Writer Money TransferAs someone who employs writers directly, I have explained to them that they need to pay for the bank transfer fees because I am the business owner and I need to make sure my profits are not cut into.

Additionally, I maintain the system that they are working on so I should receive a larger share of the profits.

The bank transfer fees are part and parcel of their work investment. It's the closest some of them get to paying a "tax" on their underground income and in most cases, the transfer fee is negligible so they agree to swallow that cost.

I already pay a processing fee on my end every time I pay out to them so the least they can do is accept the transfer fees on their end.

When a writer complains about the transfer fee to me, I simply tell the person that there is no contract binding our working relationship so the writer is free to seek employment elsewhere.

Since I pay on time and I do not penalize my writers unless absolutely necessary, they tend to stay on and pay the fees without additional questions.

The decent grades come with the determination of a client to produce the best paper that they can. I have had clients come to me asking if I could work on a model paper for them but, they make it clear that I should only provide X amount of information in the almost finalized form of the paper because they want to add their own touch to the research paper or essay. By leaving the paper merely completed instead of totally completed, the client has the chance to add some information taken from class lectures and other sources such as their class reading material. As such, they can further improve the paper on their own. My job, was simply to get the paper started on the track of getting a good grade. The student took the paper home, resulting in not only a decent mark, but a higher than average mark for himself in most instances.

My question is, why would a writer submit the completed paper to the client without receiving the full payment first? If you released the paper without full payment then you asked to be scammed. No writer should be so trusting of a client that you would give up your ace just like that. Even if you have the complete contact details of the client, I doubt you could do anything with it. You can't convince the university to give you the time of day and contacting the professor won't do you any good either.

Just consider what happened a learning experience. You should know better next time. Don't give up the very reason why you were hired in the first place. Not without a completed payment deal. It's easy, hold on to the paper and the client will pay you a day before the paper is due. That is how I successfully collected from most of my problem clients. After that deal, I never worked with that person again. Yes, writers should have a blacklist of problem clients. It's the best way to protect ourselves from abuse.

Since there is a crackdown on actual advertising from these companies in the search engines, the companies that own them have gotten creative when it comes to advertising. They don't advertise directly as they would get booted out of the system anyway. These days they advertise in the form of "blogs" which are written with specific keywords to allow the search engines to find the blog article. The idea is to get the student to "read" the "blog" which ends up directing them to a "Service" page at the end of the article. By working around the AI system of the search engine, the company manages to advertise hundreds of times without having to pay a cent. So the crackdown has served to be beneficial to the writing company, who now does not have to directly pay for advertising through the search engine or social media accounts.

The third rate academic outsourcing companies are the ones that claim to have a "QAD". I have known of one Ukrainian company that has a QAD composed of the unemployed relatives of the owner. These are his uncles, cousins, friends, nephews, nieces, and anyone else in the family who is too lazy to get out and get a real job. Why do that when they can pretend to be employed in a profession, through a relative, and collect their salary by simply pretending to know anything about the English language? Since they rely mostly on Copyscape for their proof-reading, they don't even bother to check if the program is functioning properly or not. I mean, nothing beats a human review of a research paper right? So these non-English speaking idiots penalize the writer for stupid reasons such as using the word "the" in a paragraph repeatedly which we all know is fine since that is the basic connecting word of the English language. Not for them though. They penalize the writer for the dumbest and most illogical reasons stemming from the review of an automated system. That is why I am of the opinion that they haven't the faintest idea what "quality" means when it comes to their profession.

Never give up a copy of your ID or bank account information to anybody. Most specially an unknown person on the web. That is what Paypal and other identity protective forms of payment are for. They don't need to prove who you are as long as you pay them. There is no reason for them to ask for identification unless they have a negative intention to use the information they hope you will provide. A writing service doesn't need to confirm anything with you except the deadline for your paper and the instructions for the writer. Nothing more, nothing less.

