Outside the US, your options are slim to none.

Exactly. From the way this writer spoke, there is a very good chance that he worked for a third world, slave driver company instead of for a reputable company that actually had a payment agreement with its writers that the company adheres to. So he really did not have any options except to consider what happened a hard learned lesson. I hope he wised up, left the company, and found a better employer after what happened to him.

I previously used Grammarly to check for possible plagiarism points in the client orders. Only upon the client's insistence. It is my personal and company policy never to check for plagiarism as it is important to avoid presubmitting the essay to a database. It could affect the final outcome of the submission. Anywa, Grammarly would often list the possible plagiarized points and then list the url of the blog, site, journal, or book where it might have come from / where it was originally published. What I would then do is change my source reference to the one that was listed to avoid plagiarism questions. It normally worked out fine for both the client and I.

Writing Careers / SENIOR writer - what does it mean? [10]

A Senior writer is someone whom the company can rely on to take the orders nobody else wants. He doesn't mind waking up in the middle of the night to attend to screaming clients, and he never says no to an order assignment. Yep, the comments are right, a Senior Writer is nothing but the punching bag of the company. He takes the abuse because the company keeps him employed with a regular supply of "request" orders, which may or may not come his actual regular clients. The Senior Writer should not be envied because he is the one who gets unfairly fined the most because he gets paid the most too.

I would have to say yes, writers who work for themselves are far better qualified to write papers than those who work for companies. That is because the independent writer is constantly training and honing his craft. He is constantly studying various fields and making sure that he can properly address any paper and topic that the student might throw his way. An independent writer will never let an order pass him by if he can help it. He will always be at the top of his game because his income depends upon it.

It will only get worse. While I have done my best to not change the rates for my writers and instead, improve the rates even if only by a fraction, the other writing companies are not doing the same. While I can take a hit in my own income to give it to my writers, the other companies opted to lower the CPP for their writers instead. These companies are selfish and self serving. It is difficult to find a well paying writing company these days. All the companies are trying to survive. Unfortunately, there are companies that do it at the expense of their writers, who are also just trying to survive this new normal.

So, the OP no longer updated this post. Why do they always do that? These sort of non-updated posts makes me think that the OP might be a person released by the opponents of the company to bad mouth their rival. The information provided is just too detailed. If someone thinking of applying for work at that company reads this post, they would think twice and more than likely, not apply for a writer position at the company anymore. I think that was the actual purpose of this post, to blacken the company's image so that the writers would not apply for a job there.

I would just like to caution the writers who are looking to be hired by academic writing companies these days. The work climate is not conducive to company hired workers at this point. The writing companies are barely keeping their heads above water at this point. The independent writers are faring far better than the affiliated ones. I guess that is because the companies have too much overhead when compared to the independent writers. The independent writers each for themselves. They don't have to share profits the same way a writing company does. It is better to try and create a client base of your own for now. Try not to split your profits if you do not have to.

Well, in the world of business, having several companies under one roof, involved in the same business just makes good business sense. Each company delves in the same business, but caters to a different crown and money bracket. The quality of the work depends upon which company subsidiary you chose, without knowing it. For example, a real estate developer can have 3 subsidiaries under the corporate umbrella:

Company A - caters to the first class crowd willing to pay a premium for the construction of his house and the location of the property.

Company B- Offers the middle class a similar service. Lower prices mean a moderately constructed house and middle class property location.
Company C - Caters to the people who would like to have a property but cannot afford the prices of company A and B. They take what they can get in whatever location is offered.

The same theory applies to the writing companies and their reason for having several company names. The cheaper the price, the lower the quality, but the client will still take what he can get.

Advertising is advertising, no matter how someone tries to cover it up. Sadly, the OP didn't do a very good job at it. For some reason, the people who run this forum seem to have decided to let his advertising stay this long. I thought advertising was not allowed at this forum but... oh well... It's their forum, their rules. I just hope that the students were not fooled into hiring this writer. I bet anyone who did was sorry for doing it. For all we know, someone already complained about this "writer" at the forum. We just did not notice that it was this fool of a writer that did the hack job for the student.

