Filipinos are some of the biggest scam artists in the world. They cannot be trusted to tell the truth when it comes to their jobs. I had the unfortunate experience of hiring a Filipino writer for my company as there was a paper requiring some Philippine Sociology expertise that came into my company. This writer was referred to me by a friend, who must have been envious of my success. This writer did not only turn in the most imbecilic paper I have ever read, he actually demanded to be paid for a paper that was written using 2 left feet. I would never trust a company coming out of that country or a writer employed by a company coming out of the Philippines. They are just too much of a headache to deal with.

I think the criminals saw you coming a mile away. They have ways of identifying first time users to the homework help game. They also know exactly how to blackmail the students. You unwittingly knew how to get around their scam. However, you were not familiar enough with the game to know that because you did not submit the work they did, you were in the clear in terms of plagiarism and paid work. Next time, be more aware. Don't use companies without first vetting their services by asking others, specially the users at this forum. You will always get the correct advice from the writers and company reps here.

General Talk / The Rise of the Empty Noun [10]

Well, they do always say that English is a constantly evolving language. So the writing rules are also expected to change over time. The empty nouns are now acceptable simply because it was made the norm due to constant usage. It is something similar to "If you keep telling a lie, it eventually becomes a truth." However, the empty noun will never make a person seem smarter since all he is doing is trying to confuse the person listening to him, who probably isn't that dumb to begin with. Most people see through the empty nouns anyway and call the speakers / writers on that error.

Persuasive writing requires more than just a gift of gab. A glib writer will not necessarily be a good writer. It all boils down to the persuasiveness of the presentation. The convincing power should be based on relevant discussion points, irrefutable facts, and relevant examples. If a writer cannot provide these elements in the written essay, then it will not be very persuasive / convincing.

Everywhere in the world are expensive places to study these days. All countries offer student loans and scholarships to students of differing levels. It is no longer financially feasible to study advanced your undergraduate course unless your company will be sponsoring your studies. Some students use the opportunity to take on international post study courses, sponsored by various foundations just so they can pursue post graduate studies. Somehow though, I am not convinced they are pursuing these studies abroad to actually go back to their home country and be of help to their countrymen.

Well, that was a fun piece of reading. Entertaining and tongue in cheek all the way. I think I will look into the historical history of writing now. I am sure it will be more fascinating to learn about. Sometimes, I become interested in learning about other topics simply by reading the comments and threads in this forum. It's also an educational tool in some ways. I pass it on to my writers whenever I can. I am sure they will also get a laugh out of this post. After I pass it on.

Essay Services / propaperswriting.com spun [11]

Can someone tell me what the Essay Services section of this forum is for? I sincerely thought that direct advertising and solicitation threads such as these were not allowed. This is the most confusing part of participating in this forum. I try to stay within the dictates of not promoting a service nor referring any students to a specific service or writer. However, when I see posts like these, I wonder why we are being prevented from direct advertising when these problematic essay companies can freely do so.

The company is constantly changing IP addresses and servers. 7 changes over 9 years tells me the company can't even stay in the same hands for longer than several months. If students would just take the time to do a reverse IP lookup, they would see that this company is not reliable at all. As for writers, the same IP reverse lookup will tell you that they are not looking for actual writers, just partners in crime. If you are a writer looking to make a living, this company isn't for you. They are nothing more than hunters on the lookout for prey.

Yes, there is room for humor in academic papers. Yes, professors acknowledge that these papers can be drier than cardboard at times. Which is why they often include an opening for creative and comical situations in the instructions for the research paper. I have found that when I inject some sort of humor into the research paper of a student, the professor tends to give it a better grade. I believe that is because the paper removes the redundancy of the information and presentation, leading to a lighter mood for the professor. He also tends to remember the name of the student who makes him laugh on paper, leading to a better grade for the student when the professor finally connects the name with a face in the classroom.

CustomWritings often gets confused with CustomPapers. Now I understand the problem. These name similarities are often the source of problems for students who think they are dealing with a reputable company, then up working with a scam. They do not realize the wordplay error until it is too late. Yes, these are the companies that tend to sabotage the ES community. They are often caught and need to change their company name about 8 times a year.

The only way to really bypass turnitin is to make sure that your writer has written original content for you. In addition to that, you have to request a non-plagiarism check for your paper to ensure that no part of the paper will enter any type of database that may hold a copy of your paper. The submission of the paper to any database is often what triggers a plagiarism report in various systems. You cannot use a software to bypass another software. AI has not achieved that type of rewriting capacity yet. Having a writer who knows how to do his job is the best work around for this problem.

Is there no way these fraudsters can be reported to authorities?