A company that cannot prove its location when asked is questionable. A truly reliable writing company registered in the UK will be able to provide their business papers when asked. Although why a potential client would ask for that is beyond me. After all, they could just make the registration papers up as well.

Any problems that I had with being an academic ghost writer mostly related to payment collections. It was easy when I was just starting out and I could knock on my dorm mate/client's door, hand over the paper and get the payment immediately. Left hand, right hand. We were both happy. When I branched out to writing for online students, I would receive a down payment and then have to track them down for the rest of the amount owed. Since I never handed over the paper without a full payment received, This meant that I would often end up with only half a payment for a 50 page order if the client asked for the paper without handing over the full payment first.

When I began hiring my own set of writers, I ended up doing the QA for their work, which meant that there were times when I had to correct the paper myself and penalize the writer for being sloppy, regardless of how small the infraction was. I needed to take a cut since I basically helped to write the final version of the paper. I guess that comes with the territory though. At least I was doing less writing already which I found to be more tiresome than proofreading the paper as my writers completed the orders.

The reason only negative reviews are seen at this forum, although positive reviews are also accepted and recommended, is because this place serves to warn the students about the bad apples in the writing industry. Both the companies and the freelance writers have good and bad sides. The ones that do good, do not require publicity. The ones who are bad are the more popular ones whom the students need to be warned about.

The students who come here have two reasons for doing so: (1) to shop around for a trustworthy company or freelance writer and (2) to learn who they should not trust. That is why this forum has a DND list, which means those companies are questionable since they take offense at being discussed at this site. If the company isn't listed or the writer doesn't have bad reviews, then the student can proceed to investigate. The trust factor cannot be through recommendations. That is something the company or writer must earn from the client.

General Talk / are these reporters for real? [19]

No reputable journalist would come to a public forum looking for information sources. Anybody who does that is definitely part of the "fake news" squad and should not be trusted. They are most likely identity thieves or scumbags looking for potential blackmail victims. Even company representatives would not go that far in promoting their services. These people do not have any legitimate reporter credentials at all and anybody who believes the con is in for a massive amount of trouble in the future.

Seasoned journalists know to keep a low profile, investigate on the sly, and use sources that don't need to be found in a public place. They are not stupid people and anyone who poses as a journalist but uses public forums to gain information isn't even a wannabe, he is a nobody and should not be trusted. The internet is full enough of criminals who are difficult to spot because of the anonymity of the internet. So if someone comes claiming to be something but can't prove it, call their bluff. Make them prove their claims before you cooperate, if at all.

General Talk / Why students get scammed. [60]

From my experience, the students who get scammed actually end up in that situation because they are running on a deadline. They forgot that they need the paper done by a certain time and by the time they remember the assignment, its too late for them to be picky about the service they will be hiring. They will hire the first service that comes cheaply and assures them that they will get a 100 % original paper before the deadline. These assurances are music to the student's ears so they pretty much get sold on the company or writer without looking for evidence that they can deliver on their promises. Let's face it, in this business, everything is based on a trust factor. The more trust the student has in a service, the easier it will be to get the student to sign up. That is why they get scammed. By nature, students tend to trust people without basis because they have yet to learn that trust must be earned instead of given freely. That is why the minute the student gets scammed, he learns a hard lesson regarding trusting people.

I do not believe that being born in the U.S or the UK is the main qualification for being an excellent academic writer. I have known people from both countries, who are not necessarily academic writers, who can barely speak Uncle Sam's version of the Queen's English. They butcher both languages in terms of spelling and word usage all the time. Getting away with it mostly because, they were born in the country so everyone has to assume that they speak and write in the language properly, which isn't always the case.

If a foreign country based student attends an international school where the mode of teaching is either British or American English and they receive international lessons as well at the academic institution, expect that person to be almost native speaker in both spoken and written abilities. That person will also have an international mindset that will make him an excellent academic writer. Sometimes even better than those who are born in the aforementioned countries because they actually take the time to study the language properly whereas those born in the native English speaking countries tend to get lazy and not really care about how they speak or write as the teachers will always make allowances for their laziness.

