tries to haggle my price.

There are also instances when the university and colleges themselves encourage the students to find a student to write a paper for them or, hire a writing service, paid for by the college or university. However, these instances are limited solely to the athletes, jocks, and other students who bring glory to the university or college by performing well at muscle based events. These athletic scholars, athletes, and other varsity players normally spend more time on the field and outside the classroom than inside the classroom. So they tend to miss classes, exams, projects, homework, you name it, they missed it. As we all know, an athlete who fails his class cannot play, so the pressure is on to help the athlete produce acceptable grades in class. The coaches can only do so much. So when it comes time for the student to make up his dismal performance, professionals are often called in to help achieve the grading goals.

The pre-written papers are actually the "model" papers that the "original model papers" are supposed to be. The students know beforehand that these papers have been previously published and they will not be using the paper for a grade being conscious of that fact. They have no problem with purchasing the pre-written papers because they will be using it only as a source material, if the information is less than 5 years old, or, as a basis for their fresh research, if they choose to do so. Most students who purchase model papers tell me that they do so because it helps to augment their classroom and textbook studies as well. They actually use it as a part of their study materials when they feel that they are not getting enough information in the classroom and, their research papers need some heavier information included. They tell me that it beats having to use online sources and looking for pertinent information one at a time.

A writer can actually charge skies the limit, or go basement price, regardless of the word count. It all depends upon the negotiation between the client and the writer. Normally, a student will try to haggle the price over a series of emails or several chats. The prices has to be based on the ability of the student to pay in full upfront and, the financial needs of the writer. The perfect price for 1000 words is usually somewhere in between these 2 pricing considerations. Normally, my clients sign up for the deal happily when I meet them halfway, without sacrificing too much of my personal income needs. There is always going to be another client who will make up the difference.

General Talk / Plagiarism or NOT? Need help [11]

If the paper is based on two different points of view, using different information, and is presented in an totally different format, then there should not be any problem reusing an old topic. Just don't use the same sources for the papers. Since one is from a family perspective and one is from a research point of view, there is no conflict within the topic, or the presentation. This will not be considered plagiarism by any professor. Instead, it shows that the student has a keen interest in this specific field of study and research. No professor will fault the student or penalize the student for having an interest in a specific topic that he pursues researching throughout his academic career. It would have been better if the student totally changed the title of the paper as well. I wonder if he ever did that.

Automatic pricing has lost it's value in the updated academic writing market. The prices are now negotiated by a human being on the other end of the chat. It took some time but the companies finally realized that automating the pricing system was not good for their profits since the writers kept asking to renegotiate the price of the orders either through bids, or upon assignment of the order to the writer. The automated pricing was not accurate then and isn't accurate now. Pricing should only be done by human beings, not AI. Mostly because human beings work on the principles of logic that may not be programmable into an AI. You know, stuff like work hours, actual page count, specific client requests, these are things an AI can never understand and price properly as a part of a given service.

I actually know of one highly reputable company that allows writers to directly contact their client based on any VOIP platform that the client chooses to use. In fact, that company is one of the most trusted and promoted on this forum. Sadly, I do not have their direct permission to mention their company name at this forum so I cannot openly tell you which company it is. Though the company has a group of writers working for them, these writers are basically personal/independent writers since the company allows direct communication between the two. The company sees no problem arising from the direct contact. They do not have a problem with it because the payment of the client still passes through the company, so their conduit position remains protected. The writer won't get his payment even with direct contact with the client because the client prepays for the paper. Hence their lack of interest in controlling the writer-client communication channel.

Anybody can investigate and come up with these company names. It isn't difficult to do that. The claims you make against these companies are generalized. There is no clear evidence of proof of their wrongdoing in your post. Claiming to be a victim of one of the companies, without offering substantial supporting information makes your plea difficult to believe. Urging people to spread the word, without having any actual evidence to back up your claims makes you nothing more than a fake news source. Claims without evidence should fall upon deaf ears. Unless you can convince me, through your detailed and factual experience with a specific company under this group, that you were scammed, I will take your claims with a grain of salt. Make these claims by supporting it with your own experience, as you mentioned, not simply through supposed investigations that could be faulty or worse, false on your part. Don't damage (a) company name(s) and unknown writers without first, showing you have proof to support all your claims based on your experience with the company.