These fly by night blackmailers are difficult to keep track of. That makes them more difficult to report to authorities. If you hired them off the web, then not having a physical location for them or their office makes things even worse. This is what these criminals rely on, the anonymity that the internet provides. While you can try to report them to authorities, I would have to ask, where would you start? With the freemail address? With an url that pings all over the world? With a fictitious name? Can you now see why it is more difficult to report these scammers to authorities? You need to know how to protect yourself from these types of people to avoid getting entangled in their scams. That is easier and safer than trying to report them to the authorities.

The speed by which a freelancer writer produces a paper will depend upon the agreed upon turn around time. However, do not expect a writer to produce 1000 pages overnight when the presentation requires intricate research and source materials. The student should have realistic expectations for a turn-around time. A 100 page paper can be churned out overnight, if the requirements are simple enough and easily accessible. An independent writer should inform the potential client of his actual turn around time. He should never agree to a turn around time as specified by the student just to get the job. Transparency is highly required when considering the speed by which the writer will be expected to complete the paper.

The OP most certainly proves the reasoning of the company that refused to pay the salary. While I am sure that some ESL writers at that company can somehow provide acceptable work, this guy isn't one of them. I agree that the company should not have paid him and that it is really possible that the student failed, causing a refund, and a punishment for the writer. The writers should only be paid based on the satisfaction of the client. If there is actual evidence that the student failed, then this writer has no right to complain, or even post a written complaint at this forum. If I were his boss, I would fire him immediately.

The purpose of this forum is to be a mouth piece. It allows a controlled, but free-flowing discussion in relation to client experiences with writing companies and freelance writers. Positive or negative, the post will be informative and useful to the students who come here looking for guidance. A civilized discussion will never the shut down at this forum. However, if you run out of control and turn this forum into a battleground, then expect the administrators to step in to prevent any libel cases that could get the forum owners involved in the suit.

For me, the solution to this problem is simple. If you don't like the rules of the forum, you are free to leave. Nobody is being forced to use the system and nobody should be higher in authority than the owners of this forum when it comes to implementing regulations. Yes, even if you are paying to be highlighted at this forum. This forum is first and foremost, a business for the people that own it. They will always come up with creative ways to monetize the content and data of other users. That is what big data is all about and that is how this forum will continue to evolve going forward. More and more data, higher and higher fees, will be required of the freelance writers who choose to promote themselves at this forum. Nothing is ever free and, in this case, fees will be required if you want to be at the top of the profile page.

Why is it that every time somebody posts a positive review of an academic writing company, the automatic assumption is that it is a company representative posting in veiled defense of the writing company? I will admit that there are times when the salespersons posting are really obvious but, in this case, I think the student posting the positive review was exactly that. A satisfied client. There wasn't really anything in the post that would have triggered suspicion as far as I am concerned. It is important to acknowledge that there will be some clients satisfied with the work of a writing company, even if others view the company as a fraud or scam site. If it delivers, then that client will view it as a legitimate company.

I know there are free service such as Google etc

You won't believe the hilarious translations that Google translate has been doing. Even though they claim to have human translators working on the AI translator, there will always be something missing or going wrong with the translation. That is why I refused to go into the international translation service even when the opportunity for me to do so arose. I prefer to have humans translating for my clients. The human translators can always see beyond the simplistic translation of words, using unique ways of translation instead. Humans can translate words using close enough terms to deliver the correct meaning of the sentence being translated. An AI cannot do that. The AI does not have the ability to decipher sentence meanings and come to a close translation. It will merely translate word for word and the user, can only hope that the AI translation is as close to what he means to say as possible.

The problem with creating an association of freelance writers is that the membership dues paid would need to result in some sort of actual protection for the writers. What sort of protection could the association provide? How would it work? Would it be limited to the USA? Would there be a need for international chapters? What if the ESL writers create a similar organization? Wouldn't the associations just be a new way of creating more problems for the students? Having associations would not regulate the industry. Only a government agency overseeing such associations would, as best I can tell, provide credence, reliability, and professionalism in the industry. These are just some of the reasons that I do not believe creating an association would work to anyone's benefit in an industry that has remained unregulated for far too long.

If you were planning to go back to school, would you still do academic writing for money?

Yes. For college students who have a strong set of writing skills, the ability to be an academic writer on campus can be a good thing. It helped me with my additional expenses as a student and often, gave me some extra cash to spend on whims and caprices. Academic writing while a student actually helps you prepare for 2 eventual careers: the one you studied for or, the one you were paid for. Either way you end up with a skill that will help you earn money after you complete your education. Beating the pavement looking for work was never something that happened to me because I had the continuous flow of students to support me after I graduated. That, is also the reason why I ended up in this career instead of the one I studied for.