That is why I do not hesitate to employ 3rd world writers who can prove that they have native English language abilities. While the majority of my staff are born and bred in the UK and the US, I believe in giving 3rd world writers with the proper and provable English abilities and relevant educational backgrounds a chance to compete with the native speaking writers. It delivers a healthy competition among my ranks of employees.

I believe that the OP no longer pursued the advice given here because of fear that the situation might become worse. I can understand why the student would be worried and afraid of the repercussions of the actions taken on both sides but, I firmly believe that the writer never intended to complete the paper as instructed and instead, was really out to blackmail the student. Unfortunately, the student did not have the sense to recognize the scam before it went too far. I can only hope that the client did not pay the writer the blackmail money and that the writer eventually went on to his next victim, allowing this student to complete the semester in peace. These criminal writers keep doing what they are doing because the students pay them off in fear. There is nothing to fear from these scumbags. They can't do what they are threatening and will never succeed. They will be confined to the swamp that they exist in for the rest of their lives and eventually, will pay for the crimes they have done.

@Smiley73 I totally agree with what you said here. I believe that the OP was trying to fish for information from the users of this forum. Maybe he wanted the information for black purposes or maybe he was really honest and he just wanted people to share their experiences in this particular thread. It is also highly possible that he wasn't familiar with the forum rules about redundant topics. Since the moderators let this thread stay in the active threads section, then perhaps even the forum owners see some benefit to keeping this thread active. I for one am glad that there is a thread like this one to help remind the current users of the forum, or inform the new users about why they are here and what the purpose of the forum is. Posting in this thread and sharing user experiences can't hurt. It would be good to keep this thread going for everyone concerned.

If you feel like there is no one you can trust to work on your paper, then the solution is simple. Write the 50 page paper yourself. There is nothing in the academic rules preventing you from doing that. In fact, it is encouraged by all the universities and colleges worldwide. That way you won't breach the trust of your school, nor your student oath of honor. You will also learn the lesson better since you will actually be doing the research and writing of the paper yourself. There is a true learning experience involved in the research process for you.

However, if you want to take a chance on a writer or company representative at this forum, then use the vetted people and companies. You have less of a stress factor in such instances because the background check on the company has been done for you. You know you can trust them because we say you can trust them. That's all you want right? The assurance that the company or writer can deliver? Rest assured that is what the vetted company and writer can deliver for you.

Getting writer accounts these days are all dependent on the number of companies a writer is already affiliated with. Since the academic writing business is trying to "consolidate" their number of companies existing as websites, they tend to be more careful when hiring writers. You may not know it but the company you are applying to is an affiliate of the company you are already working for. Which makes it more difficult to get writing accounts.

There is no easy way of getting accounts these days unless you are willing to pay for someone else's account and assume that person's total identify. Yep. There are some desperate wanna be writers out there who would engage in identity fraud just to get a writing account. Don't be one of those writers. If you are already working for one or two companies, be satisfied. Don't try to get more writing companies into your portfolio since you may not be able to work for all of them anyway.

It may not be right for the OP to be asking for recommendations for writing services at this forum. For one, the independent writers and company representatives will put their best foot forward to get the business, but that won't necessarily translate into a successful transaction. There are still some scam artists masquerading as independent writers here. Those are the ones who don't sign up for the vetting services of this forum. Beware of any writer or company not fully investigated by the owners of this forum. Deal with them with the knowledge that they are not recommended by this site in terms of quality, responsibility, and trustworthiness.

Aside from that, recommendations tend to go south when a student merely takes the word of someone he doesn't know, such is the case for this post, just to get a reference for a writing company. What is the student actually looking for? A good quality writer or company or somebody with a discount code for one of those more questionable places where the paper could be merely cut and paste information from other sites?