Academic writing companies and independent writers who have stared the effects of the pandemic in the face know that they are struggling to pay off their expenses. With the cancellation of in classroom learning and the emergence of online schooling, students are finding that they have more time to work on the papers themselves. So don't expect the third world companies to raise their rates to any level over the next year or so. In fact, I fully expect the writing companies to go under, while the independent writers start to evolve and spin off into other writing fields. Their work in the non-academic fields, which is now a dying industry, will be paid a lot more than simply $0.01 per word.

Since you have to resubmit your paper, I would like to suggest that you rewrite the paper instead. Rephrase the original content and add more information to the paper to create a totally new paper. Erase all tracks of the original as much as you can so that you can claim that you developed the paper by yourself. The idea, is to prove that you had to rewrite the paper due to the additional information and your desire to make the paper more informative. You cannot be charge with plagiarism if you change the format, the words, and add information to the paper. That negates any plagiarism accusations.

I wonder why he never thought of simply using the DND list for his hacking project. It would not have involved anyone and the only risk would have been to him. That is the main reason nobody responded to him. Nobody is willing to risk their job, no matter how small the salary, by ratting out on his employer. Even if they wanted to crucify the scam of a company, they would want to protect themselves first and let the OP hang out to dry on his own. Agreeing with him from the sidelines and wishing him well in his quest, but refusing to actually come out in a show of support for him.

The DND list should be the best friend of the students looking for reputable writing companies. Yet most of them fail to use that very hand listing of the worst academic writing companies out there. If they would just download that list to their computers or phones, they would not have to keep asking us the same questions over and over again at this forum. Based on what I have seen of the list, these are the well known, problematic companies that are often complained about both publicly and privately by students. I believe it is a reliable list that should be the go-to thread for 90% of the students at this forum.

A writer can often negotiate the rate of an order that size. Never accept the first offer. Always ask the company to meet you halfway or at least give you a slight increase per page. They will often agree to this as they always have a leeway built in for possible writer page payment increase requests. If you negotiate, they will work with you. Only companies that really plan to not pay the writer will make excuses to not give you a rate increase if you ask for one. Always remember, you can negotiate your worth. The company knows how much you should be paid. Learn how to trick them into giving it to you.

Kenyans still try to work in the academic writing business. Some of them pull it off, others don't. While some would give them an A for effort, that isn't enough to help them make the grade in this business. They have to be better educated, or at least better read than they are at the moment. Their problem in writing comes from their lack of up to date knowledge about academic requirements and procedures. They are backwards in terms of education. This backward education is what prevents them from doing well at their job. This is perhaps the main reason that they always get turned down when they apply for writing jobs. They may get hired by a questionable company, but they soon find out that they were working for free. Which is perhaps a major reason why the classless companies hire Kenyans.

Some scammer will weigh the benefits of paying to keep their scam going or to get it started against how much they assume they can make. If the price events out in their mind, then the fact that Craigslist charges for posting will not be a problem for them. They won't think twice about it. Considering that Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites charge to advertise companies, including academic writing companies or freelance writers, having to pay a fee to post just isn't something these con artists would think twice about. They will just consider it an investment. So, I really doubt Craigslist will be able to get rid of the bad eggs just because they charge to post these days.

This student got lucky. I hope that he learned his lesson and never tried to use an academic writing company again. Then again, there are some independent writers who would try to fleece a student one way or another. It is important to learn lessons from this particular case. The most important being, never submit identifiable data to anybody. Not to a company writer, not to an independent writer. Students must learn to protect their privacy even though they are used to oversharing information. There are times when oversharing poses a problem, as in this case. The only thing that saved this student was the fact that he did not use the paper at all. So all accusations would not have any evidence to back it up.

I have always believed that independent writers have more morals than the company engaged writers. That is because the company engaged writers are no different from the company that they work for. They are out to make a quick buck and will do anything to accomplish that. Independent writers have morals because they work for themselves. Their conscience dictates their values and the treatment of their clients. As such, they run a business based on ethics. As a company owner and writer myself, I have always valued the integrity that comes with this job. My writers know that the minute they produce a paper that was obviously made just to earn from the client, they will be out of a job. I do not tolerate unethical business practices. My company uses ethics to keep our writers in check. It isn't always just about the money.

