My guess is that they don't want to admit to anybody that they didn't write those projects

I find this to be true as well. I wish that I had more referrals from past clients, but having repeat customers is sufficient enough for me to sustain my work in the long-run. It's difficult to get students to openly admit that they have sought your service, especially because there's a lot of pessimistic opinion regarding the usage of essay writing services (regardless of the intention of the use, of course). At the end of the day, it's useful to have clients who still trust you to produce their work for them.

I find that walking around and stretching really helps. Because the amount of research that's constantly being done is quite troublesome, I ensure that I keep myself at bay by walking around from time to time. It also helps when I move around with my laptop. Having a generally relaxing atmosphere also helps me increase my general productiveness.

It's also even more troublesome when these students have genuine concerns as to why they are unable to fulfill these requirements. When the students come from a truly concerning place that are upfront about their academic dilemmas and troubles, they deserve to be treated with utmost respect about their decision to come to the essay writing service or company.

@FreelanceWriter
That kinda feels like the sad reality of this thread. A lot of these Chinese international students come from a place of desire. They want to be able to be fluent in the language in order to maximize their career potentials - only to realize that it's a treacherous road to partake in. Because of this, students become desperate. Most international students spend huge amounts of money studying in these English-speaking countries, therefore there's generally a lot of pressure to not perform well. Even more so, it does not help that, if they were doing the courses in their native tongues, they would ultimately be outstanding learners. But because it's in a second language, they struggle a lot more.

They are smart enough to seek help.

This is one thing that I truly admire about some of the students that I've worked with in the past. I've found that some of them admitted that they're quite closed-off with the idea of seeking the service. But because they are fully aware and know that it is not in their best interest to even attempt to accomplish everything on their own, they go ahead and try it out. It works out for the most part.

For whatever it's worth, the legit American companies don't cheat or deceive their customers

This not only goes for American companies. Any company that's legitimate in this industry would not even dare to deceive their customers. This is especially because the costs are too high. It can ruin a company's long-term reputation, affecting the overall sustainability of the business.

What is bothersome, at times, is the fact that there have been instances wherein I have encountered clients who would cite the service that they need as an editing service when, in fact, they actually required genuine writing. They have jotted down that they needed a slight bit of work done on a five-page essay - but the work is so extensive that it would result to multiple added pages to a required paper. In this instance, I have made it a point to approach the client with ease to ensure that we are on the same pace regarding the entirety of the content.

The location of the writer truly does not matter regardless of the situation. For as long as the writer is compliant with ethical standards and know how to conduct himself in the forum (or even in his own workplace), then there's no point arguing about the logistics of it all. Being country-based is not equitable to having racist impositions.

I often find that academic writers have an extensive preference to be referred to (alternatively) as ghost writers. In ghostwriting, you simply do not own any rights of acquiring the work because you've accomplished the task precisely for the client. Because of this, you're technically ghostwriting when you're doing academic writing. There's no thin line as the line does not exist. You can use both bylines if you're introducing yourself as a writer in the industry.

That is why I do not hesitate to employ 3rd world writers who can prove that they have native English language abilities.

This is such a nice way to treat the situation. I find that what's worrisome is that some companies evade all non-native speakers. They do not account for the fact that some of these writers are even more cautious of the way that they construct their sentences because they seek to provide only the best for the company. Because of this, the writers tend to be perfectionists in their usage of the language. There will be some tugging, considering that certain idiosyncrasies cannot fully be comprehended by a non-native speaker. Regardless, giving them the mere opportunity is important.

I agree with the others here. A photographic ID is not a red flag, but having to provide a bank card is. There's no need for any company to have information regarding your banking details for as long as they have successfully received a payment. Ensure that your transactions are always secured at all times. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

The idea is to get the student to "read" the "blog".

I find this to be true even until this day. It is also quite a smart way to approach advertising essay writing sites. With the crackdown of the sites, companies have resorted to these subtle and yet effective methods of showing people that they exist. It is good that trustworthy sites often already have an established client base. This makes it easier for them to go long without having the need to excessively advertise their products.

some of the more difficult projects may linger long enough that their requested due dates come and go without the order ever having been taken by any writer

I have witnessed this happen multiple times in various platforms that I've worked for. It makes me wonder how the logistics go - and how far these automated companies can go, especially because they are given little time to work with. I've seen complex analytical essays become neglected in these platforms regardless of how high the price that a company would set it for. Truly, writers are often afraid of partaking in these niche-specific essays because there's more vulnerability to creating low quality work. Nonetheless, I think that both definitely have their pros and cons. It would be up to the client where he would be comfortable spending his money on. If urgency is critical and the paper is a simple project, essay writing sites may be a decent choice. If there's no urgency, then it is possible to stick with truly verified independent writers to ensure the quality of work. It's all a bargain, honestly.

because they can't write as well as a professional writer.