There are dangers to asking for recommendations in a public place. That's how you end up getting scammed.

It seems to me like the OP blew this situation out of proportion. What with his not taking the company's word for it and filing a dispute with his credit card company before a reasonable waiting period for the refund had passed, it would seem like this student was just out for revenge, aside from his refund. Why did he never indicate if he received that refund? Was it because he got the refund but just wanted to harass the company somehow? The attitude of this student really sounds like he is a professional writing service user because he knew exactly what to do upon receiving the document. Something just doesn't sound right in his declarations for me to take his statement as a full truth. There are some missing elements such as what he did with the paper upon figuring out it was plagiarized, a decent student would have gone and written the paper himself. In this case, I believe that he was hellbent on getting the refund quickly because he hired another company or another writer to complete the work for him.

General Talk / Want to buy a writing website [19]

Research WebsiteI'm not sure if the OP eventually found an academic writing website to buy.

I am not comfortable buying an already existing business whose problems may be deeper than I was told during the negotiation process. Buying an academic writing business is not as easy as it might sound to most.

The business tends to carry a lot of excess baggage specially in terms of back pay to the writing staff. The back end people may get regular salaries but the writers, they are the ones normally calling for a mutiny which often leads to the business being sold. If the original owners could not meet the financial obligations of the company, it would not be a good idea to stick the new owner with the problem.

While the business may be lucrative in China, their business rules being more lenient when it comes to this sort of work, that still doesn't erase the fact that the company will have to deal with plagiarism and authorship rules when it comes to their overseas enrolled students.

So, if the company bought has a bad reputation, even changing the company name will not help the Chinese owners. The new company will suffer by association with the old company.

That is why I believe it would be better to set up your own website and hire a fresh set of writers. A clean slate and a clean name goes a long way in this business.

I have also heard of instances when the writers themselves are fraudulent. Conning the students whom they meet by freelance job platforms and promising the moon and the stars and not even delivering a glass of water to the client by the time the deadline comes around. These writers are often without a website to point to as a method of at least getting to know the writer and the type of work that is done by this person. Neither does the writer offer any other form of contact except via email. If a writer does not have any social media form of contact such as Messenger, Vibr, or WhatsApp, you tend to wonder why the writer won't talk to you. Is it because of the accent that will make the client hit the end call button even before the negotiations start? I think that this discussion should be expanded to fraudulent writer signs as well.

I agree with both of you. Trust in the writer and the quality of the writer are both important considerations for a student looking to start a long-time relationship with a particular writer. There is nothing worse than a writer who delivers sub par work to a client, causing the client undue stress and possibly a much lower grade than he had hoped for. Freelance writers are highly conscious of these two ultra important factors when it comes to their writing and have that at the forefront of their minds while writing papers. At least, freelance writers who want to stay in the business. Those who work for third rate companies fall under totally different quality considerations. They don't have any. Which is why it sometimes isn't worth it to hire a writer through a writing company. Direct access to the writer is normally the surest way to assure that the paper will be completed properly and with high quality writing standards. It also helps to build trust between the writer and the client.

It sounds to me like you were trying to use the free version of the converter software. No worries. There is no possibility that the conversion would result in a plagiarism problem on your end. The converter program doesn't file your pages nor does it keep it in a database for comparison purposes. All you did was go over the number of free pages allowed for conversion. Just divide the paper in half and do the conversion then. It should go through without a problem. Students are being taken over by a plagiarism paranoia these days. Not all programs that you use can and will lead to possible plagiarism. Besides, if you are sure you can prove the authorship of the paper, I don't see what you have to worry about. Just know that if you approach the paper submission with a clear conscience, then you have nothing to fear.

From my experience, it is very easy to find writers for a new essay writing company. Provided you treat your writers well and pay them fairly, you shouldn't have a problem. Since your website is already nearing completion, or perhaps by this time, has already launched, then you can source your writers directly from your website. Just make sure to have a Writer's Application Form embedded into the site along with your writer requirements so that any writer looking for a job won't have a hard time getting in touch with you as an applicant.

