The student will always do well to use the chat feature of the website when he has specific requirements for his paper that cannot be considered by the automatic pricing software. The client assistant always has access to the full pricing considerations for special projects and can easily provide the correct price per page for the order and also, explain any additional pricing considerations that would affect the final cost of the paper.

General Talk / Plagiarism or NOT? Need help [11]

From what I gather, the student was going to use a totally different approach to writing the paper even though it would have been based on the same topic. I believe that provided he does not reuse information from the old paper, then there will not be any plagiarism involved in the development of his Powerpoint presentation. New information would be used, hence creating a totally different research paper for the student. Let's face it, there are so many papers written on the same topic all the time, but nobody ever accused the writers of plagiarism. Even when the writer updates his information on the given topic alone.

I think that @Freelancewritter would be the best person to give us an update on the amount that writers charge these days. Perhaps he would know the competitive rate that would possibly make the student opt for a human writer instead of an AI that comes for free or at a discounted subscription rate. It is still best to hire human writers but, it is important that they price themselves honestly because it is so easy to price yourself out of the market these days.

@Logg236 It is extremely important that you name names here to protect the others who do not have the information that you do. Give his real name, his alias / username, how you made contact with him, what his modus is. If his name is already on the list here, please post the thread link in this one so that it will be easier for us to identify him. Only by publishing his facts will you be able to add a layer of protection for yourself during this trying time.

The custom pre-written essay market has already died. Those sites died a long time ago. These days, students turn to AI for sample essay generation, case study samples, and everything in between. What does it cost them? Unless they are silly enough to actually pay for AI usage, Gemini will provide those stuff for free.

While you did make a mistake by opting to deal with the writer directly outside of the company confines, that does not mean that he can blackmail you. As long as you did not provide identifiable information to him regarding your school, professor, and class, he will not be able to do anything to harm you academically. In fact, he could just be calling your bluff a this point and he doesn't have any intention of following through on his threat because he does not have the means to do so. Most blackmailers are in that sort of position so ignoring him would be the best option in this case. Send all of his emails to the spam folder. Do not show fear. That shifts the balance of power to the blackmailer.

@FreelanceWriter The guys is a company representative. He is trying to sell their GED exam taker services to the students at this forum. Definitely a red flag since taking these tests have to be done in person or, if done remotely, the student needs to meet some safety and logging in requirements before he can take the test. While we cannot stop him from veiled advertising, the students must consider this service with open eyes an the knowledge that if they get caught cheating in this manner, then they can say goodbye to their educational future.

It appears that this thread is in bad need of updating. Students would laugh at the discussion that took place in this thread. AI has made writing their projects too easy these days. If the students these days need to learn anything, it is how to use AI responsibly so that they do not violate academic rules and regulations because they relied too much on the validity of the AI generated paper. While they are still taught how to write papers in school, I sincerely doubt that they are paying attention to those lessons. They are too busy learning how to use AI to make their academic life easier, on their own.

The price of the order should be kept confidential. Writer charges on depend not only on the page or number of words but also other considerations. That would be in relation to the reference materials required, technicality of the paper, and other possible client requests specific to the paper completion. That is why it is difficult to say exactly how much a writer would get per page. The most he may have received is not something that should also be made public because he might end up accidentally pricing himself out of the market.

A money back guarantee is specific. It is a credit to your account either in cash or in kind. That means, the money can be credit back to your credit card, in which case it will be credited as an advanced payment to your account by the company. If it is credited to your savings account because the payment was made by auto debit, then you will get the money back with some deductions, depending upon the arrangement of your bank with the money transfer services. It is never a credit to a company account for future use.

Theses days both students and teachers already cheat. The teachers rely on AI to generate their exams. The students, rely on AI to either answer the take home tests and research papers or, to create review test sheets and quiz cards for them. So cheating in the academe should not be a big deal anymore. Both sides cheat to a certain extent, whether they admit it or not.

I agree that the two companies must be related in a direct manner. They cannot be almost identical twins and not share the same DNA to a large extent. That is why there is such a thing as a "family face". If they look alike, chances are, they are related. So these companies must share a link somehow, perhaps in ownership and writing pool. They often do this to spin off one of the companies that has a negative image. By having a similarly sounding name with almost the same services, they hope to leave the negative image of the other name behind.

It is possible that something happened along the way that forced an otherwise honest writer to turn rogue. Maybe he suddenly came into need for money and saw this as the most opportune way to get what he needed. Assuming that the writer is actually from Kenya, we cannot really assess his location due to various masking methods like VPN and stuff, we can say that he changed the game by actually getting the student to give him confidence first, then striking with the con. It would not be impossible for him to do that. Although these days, a writer who does such a thing would never work again. It is because of the bad actors in the field that students are becoming more and more comfortable with using an AI writer instead.