If reliant on a search engine for promotions, you should also be willing to do more than just spend money on advertising so that your ad gets flagged as a highlight in the search page. You should also be able to use social media to effectively promote your business. By providing interesting blogs and animated vlogs in relation to academic writing, you will be able to reach a wider audience. Some students are just looking for writing advice online, not someone to write their paper. However, if your social media profile is interesting enough, then the student may go from "advice" to "hiring" you or your company to complete the work for them. The idea is to sell the student on the notion that the paper, when completed by a professional, will be of the utmost advantage to them gradewise.

I would never advise a student to never ask anyone to write the essays for him. I mean, what if the student is actually helpless when it comes to writing? What if the ESL student has such a bad command of the English language that he just, by some miracle, passed his English language test by a hair? There is no way such a student would be able to compete in the English academic world. He will need all the help he can get. He should definitely ask someone to write his paper for him. From there, he can train himself to write his own paper. That way he will never be reliant on an academic writer. Of course, he will have to make sure that he doesn't hire a scam writer or writing company first. Now that, is another story.

Most new writers ( I am assuming the OP was one of those) often fall into this trap. In my time as a writer and company owner, I have come to realize that there will always be some students who will try to fleece a free paper out of me or my writers. What I do is, I inform the other writing companies and independent writers within my network about the student. I warn them not to deal with a student who uses the following information because the student is running a scam on the company and/or the writer/s. As for the payment, I write it off as a loss for myself, my writer , or my company. There are very little things you can do short of reporting the student to the university with evidence of the plagiarism, which is a long and tedious process that isn't good for anybody. It will not get you the money back.

Students should be thankful for the coming of Covid-19. These fly by night scam companies posing as legitimate companies have disappeared. These companies could not be kept afloat during the lockdown as they were not prepared for the sudden change in the way classes and research papers were being done. From what I heard, most of the companies ran out of money, just like other businesses, and disappeared, oftentimes shuttering their businesses without notifying nor paying their writers. So any blackmail scams they had in line also disappeared.

There is no valid reason why anyone who is serious about being an academic writer cannot improve their skills.

Agreed. In effect, one trains and learns to be an academic writer throughout his academic life. Every paper that we wrote in grade school taught us the rudiments of writing, every high school opinion paper developed out analytical abilities, and every research paper in college taught us the value of being able to convey our thoughts and opinions clearly and within expected guidelines. Becoming an academic writer is something that we are all trained to do. It is just that some of us can do it better than others. Note: By "others" I mean those whose first or second language isn't English. I have come across some writer applicants at my company who use English as their 3rd language, I never hire them.

is it just me or does the text message jargon bother anyone else? If you are a professional writer, I cannot see why in the world you'd ever post like a teen in a rush.

The text jargon definitely bothered me. It is important for these teens to realize that in the real world, in the world outside of their social media clusters, professionals still use words to communicate with one another. I sincerely doubt that the time will come when the likes of Warren Buffet would use a series of emiticons to communicate with his top brass people. Although, I have yet to see how Mark Zuckerberg communicates with his people internally. He being one of the advocates of emoji communication that is. If he can manage to run a business without using words to communicate with his employees, I'll buy up some FB stock. Hahaha !

General Talk / Blackmailed by writer [19]

Based on the way that the OP wrote his first post in this thread, I sincerely doubt he was able to write 7K words by himself in an academic /coherent manner. Besides, if he was able to write that many words in the first place, he would not have needed academic help. The OP was trying to hide something from us. Perhaps the fact that he actually paid to have the full paper written, and he never wrote an original sentence in the overall presentation.

While I disagree with blackmailing a student, I also frown upon students who do not tell the whole truth behind the situation that led to the blackmail in the first place. The opening post was so confusing to read, I had to pause a few times just to try and figure out what he was saying. Oh well, I guess everything worked out for the OP anyway. He never did update the thread so maybe he got away with not paying for the blackmail money. Or, maybe he paid it off. These posters seem to never give us the ending of their story. Sigh.

information on wiki pages is cited with peer reviewed articles and books.