The name of the company alone should raise suspicions. EssayOneDay? Really? Although the writing companies do work with short turnaround times, actually using that reference as a company name should leave one wondering if the writers at this company are really that good. As the nightmare paper submitted and subsequent refund nightmare will prove, the name of a company does have a lot to do with the quality of the work provided. Any company that brags of a particular skill should, as far as I am concerned, be judged by the name it claims to personify.

EssayAcademia is a writing company out of India that never stays long in the ownership of one person. The company treats their Indian writers to badly that they have a revolving door of ESL writers. The only reason that the company is continuously brought under new management is that, pre-Covid times, the students were still hiring academic writers based on price points. There was still money to be made from the company. Last I heard, the company is struggling to find a new owner because the last one lost his shirt during the lock-down. While India did not have a lock down of value, the international school closing scene really affected the business since the company relies mostly on scamming students, who were out of school at the time.

I do miss the sounds of manual keys being struck..

I know what you mean. I miss those sounds sometimes as I pluck away on the computer keyboard. Sometimes, the keyboard is so quiet, I don't feel like I am typing. I lucked out and found a keyboard that replicated the typewriter sounds online. I bought it and took joy in hearing the familiar sounds of typing on a keyboard. It was a nostalgic trip for me, taking me back to my college days when I would burn the midnight candle and have my parents rapping on my bedroom door as I was typing too loudly for them to be able to court sleep. I miss those days.

What I do not miss about the typewriter keyboard is the strength that it took to hit those keys, getting the ribbon tangled and filling my shirt with ink as I tried to untangle the thing, and the accidental finger slips between keys that made my middle finger bleed one time.

Thanks for this enjoyable post. It was a trip down memory lane for some of us.

It is very easy to buy a US business address, cloak the company IP to make it ping as coming from the USA, buy a US based phone number, and use American sounding names. All of these are what the students think create a legitimate American essay writing company. Under normal circumstances, these credentials would convince anybody that they company is American and legit. However, since these credentials can be bought, it is difficult to actually tell when a company is really located in the US or not. The virtual business scene has actually made that almost impossible to verify. Give the company that claims to be in the USA the benefit of the doubt. If things work out, then maybe, they are telling the truth. If not, then you have the proof you need that tells you that it isn't an American essay writing company.

The strength of a freelance writer? The ability to keep the full earnings for yourself. The possibility of creating your own permanent client base. The opportunity to spin off your business into various avenues, without having to consider any TOS when connected to a writing company. Disadvantage of being a freelance writer? Difficulty in finding clients. Networking to build your client base creates a problem when you tend to network with fellow writers, thus creating frenemies in the process. Not having a regular flow of orders that would assure a steady income stream at the start.

Advantages of working with a writing company? Regular income stream, not having to look for your own client base. Creating a sizeable income stream through the client base created for the company. Disadvantages: Having to share the income with the company in an unfair percentage representation, not having total freedom to grow your career based in diverging interests, being the scapegoat for the company when they want to keep the client happy, among other disadvantages.

CustomPapers.com is one of the more reputable companies in the academic writing business. They have been around long enough to be called one of the legitimate companies around. They know their business very well and their writers are highly reliable. The experiences depicted here sound nothing like the way they do business. They bend over backwards to accommodate their client needs. What they always tells the clients though, is that the papers are models and should not be submitted for a grade. However, there are some clients who ignore that warning and submit the essay anyway. Which is why their writers, rather than writing a model paper, write new papers for the client, with as little citations as possible, so that the student, should he decide to submit the paper for a grade, can do so without worries. I do not believe the incidents told in this thread. I know some of their writers personally and I can attest to the hard work that they put into creating these papers for the clients they have.

Essay Services / legitimate custom essay website [23]

The legitimacy of a website or academic writing company does not come from a recommendation or suggestion of someone else. The legitimacy, regardless of the location of the company, comes from the working relationship you develop with the company. If you find a company that you would like to work with, then work the company and decide on the legitimacy of the business entity on your own. Do not ask for suggestions because the work experience of each student with a company tends to vary. There are several considerations that create a good working relationship: The regularity of communication between the staff and client, access to the writer, timely delivery, high quality of work, and the deliverance of the assured grade are but a few considerations that can create the idea of legitimacy for a company. If the company delivers on these fronts, then, I would consider the company to be legitimate.

