Writing Careers / When essay writing season starts? [37]

It depends on what the focus of your writing career is. If you are reliant on grade school to high school level writing, the season starts early to mid-September. If you are writing for the college crown, it is pretty much a year round thing as college students tend to enroll in summer school to speed up their educational calendar. It isn't good for a writer to rely on a writing season for income though. That pretty much limits your ability to generate income on a regular basis or stash away savings for a rainy day. It would be best for you to diversify your writing abilities so you can work year round, regardless of the season.

Since the OP made his comment in 2015 and it is now 2020, one can say that the ES will never outlive its usefulness. The forum continues to be the best source of information regarding problematic writing companies, scam writing companies, scam writers, fraudulent transactions, and the like. All the while offering the students links to reliable writing companies and independent writers with impeccable services that are easily verified. There will always be fake writing services and con artist writers lurking in the dark. EssayScam will always bring their like to light and continue to be the guiding hand that the students need to safely complete their education.

Academic writers rely on a steady stream of regular clients during the academic year to keep their income going. A regular set of clients ensures that the writer will have enough income to tide him over during the slow season. This applies only to academic writers who are directly hired by clients. Any writer employed by a company may be out of luck. The company could prevent him from earning during the slow seasons because "there aren't enough orders to go around". Writing company owners that this is a load of unmentionables as they still charge their regular rates, even higher sometimes. They just refuse to share it with the writers. That's why it is important for writers to know how to do other work in between hot seasons. Others take on contractual writing jobs. Others write for online magazines and paid blog services. The positive prospects for freelance writers during the slow season are endless. The writer just needs to be good enough to get hired for the other available gigs.

Here's a novel thought, why not just make sure that you use original sources, properly cite the information origins, and write properly developed and completely thought out discussions for the paper? That's the best way to avoid any plagiarism problems. If you,as the writer have the confidence that the paper you wrote is backed by solid, non-plagiarized information, not even a paraphrase of any sort, then you can confidently assure the client that the paper will pass any plagiarism checker. Writing companies should not be submitting the papers written for any client to any database for checking anyway. That's the main reason why these plagiarism checkers catch the plagiarism in the first place.

Admissions OfficerSo, it seems that Turnitin has decided to expand its research database by partnering with a European company that specializes in student application management systems. The partnership is supposed to streamline the work that the plagiarism program has to do by making it more efficient even while allowing it it access an increased number of databases.

In addition to that, the system will also allow Turnitin to scan essays submitted during the admissions process. I have no problem with the two companies partnering up for plagiarism checks.

I have a problem with them partnering up to ease the admissions process. I do not think automating the admissions process should be considered beneficial to the students, even if it does speed up the work of reviewers.

Admit it, software is still fallable. Therefore, it can easily mistake similar application essays for plagiarized work. That, would not be beneficial to the students.

While no actual explanation as to how the system will work was given, I still think that manual application essay reviews are better than automatic detection software.

I think that Study Review just pieced the information, along with suspicions that these bits and pieces of "information" may have created to come to a personal conclusion. While those in the know can actually confirm that the overseas based writing companies tend to have umbrella companies, the writers are never told of this nor would the company confirm it if asked. It doesn't take much research to confirm this on your own. A good researcher should be able to uncover the information using some computer search prowess.

As the educational system slowly shifts from an academic to a technical focus, one will notice a slowing down in academic orders. That is because students who opt for technical education do not have a tremendous need for academic writing. They educate their hands regarding a skill after all. Then there is the case of talented students who totally skip the college step in favor of creating start up companies. Again, they do not have any need for academic writing. They do have a need for someone who can write a decent business plan though but still, no academic writing required. Minimal research may be needed but these are information presentations they can do themselves. There might still be a resurgence of academic writing needs among students but for now, academic writers need to learn to diversify to keep the money machine going.

It is best to not work for writing companies to avoid fines and other forms of penalty per order. When anybody asks me how to get started with paid writing. I tell them follow the simplest way. Sign up for a free blogsite, write about what you know. promote the heck out of it (paying for the advertising if needed at first), then post a link for donations to Paypal. You'd be surprised at how fast that generates income once the blog is well promoted. Sites like Blogspot and Wordpress make it a bit difficult to accomplish that though. Patreon is the best way to go, if you really have the talent for writing and aren't afraid to step out of your academic writing comfort zone.