That is true. Wikipedia pages cite exterior sources towards the end of the presentation. So students who are looking for extra information or, those who have no idea where to start, can use the references section of Wikipedia to get started. It is up to them to learn to decipher truth from fiction though. Not all the Wikipedia sources are accurate either. Students should use Wikipedia only to help them get to the more accurate and reliable sources. I tell students who ask me that Wikipedia is an excellent information networking jump off point. They are bound to end up with far more reliable sources based solely upon how they follow the research references that started at the Wikipedia page.

Students who want to write their own essay know how easy or difficult it can be to do. Nothing is ever easy for a student. Everything they do requires information, an ability to process that information, and an ability to transfer their thoughts to paper. Not all students are gifted that way. To be clear, there are 2 types of students:

1. Those who can write their own essays
2. Those who struggle with writing their own essays.

It is the number 2 type of student that keeps the academic writers in business. Believe it or not though, these students would like nothing more than to be able to write their papers in their own words. I should know, they often hire me to teach them how to research and how to write their essays. Sure they struggle to learn how to research. Most of them would not know how to use keywords for the SEO benefits it serves even if it bit them on the nose. However, once they learn how to research, writing the paper comes more easily.

Students can learn how to write their own essays. It isn't difficult. However, they need the guiding hand of a professional writer to help them become more comfortable with the rules of research and the requirements of essay writing. That is where a highly skilled academic writer can come in, and charge a hefty price for it.

I always negotiate a payment schedule with the clients. Not all of them can afford to pay in full upfront (My writers and I are guaranteed to be worth it.) and most of them ask for payment schedules to help them afford the payments. I tell them it all depends upon the turn around time for the paper. If the turn around time is too close, as in a few hours to 24 hours, then that is definitely a payment upfront case. If it is a one week deadline, then 2 payment installments are acceptable. The longest payment schedule I have is 4 equal installments. That is for the farthest possible deadline. During this time, they receive regular updates from their writers and a paragraph or so of the paper they paid for every time they complete a payment. When they complete the payment process, we send out the completed paper. This way trust is built on both ends, resulting in an easy and relaxed writing transaction.

General Talk / turnitin and plagiarism [28]

Going back to the original discussion, if the student opted to send only a paragraph or two of his original dissertation, which is a work in progress, then I doubt any plagiarism will be detected. The paper has not been completed and has not been submitted to any plagiarism detection software yet. Therefore, the total paper is not yet located in any database. So there is no chance that a cut and paste portion of a paper will come back as plagiarized. I do not think that any professor would submit a part of a dissertation to a database for plagiarism checking. The paper is not completed enough to warrant such a check yet.

It is never easy to assess the legitimacy of a writing company. So if you are asking for specific website references to safe academic writing sources, then you are asking us to help you find a needle in a haystack. You never know if the company actually had the writer develop an original paper for you or, if the writer was merely instructed to paraphrase an already existing paper for you to use. Playing the safe game in terms of plagiarism can only be done if you directly hire an independent writer and have him work on the fresh paper for you. That, I can guarantee you, will be the best way to avoid and plagiarism problems with your paper. Never hire a writing company with reservations. Never hire a writing company you cannot vet. Always hire an independent writer when you can. That is, in my opinion, the best way to avoid any plagiarism problems with your paper.

If a writer is already posting at this forum, then he has already taken the first step towards contacting students. He has already successfully eliminated the middle man since the students who come to this forum are looking to directly contact a writer. The OP may not have known it but he had already taken baby steps towards becoming an independent writer. While his grammar isn't ENL level, he can still get away with working for ESL students who English level is the same as his. No harm done provided he stick to his writing level. Who knows, he may even have improved his writing skills at this point so that he might eventually have qualified to write more complicated papers for his student base.