Since the OP is obviously an ESL, I cannot see how the company ESL writers were able to mess up the paper worse than the ESL student would have. They should be thankful they got writers closer to their language usage style. The professor gave them the grades that they deserve. In fact, the writers actually earned them the right grade in this instance. When your English grammar is as bad as the OP's, that person does not have the right to complain. He should thank the writer for getting him the grade that his actual skills deserve. The professor never suspected the OP of having hired a writer, which is the main goal of an ESL writer working for an ESL student.

@EssayCrate what part of not advertising on this forum don't you understand? You definitely tried, but failed to hijack the thread since nobody paid attention to you. It would be best for you to stop trying to convince us that your company is US based, which it isn't. Your company is also well known for plagiarized work that students cannot get their money back for. Your company is nothing but another scam. From what I heard, your company is also related to topqualityessays so I am guessing you are here trying to get clients for TQE in the guise of a different company. Yes, that figure can definitely be achieved, but not in one year and not with one client. I achieved that salary in the past by being patient, doing my job well, and adding up my income over 5 years. The result, I achieved $100k but not in the bank since I had to spend the money as I earned it. I had savings set aside to eventually launch my own company. That amounted to $300k. Then, since I have always kept tabs on my expenses, I added everything up over the years and saw, much to my amazement, that I achieved that amount over a period of 5 years. If you don't aim for the amount in one work schedule then you might also achieve that figure over the years as I did.

I do not know of anyone who would be so desperate to get a UVOCorp account. The writers there are suckers for punishment. They always get paid 3 months late, if at all, and they always have fines and / or penalties applied to their salaries so that they basically wait 3 months for nothing. This company is well known for the gloss of its websites, which is probably why the writers fall for their con game. They pretend to have some sort of HR, hence the testing phase, but like the other posters said, the company will hire anyone with a pulse. Work for them only if you are willing to work for free. Do not expect to get paid. If you even go so far as to buy an account there, then you need to get your head examined.

They require writers, at least in my case, to provide identification documents including driver's license, id card and (not or) passport. Then a few days later they ask for Skype and personal phone numbers. Any comments?

Yes. They sound like they are out to steal your identity rather than simply setting up your account. That is way too much information based on government based ID systems of any country, for you to share with any company that does not truly require (read: not government mandated) any KYC procedures. Do not proceed with signing up with any company that requires government issued ID's as a part of the application process unless it is a reputable and publicly known company. In this case, it sounds more like the company is preparing for use your credentials for fraud than anything else.

In fact, they knew from the very start that the email you gave was non-working, Their payment bounced the minute they "tried" to pay you. They realized they were in luck and they saved $900 based on writer error. You will never get that money owed to you. You may as well just quit writing for them and consider what happened a nightmare. Let it be your cautionary tale when signing up for any service that will require the them to send money to you.

Writing Careers / jobforwriter.com - legit or not? [11]

All the websites are made to appear classy and legit. That is how they attract the attention and immediate trust of the student. It is only when you actually start dealing with them that the pageantry of the site becomes useless and questionable to the user. Always assume that the sites you deal with are not legit, until you are able to prove otherwise. It is up to the company and its writers to prove their legitimacy to the potential client. So make it difficult for them. Make their prove they are above board. They need your business more than you need their services.

As the potential user, you should be able to assess for yourself whether or not there is a validity to the requested information. Anytime you feel like there is too much request for private information or, if you feel uncomfortable giving the company any or all of the information they require just so you can set up an account for potential ordering, then you should not proceed with the company. You should not and are not, being forced to deal with a company that makes you question the integrity of the service provided. The final decision should be yours. Don't ask others about their experience and whether or not you should deal with the company. That should always be based on personal preference. If there is any doubt in your mind about the company, then simply move on. Keep looking. I am sure you will find a company or independent writer you will be comfortable dealing with from the very start.

I'm not confident that this suggestion is a good one. Won't the site be able to gain too much information regarding your account in the process? Leading to them being able to generate any password randomly to access your account? That is a distinct possibility. It would be better to avoid using password generator sites unless you are dealing with reputable firms like Yahoo, which uses a 2 factor authentication system instead. For all other password generation needs, using a portable, usb based random number or word generator would most likely be better than entrusting any information at all to any website.

... I assumed ...he was white. ...the white experience in Detroit blah blah. ...the dude sends me an angry email that basically said: wtf brah, I'm black..............

That often happens to my writers when writing papers about gender and race. It is because of this confusion, as most writers assume the clients are white, that I included a race and ethnicity question in our order form. This is a box that comes active when dealing with gender, race, and sexual identity papers. It helps the writers avoid the errors that come with assuming the race or race of a person. It has helped speed up with writing process and also, allows the writers to give a more targeted response within the paper.