I believe that when the writer or the company protects the ESL student, they protect the American counterparts at the same time. It is a given. What applies to one, applies to all. It cannot be selectively applied. Both students use academic writing services at some point and both are protected by the TOS of each company or independent writer. They get equal protection because they have equal status as students, regardless of their English skills. They are both enrolled in an English speaking school, regardless of the country. So yes, American students will be protected even though it is the ESL students that will have more of a benefit from the TOS indications.

The thing is, essay writing companies have a TOS that protects the students from these types of scams. If a student does not read the TOS of the company before hiring them, then they will not know about the fine prints included in the contract. That includes the company agreeing to not contacting your school or university because they created a model paper for you. There is no school that will accept their complaint. The school might refer it to the teacher in charge if there are enough grounds for an investigation, but schools do not normally give weight to anonymous reports from writing companies or people claiming to be from the department of education.

I agree that students need to know the difference between hiring a writer and hiring a writing tutor. A writing tutor is similar to a person that you would find at the writing center of your college or university. Their job is not to write the paper, but to guide the development of your paper and your writing skills.

If you have pretty decent research and writing skills, I would advise students to look into getting a writing tutor instead immediately turning to Ai or hiring a writer. Give it a go. See if you can write a pretty decent paper on your own. The sense of accomplishment you will gain from this experience is memorable and cannot be replaced by any Ai or hired writing experience.

General Talk / How best to scan my essay? [15]

Scanning your essay prior to submission is not the best interest of the student. Due to the advent of AI, Google has been storing your papers in its system to help teach its AI about student papers, the information contained, and how it is used. This is then used by Gemini / Chat GPT to generate other essay models on the same topic. It may or may not be credited by the AI should it use the information you provided. Either way, it will appear that you plagiarized your paper. So it is best to let the humans do the plagiarism scanning and detection, after you have submitted your paper to your professor.

Try to find a writing company that expressly transfers the intellectual property for the paper to you once it is delivered. Do not work with any essay writing company that keeps the rights for themselves. They plan to resell your paper and as such, could prove to be a problem for you down the road should it have been submitted by a student with only slight changes made to the original.

The OP did not provide enough information for us to deduce that the writer was actually at fault in this case. As expressly stated by the seasoned writers, there are specific formatting requirements, including the company word count per page, that should be considered when writing the paper. I once had a client who insisted on receiving a 1000 word essay in 2 pages. I told him that was impossible and no writer would be able to provide a properly written paper based on his specs (single spacing, font size 5, etc.) The company sided with me in this case and cancelled the order, asking the student to take his business elswhere. I never did find out if he got some idiot ESL writer to agree to his terms.

Authorship procedures can only work if the academic writer bothered to register his intellectual property at the proper office prior to sending it off to his client. I do not believe any writer would bother to do that and I do not believe that that the intellectual property office would accept such an appliccation. So that claim made by the OP is so far fetched, it is not set in reality. That is not something that would happen now or in the future. It is just not possible.

Maybe we can update this discussion with a more appropriate topic How should a writer price his work these days? Considering that Ai is the most common choice, the default choice for most students, when it comes to writing their papers. How would a human writer price his bid so that the student would choose him over a free or paid AI service? Let's sell the students on human writing with legitimate and fair pricing, without any fear of blackmail in the future.

Why didn't you just charge him for your time and meet him? I had clients before that felt more comfortable meeting me in person before hiring me. There are some OC clients that do insist on explaining things in detail during an in person meeting just because they gain more confidence in their writer that way. you could have also better assessed him as a potential client.

Yes. Those review sites are fake for the most part. They are actually search engine directory targeted advertising for academic writing companies that have several companies under their umbrella. They pretend to review these sites and sing praises of the quality and writer dedication, knowing very well that they are lying about the company and its attributes. Since this is also company run, those review sites stay online and actually keep running for as long as the mother company exists.

It would appear that the offer of the OP landed on deaf ears since he did not really report back with anything positive in this thread. He sort of just disappeared. Free essays would never have been an audience draw because students can easily find free essays online for them to use. They can even have AI draw up a sample essay these days. Paid services by human writers will always be best. It is the best way to find a regular writer who can actually create far better research papers for students than any AI ever can.

The problem is that none of those choices apply in the age of AI academic writing. There are cases wherein the writers themselves turn to AI for writing for their clients so it is really difficult to "test" a writer's true abilities these days. Not unless you can have the writer do a spur of the moment test, and submit it to you within 40 minutes. Stay online with him to make sure he is not running an AI quick write on you. Make sure to have your AI detector app available for immediate verification,

Accepting Paypal is sort of a trust badge in the business. However, that does not mean that the company is safe and reliable. Some people mistake the payment channel for a trust badge like I said. It just means that the client has a recourse for a refund if the deal goes south. Do not give too much importance to the PayPal acceptance. It does not speak for the quality of work that the company will produce for you.