This is genuinely true. In my opinion, it's more commonplace to have the situation the other way around. I have encountered students who asked me precisely to finish their papers for them as they needed additional research alongside wanting a more professional outlook for their writing. Maybe it's due to my lack of experience working in the industry for only a few years now, but I have yet to experience a client who would outright ask me to create a model essay to work with. Maybe if I gave it a bit more time, I'd be able to reach that level. For now, I can't say much about it.

I write whatever they order.

This is fundamentally the mindset I have either. At the end of the day, it's all just work for writers. It doesn't matter to me how the clients wish to use the paper I've worked on. What's important is that they give me decent guidelines, show me that the work I am doing is truthfully beneficial for them, and just straight up pay me on time. Everything else is quite a useless discussion. (Although, admittedly, I'd love to have an open conversation about the situation)

Students who cannot make up their mind about the actual format of the paper.

I was pleasantly surprised with the number of clients whom I encountered had this concern. I thought it wasn't a thing, but there actually a handful of clients who had to tell me last minute to revise the formatting of the paper because they were wrong in the beginning. While this does not specifically take a long time (not unless it was a hefty twenty-page paper), it's still laborious and time-consuming. People should really make up their minds.

If certain sentences sound like the use of particular words seem forced, then that company is more concerned with Adwords and search engine rankings than anything else.

This, I find, is generally true across the board when it comes to essay writing sites. I find that when you google these sites, the first ones that come in front of the search engine often come from scam-related sources. Evade using these types of sites, especially because you know that they're writing mills that could care less about the quality of the papers that they're producing. Always do intensive research on the companies you seek to write for.

As far as I know, the tax part is handled on the writers end independently.

A good reminder for writers. Wherever you are located as a freelancer, you are bounded and obligated to fulfill your own legal duties as a contractor. Companies that hire you do not have the responsibility to do this at all costs. The most they can do is remind you of your responsibilities - the rest is, of course, up to you to fulfill in the long-run.

This makes sense. Also, this makes me wonder about the legitimacy of sites that are solely based in African countries. These sites even often hide under the pretense that they're from a western country, knowing that creating that notion around the site would bring in more customers. I agree that, while there is much debate on the capacities of ESL writers, it requires extensive testing to truly figure out if these writers are helpful in the long-run. You would much rather stick with locals. Even I, as an ESL writer, agree so.

The flip side, if you can afford to give them a little extra to show what you can do, you have likely gained a long-term repeat client.

This is true even in my situation. There's one platform, in particular, that I work wherein the site specifically told me that I should give in to the small favors from the client because it'll make them enticed to work with me again. They were right. After giving half a page extra to one client, he came to me again for a ten-page paper. These things definitely give back to you - however, of course, the situation is not applicable in a blanket manner. Not all clients will turn into long-term repeat ones. But the thought counts. And if you're short on money and want consistent work, the extra mile counts.

Working for companies has now made me absent-minded when it comes to seeking appreciation or approval. Even if I did get a verbal confirmation that the work I've done is great, I would still typically want more of a financial compensation for the work. Maybe it's just my mindset - but these types of motivation (even when I had asked friends in the same field, they agreed to this sentiment) are the most beneficial and effective.

Only unexpected revisions occasionally increase pressure on a writer who had a planned schedule of what to deliver on.

This is particularly true. In all situations, writers have full control over the volume of work that they're receiving. I've had difficulties before wherein I was unable to deliver as effectively and speedy as possible because I tried to acquire so many orders within a such a short period of time (influx of work came in the site which pressured me to accept as many as I can because there was a huge drought in the number of orders beforehand). Afterwards, most of the difficulties I encountered were because I had multiple clients asking for revisions at the same time and within the same time frames. All of these could have been avoided if I had simply been more careful.

This is perhaps precisely the reason why I am afraid of going 100% freelance or independent. The carefree freedom that I acquire by working with sites or platforms is that they often are able to secure payments for myself. If you are able to find the right platform with empathetic people, they recognize your efforts as a writer, especially if you're working long-term with them. Because of this, I find that (in a few years of experience) I've never had negative experiences when it comes to delayed payments. Should a writer seek a client independently (or vice versa), upfront payments are reasonable at all costs.