Don't forget that you need to advertise your company just the same to recruit writers. Advertising via Instagram and Facebook often works best. In addition to your website, getting a company site at FB would also help you source your writing staff. Just make sure you advertise under FB's jobs advertisement so that you can direct your advertising at your target audience.

Using these methods should get you a few nibbles and maybe a few actual hires over a period of time. Don't forget that your own social circle and student hang outs can provide you with part time writers as well. Don't hesitate to use the old fashioned "post and ad" method of finding part time and full time writers, you never know where they might come from.

In fact, I sincerely doubt you have a future in the writing business at all. Let's get one thing straight right now. The reason that people are not allowed to make recommendations in the postings are really simple, it is to prevent a bloodbath from occurring within the threads as the writers and company reps vie for the business from the clients. By allowing only the forum owners to endorse certain writers and companies in the above thread, the situation is kept under control. Students will clearly see that there are endorsed sites and writers, all vetted and guaranteed to work well with any potential client. Allowing the clients to directly contact the writers and companies in private, by a simple click on the profile link resolves any potential and unwarranted battles for client supremacy in any thread.

Again, the only recommendations that are allowed here are the ones that have been vetted by the owners of this forum. That said, feel free to contact any of the writers here so that they can get your business. Just remember when you hire any writer or company that isn't part of the reviewed list, you do so at your own risk. The forum doesn't endorse any other entities for work with the students.

I can only assess the year level demographic of my client because of the assigned work. I used to get several writing assignments from parents of high schoolers or college freshmen who needed help getting their kids started on the correct writing path. Again, no gender assigned so no client gender demographics could be taken. It is enough for me to know that I had regular clients during the year, regardless of the gender. It's just like any other industry. The students complain that they are being scammed when they are the ones who are violating the academic standards of their institutions in the first place. They claim that they really need help in order to keep abreast of their academic work and yet, they are careless when it comes to choosing the right service for their needs. Let's put it this way, for every service required, there is always someone ready and willing to run a scam. The students know this and they choose to ignore that fact.

let's also not forget that the students are the first scammers in this scenario since they are willing to violate the ethical code of their university through contract cheating. By not working on the paper themselves, they admit that they are willing to be scammed. By hiring a 3rd rate writer or writing company, they are begging to be scammed. So it would appear that they actually have no right to complain about being scammed in the first place.

I agree with @Smiley73. At this point, the people in the know when it comes to the academic writing business, those are the same people behind this forum, should be trusted to help students choose the service or writer that would best suit their needs. That is precisely why the banner for this forum now includes a highlighted checkmark that indicates "Reviewed" for the sites, services, and writers advertising or participating at this forum. If there is a question about whose service is on the level or which writer to trust, this forum offers more than one way to be assured of that. So yes, if someone were to ask me, I would suggest that he goes with either a company or writer recommended by this forum. There is no chance of going wrong because the company or person has already been vetted and has a proven track record of service at this forum.

I think the OP is mistaken. The discussions at this forum are not based on racism. Rather it is based on questionable work ethics of academic writers coming out of certain third world countries. The fact that the countries being mentioned are third world does not immediately indicate racism. It merely indicates incompetence on the part of the writer and business owner from that region of the world. The OP somehow managed to confuse himself with regards to the meaning of racism and incompetence. It is the incompetence of these writers that are mentioned in great / vivid detail within the threads at this forum.

Nobody here judges the writers based on race. The judgements are based on client work experiences with writers from these countries, and the way that these writers participate in these forums discussion threads. There is nothing racist about that. So the OP was wrong to assume that racism is taking over the writing profession. As long as a writer provides the client's needs, regardless of where he is from, then he won't be judged negatively by the client and the participants here.