Were you caught because you made the mistake of using one of those pre-written essays? Or were you one of those "blackmailed" by a con artist? Perhaps you used the paper without changing enough of it to avoid being flagged by a plagiarism program? You did not really explain how you were caught by your university. Without knowing what the conditions of your expulsion from the university were, it will be hard for a student to gain a lesson from what happened to you. The lesson can only be learned if you provide enough information to explain how and why you were caught by the professor.

Writing Careers / Writers: Do you take editing jobs? [13]

I believe that editing jobs should cost more when compared to regular writing jobs. The reason why charging more seems logical to me is because the task requires the writer to review the work of someone else and verify information within the paper for accuracy by doing the research all over again using given sources. The time it takes to edit the essay is double the time one would spend on writing an original paper. Hence, if a task takes longer to complete, the more one should charge for his time spent working on the edited version.

Welcome! It appears that the Kenyans have a reputation for being con artists and scumbags. They have been misrepresenting themselves to the students and very often, do not deliver on the work that has been ordered. Their writing skills are very elementary that the students demand refunds for their work, which they don't get. Instead, the students are blackmailed / threatened with exposure, the list just goes on and on. That is not to say that all the Kenyan freelancers are all bad people. Rather, a few rotten apples may have just contaminated the whole basket. I'd like to give them a chance to prove that they are the opposite of the popular belief, if they can do so.

A trustworthy student-writer relationship is not something you can have right off the bat. It is something that is built over time through experience and results. It is more difficult to build such a relationship with a writing company because your writer tends to change from project to project. However, if you hire an independent writer and work with that writer long-term, then you have a better chance of building a trusting relationship over time. The first time out with that writer though, you will have to rely on goodwill and hope that your writer does right by you and won't blackmail you later on. It would be better if you hire a vetted writer with a long track record of trust with the client though. You can choose any of the independent writers here at ES and begin to accomplish that. Only a writer with a long standing reputation will care enough to build a positive work relationship with a new client. Trust me on that.

Here's one thing no student has ever tried yet. I am not sure how it might turn out for you, but if this were a Hollywood movie, you'd be admired for your honesty and given a second chance. What I mean is, come clean with your professor if you are that deathly afraid of the consequences of your actions. With any luck, your professor may take pity on you and allow you to write the paper again, this time, do it on your own. I know, its a scenario that only works on film. Who knows though, it just might work in real life. If you remove the threat through honesty, then you have nothing to fear. An admission of guilt usually tugs at the heart right? So let's hope your professor's heart isn't set in stone. The other option isn't really logical because it involves your willingness to pay an increasing amount of blackmail money to the bully you absentmindedly turned over all of your personal data to. These scammers aren't researchers, they are criminals posing as academic writers.

There is no way a pre-written paper can be unplagiarized. Simply paraphrasing an existing piece of research and keeping the original sources will still flag your paper. Sure it will get past a plagiarism checking tool, but it won't get past the human eye of a teacher, professor, or instructor. The human factor is a consideration that software can't get around. Believe me, these professionals can spot a plagiarized paper, regardless of how well it was paraphrased. It all boils down to the paraphrased keywords. The tendency of writers who paraphrase is to keep certain keywords in the same position within a paragraph intact. Specially since most students instruct that the paraphrasing be done in such a manner for some reason. Paraphrasing doesn't work. It is always safest to have a fresh paper written, with more up to date sources and original formatting. That is the only way to get a plagiarism free paper.

Freelance writers need to be chameleons these days. You can't just focus on the academic writing sector and hope that things pick up for you. The independent writing business has blown wide open so that anybody who can write well can actually find employment in various fields. There is no sense in focusing on just the academic writing field and then fretting during the slow season. If you are worried about how long you are going to last and when the orders will finally pick up , then you are not really a skilled or qualified writer. Diversify your writing styles so you can stop worrying about if or when the academic writing season will pick up.

Here's the thing. The best thing to do is call the blackmailer's bluff. Ignore him. Don't pay this extortionist. You know what you did, you know of the possible consequences of your actions. You did this with your eyes open. Now is not the time to grow a conscience. Your only choices are as follows:

1. Pay the amount asked and hope the blackmailer goes away. Note: He won't. You just gave him ammo to continue blackmailing you for years to come.

2. Don't pay and see if he actually has enough information on you to blow your academic dishonesty sky-high. Which I doubt. Then again, I am not aware of the kind of personal data he required when you placed your order that might allow him to end your academic career and professional future in one blow.