I did not get a sense that he was asking for a second chance at his university. No student asking for admission reconsideration would openly admit to using writing services, specially of the inferior kind. The first part, I will admit, sounded like a plea for reconsideration. Then the latter part changed my mind. I think he was given a load of projects and papers to complete so that he could pass the semester, which is why he came to this forum. Unfortunately, we never did hear from him again so we will never know if he found a writer to work with from this forum and how everything turned out for him. From the sounds of it though, he was really looking at expulsion due to his inability to meet the minimum grade requirement of the university. It's too bad he did not sign up for a party university instead. He would have been sure to pass if he went to such a university.

If you want to be fair and legal, then consider hiring the writing service only for a specific service. That is, to have them complete the research angle, but not the writing angle of your paper. Give them instructions regarding your information requirements and then, upon receiving the information, you work on the paper yourself. To make your task easier, you can also ask them to indicate sections you can use for paraphrasing or citation in your text. They can format that for you in reference to specific information required by your paper. By asking the company or writer to complete the research, but not the total paper, you will have honored the code of ethics and academic integrity of your university. You paid only for research, not a model paper, not a grading ready paper, you only asked them to complete the information reference for you. That keeps you within the fair and legal zone.

It is because of this copyright question that I developed a 6 month deletion policy for the papers my writers create. Stored on my company server, the student is told upon the submission of the paper to them that the electronic version uploaded by the writer will be held in our server for 3 months before it is moved to our back up servers. The storing for 3 months in Server A is meant to keep a file for the client in case of revisions, additional related orders, or anything that requires the writer to access an original version of the paper. The move to Server B is the final step where, after the semester is completed, the paper is totally deleted from the system. No copy is retained and the ownership of the paper / intellectual property for the paper is assuredly in the client's corner. To be clear, the client knows that the rights to the paper are automatically turned over to him / her after it is submitted and the deletion process was only meant to drive home that point.

If a student would like to be sure that the writer can pull off the job, he should ask the writer to write a summary of how he would approach the writing of a paper. Similar to a bidding system, I ask my writers to submit their application bid to the client in the form of a summary of their understanding of what the assignment requires them to deliver. Based on the knowledge of the writer, the student will have a better opportunity to assess the knowledge of the writer, the writing style, and his ability to complete the paper. This prevents any writer who simply wants to bid on the high priced order, without actually having the skills to complete the paper, from applying for the job.

Writing Careers / how to get clients for essays [24]

Believe it or not, TikTok is proving to be an extremely fantastic way to recruit clients. I have been uploading quick "writing tips" on that social media platform with unbelievable results. I uploaded 5 quick tutorials and found not only new followers, but new visitors to my website. More than half the people referred by TikTok ended up signing for my services. The clients I got from TikTok were actually quite easy to deal with. They even referred other subscribers to my TikTok channel and, prior to the lockdown, they were in serious discussion with my writers and myself regarding their schoolwork. I am hoping that eventually, my return to TikTok and the (hopefully) reopening of classes will result in those deals reaching a finalized status.

General Talk / Custom Essay Vs Good Writer? [10]

students don't realize that writers can help in ways other than just writing.

Actually, students are becoming conscious of this already. During the lockdown, I had students coming over to my company, requesting that I, or one of my writers kindly collate the research material for them for their use in writing their own papers. I think being locked at home meant their parents could supervise their studies so they had to write the paper themselves. Several of them submitted e-copies of their class material with the request that we merely summarize the content in a manner that would allow them to write the paper in their own way. It was a bit difficult at first, it is always easier to write the whole paper than create only an information sheet for it, but we adjusted and it helped the company generate income when we should have been gasping for air to survive the closing of the schools.

The problem is that we are hearing only one side of the story. We cannot really judge whether this writer is good or not because we are not familiar with her writing style. We should not automatically take her partner's word for it when it comes to the reality of her situation. How much of is reality and how much of it is exaggerated to make the woman look better at her job than she actually is? It is important to take testaments such as these with a grain of salt. The writer is from the third world so I would not really put too much stake into the claims made by the OP. Rather, I would wonder why she would want to jump companies, without considering going into the writing field independently, which is what these ESL writers seem to always prefer to do.

The academic writing business is all about deception in the first place. The students accept the homework, project, research paper, or whatever on the premise that the professor will get them to actually work on the paper. All that work is part of the learning process for the student. When the student hires a writer, he deceives himself into thinking that he will get the grade he deserves for the paper he did not write. Upon receiving the paper, the student submits the same to the professor. This is another form of deception. The student deceives the professor into thinking that he actually wrote the paper and learned something from the writing process. The professor gives another topic for research, homework, etc., and the vicious cycle starts all over again. Basically, the whole business is based on deception so it is useless to discuss "deceptions that control the essay industry". The deception starts at the academic level, not at the company / writer hiring level.