While I understand that it might be permissible since it was posted under Essay Services, I still think that giving people a list of options is wrong. A network is no different from what EssayScam offers, which is a place for people to connect with one another and hire services (privately). I am not sure about how those networks function but, if it functions in a manner similar to ES, then that OP just posted an endorsement of the competition, which should never be allowed. General Talk / TurnItIn is stealing our work? [17]

Technically, Turnitin isn't stealing the OP's work as a writer because he was supposed to have turned over all rights to that paper to the student upon completion and submission of the final written product. So it is the student whose "original work" is loaded to the Turnitin server / database. So if the student isn't complaining, then the OP shouldn't complain either. After all, he was already paid big bucks for the job. Students may not even consciously know that their work is being "stored", as turnitin does not admit to stealing anything from the student, by the company because, in most instances, it is the teacher who loads the paper for plagiarism checking. The teachers pay to have these essays stored on the system for future use, which is why there is actually no "stealing" that is taking place. The papers are stored with the approval of the teachers and their conscious knowledge that the papers will be used as part of a wide anti-plagiarism database.

Turnitin Authorship Investigations

High-School ProfessorApparently turnitin has gotten wind of how professors often suspect that a student may have plagiarized a paper or purchased the paper from a third party source.

Since the professors are apprehensive about filing charges due to their sense of having insufficient evidence with which to charge the student, the professor oftentimes just lets the student go scot free.

It seems that Turnitin has developed a solution to that problem through their Authorship Investigation program which is designed to combat "contract cheating" by proving that the student is not the original author of the paper.

While I am still vague as to how Turnitin can accomplish this task, I believe that they just might be on to something here because of the tremendous size of their previously written papers database.

Comparison writing software could be created to help with this investigation aside from their already existing plagiarism software.

While I am not afraid of what the repercussion of this might be for students and writers, since I have evolved from the academic writing business, I am interested to find out if the company can actually pull this off.

Proofreading and editing services are a dime a dozen on the web. All of them claim to be professional and good at their jobs. I can't understand why these students automatically go for the "spending" aspect of proofreading and editing when all of the encoding software these days come with highly capable proofreading and editing services bundled into it. I often recommend that students upgrade to MS Word. Specifically the Windows 10 bundled version because it can make even an ESL student look like he has improved his writing skills.

While it is not the perfect program, only an ENL speaker / writer can produce such a paper, the system at least helps the student present his work "to the best of his writing abilities" with the aid of a software, something that his professor will not frown upon. He not only gets a free grammar and sentence structure lecture during the checking process, but he also gets to improve his language skills in the process.

The program does it all, making suggestions where necessary so all the student has to do is click on the correct format in order to improve the presentation of his paper. It's simple, fast, and almost free. A subscription to the service is required. If an ESL student is serious about writing his paper on his own, he won't mind paying for it.

The thing is, Paypal isn't in the business of settling disputes for "unclear" transactions such as an order for an academic paper. A Paypal dispute can only be opened if (1) the item is not delivered or (2) the item delivered is defective and the seller refuses to replace it and (3) The item delivered is not what was expected. When it comes to academic papers, Paypal does not consider this a mainstream transaction so they don't really know how to handle it.

A paper is an item, it was ordered and delivered. The student did not get the paper that he expected. However, it is a paper that is aligned with the topic of his professor's assignment. How can Paypal deal with such a dispute when the resolution to the case is not a change of item but a revision? Don't forget that Paypal disputes are normally automated and is left between the seller and the buyer to resolve. While Paypal normally sides with the buyer in disputes, in this case, the system isn't exactly sure how to settle it.

It would be best for the client and company to solve this problem one on one and just leave Paypal out of it. The subject in question isn't exactly a topic that the buyer would like to have reach certain ears if he continues with the dispute. If someone in the university finds out, he may have a problem in his hands.