Usually, these people are just out there looking for gullible people to victimize. I highly suggest going for option 2. There's a high chance he isn't capable of making good on this threat and your academic dishonesty secret will remain just that, a secret. If you pay, then make sure you have the kind of money in your account that you can just throw away each and every time he harasses and threatens you. Don't be a fool twice over.

Writing Careers / What should off-shore writers do? [22]

Since these companies normally hire writers from third world countries, moral considerations and academic honesty are not really important. These people will work for peanuts because every dollar paid to that writer equates to food on the table for the family along with rent, utilities, and other expenses paid. Does that make them criminals? Nope. It makes them good providers to their family instead. At least in the context of third world living. So, even though they know that they are part of a gray area of slave laborers, they will continue to write and accept whatever whiplash the company decides to heap upon them. All because they have bills to pay and at least one mouth to feed.

Don't ever equate the high charges of a writing company with quality work and a high academic grade. I would be weary of dealing with such a company because they are overcharging for the work they are hired to do. If you can't negotiate the price, based on being a first time client, I would not want to deal with such a company. This is the advantage that freelance writers have over the companies. They can provide sample work if asked to do so, negotiate the price of a paper with a student, and, because there is an actual direct line of communication between the student and writer, allow the student to decide if this is the writer that they think can deliver on the type of quality they need to appear in the written work.

Since the OP never got back to us, I can only assume that he figured out a way of collecting the balance on the debt, without having to resort to legal or unscrupulous means. Sometimes, collecting on the balance is just a matter of talking to the client, making sure to keep a cordial tone, and working with him until some sort of payment schedule can be reached. That is, if the client actually had intentions of paying and was simply in a bad financial situation at the time. I choose to believe that he was able to collect on the money owed, which is why we never heard from him again at this forum.

I think the original post was written as an advertisement. He was advertising his company as being at par with CustomPapers and UVOCorp based on his qualifications as a writer. He was also implying that he employs the same writing standards and quality check assurances as these previously mentioned writing companies. Repeated readings of his post even led me to believe that he is not only trying to gain clients via his facebook page, but also recruit writers for his company. He did fail to mention if he has a fining policy for his writers and a revision request policy for potential clients so his advertisement wasn't as complete as it should have been.

Their copy is written based on a series of keywords that were designed to maximize its search engine position. I read the content of the site and immediately spotted at least 17 keywords that were assigned to the writer. The idea being that the writer will integrate the keywords into his writing, regardless of whether the insertion will make sense to the reader. The keyword priority is what made the writing choppy and horrible. It doesn't necessarily mean that the person who wrote the blurb was terrible at the job or that he is an ESL writer. It just means that the instruction was for him to use all the keywords several times in the presentation, regardless of the final quality of his work. The atrocious writing made his client happy. That was the only aim of the writer.

No. There is nothing with you. Writing this paper yourself means that you understand why you are attending college. Your focus is on learning and self-improvement. By writing this paper yourself, you are telling everyone that you are willing to take the risk and accept the grade you are given. You are honest about your writing skills and are willing to accept any failures that come along with it. You are willing to learn from your mistakes. Nothing wrong with that. I hope you got a fantastic great for your paper.

I would not recommend any of those companies to any writer. Their quality control is non-existent and they will accept anybody who is willing to work for a pittance. Slave labor is what those companies are mostly known for since they employ writer who base their salaries on the dollar conversion rates. If you really want to work as a writer / researcher, then try to get into the business on your own. Work for yourself. That way you get all the benefits of being a truly independent writer.

Since Google has cracked down on academic writing companies, I am sure this company has gone to that dreadful place where low quality companies eventually end up. Or at least the company name will have faded away. The owners of the company can come back under a new company name, with a different job description to get around the Google filters, and the same staff of bad writers. No amount of attacking these bad companies will really put them out of business. They'll simply reformat their business approach for a "new crowd" of students who will be none the wiser that the company is run by the same bad people.

Let's face it. There are some people who are just born researchers and there are some people who can't string 2 sentences together to make a coherent statement. I believe that a researcher is born, not created. If one has a love for reading , is observant and an imaginative eye, then it won't take much for that person to become a researcher. However, that is not to say that the researcher will be a good writer. I speak of course of the writers for hire from out of the Third World countries who, try as they will, can't really live up to the research quality and writing styles of native English speakers who carry the aforementioned qualities.

The problem is, when they come across students who are willing to investigate before turning over their cash, which is extremely rare, the company is found out and their fake reputation spreads like wildfire over the web.