Freelance writing in this field has certainly taught me how to self-regulate my stress levels throughout time. I find that most of the content written here are true - and I've found to be applicable in most cases. In particular, I find that the quality of my work is enhanced when I learn to take small breaks in between of writing sessions. Before, I used to go through hours-long writing marathons just to fulfill the requirements that were set on me. When I finished, I often would find so many small mishaps spread throughout my writing. This definitely does not help me. Because of this, I find that trying to set a reasonable standard, ensuring that I am well-rested prior to everything, and capitalizing on my productive hours were all better than trying to overly dump myself with immense stress. We have to set reasonable standards for ourselves truly.

This is such great writing. One of the fundamental mistakes that freelance writers commit is letting ourselves get to a stage of being burned out. We should allow ourselves to take breaks. While it can be tempting to continuously work, especially because you're working confined within the workplace setting (as work becomes equitable to home), we should consistently allocate spaces that would allow ourselves to breathe better. Once we can establish this separation, we can become more productive when it's time for us to crunch in words. Finances can wait for as long as you are mentally alright at the moment.

Any site that would provoke racist sentiments among its users and writers should be shut down. Whether or not the commentaries on this thread are true, it doesn't matter. Sadly, sites are autonomous and can make decisions in accordance to how they think they can enhance the profitability of their company. It's all for the company's sake at the end of it all.

I also agree that this is insane. It's idealistic to presume that people would want their identities disclosed in this career path (or students). Even the slightest chance of getting caught is quite risky, especially with all the controversies that have arose nowadays due to the business.

That's true even from my experience. I had previously worked for a platform where the company reviewed maybe just three out of around 40 works I finished at that time. It seemed also that because they were satisfied with the first review, they no longer found the need to constantly be on my back to "track" my performance in the long-run.

I never actually thought I'd encounter clients like this. But it turns out to be more commonplace than imagined. I was unaware that some people would purposely ask me to dumb down my language in order to "fit" their standards more. True, but mainly because potential employers over-value degrees.

This makes a lot of sense. Having a degree does not necessarily mean that you are competent in the field. It only means that you were able to attain the bare minimum in order to gather the certification. Having/testing out the skills would still be a necessary step to ensure that a person is truly capable in the field.

Anyway, I'd try word of mouth marketing.

Agree with this. If you're planning to setup an academic writing site, try to focus more on testimonials. If you're willing to, try to reach out to people you already know if they're academically struggling (or just in general struggling to keep up with their grades). Trying to focus more on these firm and substantial commentaries are more beneficial than anything else.

The problem is that many customers procrastinate.

I can tell you how many times this has happened already even for my case. I've handled so many clients who, on the last minute, suddenly want to drop a multitude of revisions and/or changes that are needed to be done. Clients have to understand that making quality papers cannot be achieved within short time frames, especially if you're working with complex subjects.

Unless it's been a long time, I am generally happy to make reasonable changes for my clients.

This seems more like a reasonable approach to the situation. Personally, as a writer, I can never justify sites that would accommodate to unlimited revisions. In my experience, websites that offer these types of services can often by sketchy - to say the least. There's also no reason for them to justify these things, especially because people wouldn't need the revisions if the quality is substantive already in the first place.

No experience is not a game changer, but experience is definitely a positive.

Experience in legal writing is so critical for the quality of the paper. Even when you send in guidelines to an experienced writer, there's always a little bit more friction if it would be the writer's first time to handle such a complex field. Assuming that a student has the finances to fund the paper and definitively takes his grades seriously, paying that little bit of extra to have assured high-quality output would be beneficial for him in the long-run. There's no cheapening out when it comes to handling such an extensive degree.

what these types of "guarantees" suggest is that the company is willing to make totally fraudulent promises just to get their hands on your money.

Working with these guarantees is quite stressful as well from various viewpoints; I cannot fully comprehend why it would be alright for any writer to work in these types of platforms because of the lack of security. If you truly consider the field as a constant source of income, I have no idea why you would be alright with working with a company that does not guarantee long-term success. The desperation reeks.

This line makes me wonder how this truly would function. I have yet to come across a platform that would outwardly and extensively revise a work before it becomes visible to a client. I have noticed that these companies often prefer that you have direct interaction with the client. Maybe I'm in the wrong?

The income fluctuates with the academic season and the deadlines can be brutal for some writers.

This is the harsh reality of the field that is not necessarily considered by others. But it does have its perks. You have more free time to indulge in during the summer or winter breaks. You also get a steady hold of your income during academic seasons, making you expect a certain amount of money flow within a specific period. This helps people (even I) in budgeting for upcoming rainy days.