It would seem to me that this trend is continuing in 2015. My academic writing company affiliated friends have been reporting a steady decline in their client base and work turn around since the start of the academic year. I am thinking that this is because the students are opting to cut out the middle man and hire the writer directly instead. I've not have a decline in my company hiring this season and I am a one person writing machine. If I feel sorry enough for a friend of mine, I throw a bone -- client or two to help them get through the month and meet their financial obligations. If a writer insists in remaining with a writing company and doesn't get a fixed salary for it then there is no way he can claim to be financially free as a freelance writer. All he will get is a continuous decline in writing orders as the years pass.

As these websites become increasingly adept with masking their actual locations and also manage to get some decent writers onboard sometimes, it becomes ever more difficult for a client to pinpoint a genuine site from a scam. Even a true US or UK based company could, if the owner has a criminal mind, run a scam company if he wishes to.

I am not saying that there are scam companies in the US and the UK, I am just saying that it could exist if the moment were just right for a certain type of individual. So you can't really tell. That is why I would rather not focus on the percentage of genuine sites but rather, focus on the number of websites that can actually deliver as promised. As long as the company understands the paper requirements and they have a writer who can deliver as promised or tasked to do so, then, for all intents and purposes, that company is genuine.

While it is easy for a client to prove that the company is a sham and is lying about its location, the client may not necessarily want to press any charges against the company. For one thing, where will be lawsuit be filed? If the client is in the USA and the company is claiming to the US based but investigations prove it is in Uganda, what then? Will the client go all the way to Uganda to file a suit? Exactly. It would just be frivolous lawsuit in that instance and no client would have the finances to take the company to court.

However, clients do not need to do that. The national government of the country where the company claims to be located normally ends up suing these con artists on behalf of the clients once they get enough evidence to file suit. So while the company may get away with the con for a while, they won't get away with it forever.

Oh my god! I cannot believe that this company continues to exist with this type of business model. This is a total sham and they pose a danger to their clients who do not agree to conduct business their way. While this site is tremendously popular for freelancers, it is obvious that they are just running a different type of scam. One that is admired the world over with global participants.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I for one will never sign up for that service either as a freelancer or as a contractor.

This stress and aggravation just isn't worth it. I think you should sue them and the writer. Would they give you the writer's private information? Nope. They will protect the criminal and punish the victim. It is sad that internet based businesses on the freelance side seem to function that way these days. It is extremely difficult to find reliable help online these days so when you do, stick with that service provider.

I guess it is different for each one of us working in this profession. Personally, I find value in the article provided because my personal physician advised me to regularly take time off from the academic freelance writing work in order to first, give my brain a rest, and second, allow my body to recharge since the work is quite demanding. After a serious illness almost sidelined me permanently, I acknowledged that my doctor was right and began scheduling regular rest periods.

At that time, I was taking weekend vacations and one long vacation once a year, usually during the holiday season when most of my student clients were off on vacation as well. I would take the whole week leading up to Christmas and a few days after the New Year to totally unplug and just rest. Yes, I did most of the things that is advised by the OP during that vacation period. Did I lose some income? Maybe, then again, I won't miss what I never had.

Now, because my business has evolved, I can accommodate one project and take a week or a month off after, spending money and still having money to spare for my retirement account. I am a healthier and more productive person because I choose to take a vacation every so often and yes, I am in the right line of work for myself as I am sure the other freelancer writers are.

I have always believed that students get scammed because they forget that the best recommendation for a writing service will always come from their peers. The academic writing industry in an open secret on all college and university campuses. Students admit to using these services in private. Therefore, they have ample experience, both good and bad, when it comes to these writing companies. These are information that they freely share with one another so there is no reason for any student to get scammed unless he goes in looking for a writing company or independent writer blindly.

Let's put it this way, nobody who asks for directions ever gets lost. Sure it might take him time to get to where he is going but the instructions and experiences of others that he can learn from by simply asking for referrals or follow up questions can help him get the writing help he needs sooner rather than later. So, you don't want to get scammed? Avoid it by asking for recommendations from your friends and classmates. They will always have a good writer or writing company to recommend to you.