That is where websites like ES come in handy. We help the student steer clear of these fake websites and con artist writers. It has fallen upon us to help make the academic writing world a safer place for our clients. We end up doing the investigating for the students because they don't realize how dark and dangerous the academic writing world can be for them.

Most assignment help websites come out of the Asian region. While they do have some proficient programmers in the region, I am not led to believe that a programmer working for a scam writing site would be worth the money. After all, if he were any good, he would be programming for one of the big companies with offices in the region. When it comes to writing code, it is always best to steer clear of the writing companies and trying to find a coder for hire (part-time) within the US or UK. Ask your classmates, they may know some senior students who hire themselves out to lower class-men. It would be a lot cheaper and less trouble than paying thousands to a coder you know nothing about at a company that has questionable credentials.

I hope you did your best to disengage your bank account from the clutches of the company because if you didn't, I am sure that they ended up charging you 100% of the paper price. I must say, this writing company / writer is an exception to the rule. As a norm, these companies / writers do not really take well to being asked for a refund, nor would they give a refund in full when forced to do so. Consider yourself blessed. You certainly had better luck than the other students who need to file disputes just to get partial refunds. Don't think you will have the same luck twice though. You may not be so lucky next time. Always remember, if your gut feeling tells you something is wrong with the transaction, then go with it. Don't even start the transaction just to be on the safe side.

These companies know very well that their writers are incapable of doing the job that the student needs the writer to do. Their greed and need to meet a monthly sales quota drives their movements. Which is why the students gets empty reassurances and promises of the perfect paper. Never take their word for it. Companies that offer cheap rates and offer discounts are the kind that try to appeal to the "discount" sense of students, knowing that they will prioritize the discount over the question of paper quality at the start. Once they get your money, your on the hook and will have a hell of a time trying to get out of it or getting your money back. It never pays to go with an non-vetted writing website. It just means that anybody who has had any sort of experience with the company hasn't made their way to this forum yet. Personally, I would advise any students looking for a writing service to steer clear of writing companies that make false claims, such as their start of business year and the like. Running a reverse IP lookup and taking the results into consideration will usually save the student a lot of trouble.

Paypal used to offer a form of protection for writers and clients. I doubt that is still the case since Paypal has cracked down on writing companies and individuals whose business profiles are related to academic writing or services. I do not believe that asking for proof of writing ability it that important these days. I mean, the client, who directly hires the writer or communicates with the writer through a company PM system should be able to judge if the writer is capable or not. Simply base the opinion on how the writer responds to the communication your provide. From my perspective, the list refers more to the red flags to watch out for when hiring a writer or writing company, rather than relating to creating a positive working experience with the student.

Disclaimers like that are worthless. The company knows very well that the students hire their services to write "original" papers for them. The companies actually contradict themselves when they say that they write "original papers" for "reference". Which is what this company implied through its disclaimer. The students will always use the paper as an "original" which is why the companies pretend to employ "plagiarism checkers". Regardless, the posting serves as a warning to the students who might be thinking of employing such services, not necessarily this company, in the future.

Your outline should be simple enough to follow for any writer who has a good grasp of the English language. Paraphrasing is easy enough once you understand the actual meaning of the paragraph or article that you are basing the paraphrase on. What you should not do is use a company that claims to be able to accurately paraphrase for you. Since you will not be in direct communication with the writer via social media, you will not really be able to judge whether the writer can truly paraphrase the work you will be submitting or not. If you must, consider using one of the independent writers here or one of the vetted writing companies as recommended by ES.

Students aren't wise to the additional danger of clicking on these fraudulent links. Another danger posed by these interlinking websites would be the ability of the program to attach a virus or ransomware to the link, thus infecting the computer of the student and posing a threat to his identity and other vital personal data. Writing companies have side businesses that the students don't know about. It's up to reliable and trustworthy independent writers to make sure the students are protected from such scams.

Never assume that just because the company uses a country based url, it can be trusted and it is located in that area of the world. Nothing could be further from the truth. The work that was delivered to the student indicates that the company is not where it claims to be located and the writers they employ are not native English speakers. The bottom line is this, if you pay an unbelievably low price for the paper you are ordering and any additional services, then you know that you are taking a chance by hiring that company. A reputable writing company and a capable freelance writer know better than to price their work using discount rates. Any company that offers a plagiarism check / report with your paper, whether as a free or add-on service, is out to steal the paper the student paid for. The minute the writer completed the work, the company already stole the paper from the student. There is no such thing as a transfer of intellectual rights with these companies. That only exists, along with a truly plagiarism free paper, when you directly hire your writer.