It is not possible to sue essay writing companies for misrepresentation because of the distance between the client and the supplier. Each one is located in a different area of the world, making it impossible to enforce the laws of each country on the company. It would cost too much for the client to learn of the actual office address of the company and they go the country just to file a lawsuit. It is better to simply let it slide and make their misdeed public information instead.

These days the human writers sell their services on social media where there is instant access to the writer either via chat or call. Students like that. They like having a way to instantly contact their writers without having to pass through hoops. As a writer who is in competition with AI, making yourself available to answer these queries or other queries by the potential or current client could prove to spell the difference between them becoming regular clients and them opting for AI after they feel they have been neglected by the human writer.

I think that the post made by Cite was done during the lockdown era? That is why there is a reference to online classrooms? Anyway, students and teachers these these days are both taking the easy way to education. Students, use AI for research and writing, summarizing information they should be reading, exam preparation, etc. While teachers allow AI to make their lesson plans, create classroom activities, among others. So both are doing an educational blunder in different ways.

You will be hard pressed to find any writers or companies that would be willing to hire you as a writer these days. Students are more and more relying upon AI for all their writing needs because of its speed, "accuracy", and affordable subscription schemes when compared to the cost and dangers of hiring a human writer. You can still try to pursue a writing career as a human writer, but do not expect your client base to build up as it used to back in the early 00's.

Google Gemini has actually partnered with Canva to help students create review papers for any subject that is required by the student. Teachers have found that asking Geminin to generate an exam for them, based on certain learning objectives, results in well written exam questions that come with a scoring guide (if requested). At the end of that generation is a question' "Do you want to practice using these questions?" or something similar. Once the student clicks on "Yes", the practice test will be launched.

It is highly difficult for independent writers to reach out directly to students these days for 2 reasons. The first, is that they fear being blackmailed by these writers later on. Second, they would much rather to to an AI for writing consultation and essay writing. The only writers that may stand a chance of becoming a direct hire in today's climate are the ENL writers. ESL writers have almost been fully edged out of the academic writing world these days.

Students do not have the time nor inclination to learn how to do a proper search at this site. Unless the admin of the forum decides to create a "Search on this site for dummies" guide, also known as a how to page, I don't think we will get students who actually did the research necessary on the topic they want to discuss. Posting the same question in a paraphrased form would also have benefits for the company that owns this forum in the sense that it will allow the SEO to list those topics as new for this site, thus boosting site traffic based on sponsored pages.

General Talk / turnitin and plagiarism [28]

Google Translate

Google Translate now keeps records of everything that it translates for the user because the information is used to improve the artificial intelligence of Gemini. So, while your paper may not have shown up in a search during previous times, it may show up these days when you do a Google search. AI can easily tell you if your paper shows up anywhere else on the internet, but it will not tell you when AI uses your information in other papers. Therefore, it is best to never upload your paper to the internet for any reason.

I think the idea of plagiarism in this case would depend upon how the professor would view the action of the student. Since it is normal to seek writing help while in college, telling the professor that you paid for the writing help would be seen more as a positive, rather than a negative action. The student came clean about the editing help, which came after the professor had already seen the original work that he wrote and requested the student to make changes and improvements to the paper. Having seen the original, the professor will definitely understand why he asked for writing help for the revision.

Even students who can write their own essays will eventually need help completing their homework. That is because college life is designed to create critical thinkers and opinionated adults. This is something that most passionate essayist students thrive on, but, also find themselves struggling to write when a topic does not interest them. So they turn to others, professional writers who can help them write even the easiest of essay topics, specially the ones that the students do nor have any desire to write.

I don't know about you guys but I cannot accept an opinion as truthful if it cannot be backed up by the simplest and most easily provable evidence. That is the purpose of this whole forum, to debate the legitimacy of services and give advice to students based upon the evidence that writers and other students have gathered or experienced over time. If one does not wish to participate in such a debate, then they should not be discrediting the importance of presenting evidence either. Just let the debate proceed as it normally does.

It is an unspoken assumption that almost all writing companies are seen as problematic in terms of customer service and paper quality, aside from their image of being blackmailers. While we are not allowed to endorse any company at this forum and a Do Not Discuss list exists because the companies do not wish to be mentioned in connection with anything within the threads, I can say that you might have better luck finding a safe independent writer instead. They are the ones that normally carry out stress free dealings with their clients both old and new.