There are just way too many pages at this forum for the student to go through, even after using the search engine. So it would be more time efficient for them to simply ask the question again. On the writer side, allowing the student to ask the same questions over and over again gives them a chance to actually find potential clients easily. The same cannot be said for using the search box. It is all about student visibility and writer advertising. They can reach out to one another more easily when a question is repeated as opposed to reading old threads that may not be relevant to their writing needs.

I think what the OP was asking for was a writer who could come up with mock exam questions and responses that he could use as a part of his review tools. He did not mean to indicate that he wanted to help him cheat in the test. Nor did he indicate that he only needed notes made for him. What I understood was that he needed help reviewing for the exam. That is where exam notes can sometimes come in. Normally, the student already has an idea of what sort of test the professor tends to give. So he can create exam notes, based on that format, to help him anticipate possible questions and the best possible response that can be given. The only problem is, this being finance paper, computations may be involved. As such, it would be more difficult to make exam notes since formulas and computations vary per problem.

It sounds more to me like the OP could have claimed to have gotten outside professional help without a problem. While college students do have Writing Centers to go to and research advisers to consult, ESL students need extra help with grammar. Since the leader probably knew of the grammar issues of this student, and the student came clean and said he hired help with the paper, the leader saw nothing wrong with it. It just goes to show that the student was really working on getting the best marks that he could for the paper, even if he had to pay for extra help to achieve that goal. It isn't plagiarism to ask for help and be told or shown how to further improve the paper. The leader would have told him if he was in violation of anything since he is a graduating student and all.

These freelancing sites are all the same. They prey on both the writers and the clients. Earning on both ends through facilitator fees. If you really want to strike out on your own, without having to bid or worry about paying middleman fees, then simply sign up for one advertising services at this forum. That would be the best start for any writer. Eliminate the middleman, speak to the potential client directly, and finalize a deal. It isn't that hard to gain clients here, there is no bidding war to speak of. The writers battle it out based on work quality, not price. So the student is actually the winner in the end.

Paypal has made it very difficult for freelance workers to deal with them. Okay, freelance writers in particular. They are eagle eyed about any company or person that seems to be working on academic papers. There are actually alternative payment companies out there that writers can use. The companies do not discriminate against academic writers and have competitive seller and buyer protection to that of Paypal. Don't pigeon hole yourself into just one payment service. Spread yourself out. With all the safe, alternative, and a reliable digital money transfer out there, Paypal is no longer the dominant payment system in any business. not just in the academic writing field.

A web address that ends in .uk does not necessarily reflect the actual location of the site. The address can actually be bought to be reflective of any country the company wants to pretend to be located in. It should never be the sole proof of a company location. It is best to stay away from a company that uses a country based address, but then shows problematic copy writing on its website. I agree with @samclerk that the site shares several similarities with the Pakistan and India sites. However, I am more inclined to believe the company is coming out of Pakistan instead of India. Don't ask me why, I just have a feeling about this. Do not use the site if you can help it. Don't let their dirt cheap prices entice you. You will definitely be sorry, scammed, and stuck with a failing grade in the end.

That's why I have an answering service for client calls. Their job is to assure the client that the writer is on the job and their concerns will be addressed as soon as the writer is available. The writer will then send them an email to discuss their concerns. It is important to have a written record of the writer's dealings with the client for his, the company, and the client's protection in case of a chargeback. That is why my writers are never allowed to return a client call. Whatever for? The client cannot remember the instructions during a phone conversation. Neither should be expected to take notes like a secretary. Nope. If you want the writer to truly understand your instructions and implement it, send an email. He can refer to that as he writes the paper. Although, if the client gives the correct instructions the first time, there is really no need for additional contact between the client and the writer.

Writing Careers / What we know about Kenyan Writers [33]

Kenyan writers spun off from the "prince scams" and the "foreign blood relation" stupidity that used to rake in stolen money internationally for them. That was before they figured out that they could also pose as highly educated writers (two words that should never be used to describe a Kenyan writer) and keep the money without having to deliver anything of value to their clients. Kenyans cannot be trusted to work honestly when given an opportunity to work in a trust based system. Based on their public image, they are seen more as untrustworthy people who are capable of fleecing the innocent of their cash, without the innocent realizing it.