While I do agree that being leeched by the companies should never be acceptable in any form, I will agree that the regular income they provide, though variable, is of tremendous help to writers. That said, I would never advise a writer who is attached to a company to totally give up the affiliated writing scheme. Instead, I would ask him to try and combine affiliated writing with freelance writing. Nobody ever said that he could not strike out on his own and try to build his personal client base while still getting whatever little benefits the company writing gig offers him. Never quit your job when you do not have a strong replacement in place. Quit writing for the company only if you are already earning more than enough from your independent writing gigs. Ensure a steady stream of work first because that will be the first thing to go the minute you let go of the writing company gig.

I consider the writing job a regular 9-5 job. If I do not give myself a time limit in the form of an actual work day, My tendency will be to work until I complete the paper. It could take me about 20 hours to complete a 25 page paper, depending upon the source material, formatting requirements, and other instructions the client has for the paper. The client normally gives me about 3 days to a week to complete the paper so I should not be spending 20 hours working on it. Being a workaholic though, I just can't seem to stop working once I get started. Which is why I eventually had to give myself the work time. The constant tapping on the keyboard drove my house companions up the wall. They begged me to create work hours so they could sleep at night in peace. Hahaha !

I am sure the IRS planners are already thinking of ways to allow everyone, not just freelancers, to keep more of their money for their personal and business use. It is becoming obvious that work from home will be a permanent fixture for most offices and freelancers may be part of the groups that will benefit from the tax breaks. Let's just wait and see as to what kind help might come from the taxman.

I am wondering if the OP ever bothered to verify the validity of the email he received. It is quite possible that it was sent out in error and had nothing to do with his application for a regular position. He should not have jumped to conclusions without first investigating the facts. We cannot explain to him why he lost his job because we were not the ones who fired him. Just because he doesn't have an employment contract with them doesn't mean they can release him without reason. He was well within his rights to have demanded a full explanation as to why he was fired. Normally, people who apply for a promotion don't get fired. They get interviewed and told if they qualified or not. Perhaps that was the way the company told him he didn't get the job he applied for? I mean, if he was dealing with a 3rd world writing company, then they probably would not know the process by which a person who applied for a promotion is told he didn't get the job. They might have mistakenly fired him from his writer job in the process.

I think the OP eventually found another line of work to focus on. Being on complete bed rest for several months and working as an independent or company attached writer don't really mix. There may be times when she would have had to get out of bed to complete some research requirements that did not come up originally so this may not have been the kind of work she expected to do. Being a graduate student, she would have had actual work from home options in line with an actual career, which would prove to be more lucrative than just churning out academic papers from time to time.

An Essay Progressive Delivery program isn't worth participating in. It will only result in a paper that isn't even halfway done by the time the deadline rolls around. Submitting the paper in parts to the student means that the revisions will also be done in parts. The writer will spend more time explaining what he wrote and why, since the paper isn't completed yet. This type of service is only for paranoid clients who don't trust that the writer they hired can complete the task. In which case, one would have to ask, why did you hire the writer in the first place? Wait for the completed paper so you can read the full content and get a clear idea of what the writer was driving at in the research piece. That would be a lot easier to understand than constantly asking for clarifications based on partially completed work.

Having a network channel is actually helpful in this line of work. Writers can only go so far when writing a technical paper. While the writer may have a background in the subject, actually having someone who is better versed on the topic will do wonders for the paper he is writing. I believe that @WriteReview only meant that the extended contacts of a writer can help add to the quality of the paper being prepared for the client. It is always best to get a second opinion, before submitting the paper to the client. A second opinion from someone in the network could actually help reduce the risk of the paper coming back for a revision. It is always best to find the weak points in the paper beforehand and fix it. Consider it something like Peer Review for Writers. It would be better to revise and correct based on friendly advice rather than having a screaming client demanding a refund while you try to fix the paper.

This sounds like a company that wanted to get on the same bandwagon as that other site. Oh! I can't remember the name at the moment! What I do remember is that the website would attend classes for students, take the exams, and also work on projects and other course requirements for a hefty fee. What was it called again? Anyway, I believe that this website was set up as a scam. Based on their site presentation, I really do not believe that they have any writer on staff that could help out the student in the manner described. Never hire a writer from a company that has such horrible copy for its website. If you do, then you deserve what's coming to you.