If a student wants to test the writer's ability before hiring him, then he can consider giving him a written test based on the actual assignment. You should be able to ask him to write a short essay based on a related topic. That should offer you a good enough idea as to his writing style, his ability to do correct research, and his actual English language abilities. This isn't rocket science. Simple tests will often result in results that will be more than helpful to the client. If you are lucky, he won't charge you for the sample essay.

Offering free essays will not result in a regular client base. You will however, end up with a bunch of other students wondering if they can get a test paper from you for an actual research paper. That is not exactly the best way to promote your services. It opens you up to student abuse since he will be able to boss you around and get a free paper out of it. Then you will feel really dumb for having started this badly conceptualized promotional stunt. If they don't get the grade they want, they will be pissed off. If they do get the grade they want? They won't even remember to thank you.

I agree that professors these days have become slackers. They have taken the easy route to teaching their classes because YouTube can pick up the slack. Class lectures? Have them read book chapters in class instead. Homework? Ask them to write an essay. They will do everything and anything to avoid having to actually teach a class. Even if it means passing on the job to their teaching assistant. Hopefully the emergence of online classrooms will change all that. Professors will finally be forced to actually do their jobs. Or so we hope.

There are actually some start up writing companies that see benefits from having paid reviews created for the site. Since the company is new and without a client base, they need to up their profile. The best way to up your profile? Get someone to advertise your site. Consider the reviews part of their influencing campaign. They do not mean to do any harm to other companies, nor are they out to poach clients. They are simply using the reviews to gain traction in the business. They entice clients to try them out the only way they know how, by influencing that decision through positive reviews on popular review sites. Before anybody gets on my case, no, not all these starting companies are scams. They are honest companies that just need a break. What makes it difficult to sue a writing company is the lack of factual information regarding the company. You cannot rely on the IP address, the physical address, the phone number, not even the chat operator, to reflect the actual location and ownership of the company. Before someone can file a suit, he needs to have evidence of wrongdoing, and a confirmed physical address to deliver the summons to. These cannot be provided in this instance so it would really seem like there is no possible way to initiate any legal action on the company. The only way to get around the block would be to hire a private detective to work the case, which this poster cannot afford to do. Wanna bet?

Sometimes the page count is also affected by the word program that was used to type up the paper. Word displays the page count differently from TextEdit or iWork. The display will also vary if the student uses a free word program like OpenOffice or Libre. I had a situation once where the students were actively claiming that I was shortchanging them on the page count. It turns out we were using different word processors, which were displaying the page count differently every time.

That was when I learned to install at least 2 word processing programs on my computer. I made sure to always double check the paper in both processing software, just to make sure I was delivering as expected. When I started doing that, I found my "page error" complaints started to dissipate. That is what I did until today, when MS word finally became the more dominant processing program for both Mac and OS computers. Now the complaints have ceased. My writers and I have not had to deal with page errors in over a decade.

An authorship procedure will only result in the student being booted out of his university, thus ending his future as a professional. The writer will never see a dime of the money from the chargeback. There is no way it can, or will ever happen. The only thing that the writer will get out of this practice is the satisfaction of knowing that he more harm than expected to the student, who is sure to be found guilty of academic dishonesty. The money? That's a loss. It goes into the losses column of the business register. It becomes a learning experience for both the writer and the student. The difference being, the writer can continue to make income and, he will have the opportunity to earn back the money lost somehow. The student? Well, it's kind of hard to recover from proven academic dishonesty. He will be hard pressed to find a school that will accept him after that goes on his record. So the undue chargeback? He will never forget how his greed tanked his chances of getting a real job with high pay. Unless he happens to be a genius of sorts who might be able to kickstart something for himself.

I think it is important to revive this thread in light of how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the academic writing field. I will admit that prior to the epidemic, the rates per page were constantly on the upswing, and the students could afford it. These days, the prices have been on the downtrend. Money is tight all around and the students have been affected by it as well. Their parents have had to tighten their belts because they have either been retrenched, furloughed, shuttered their businesses, or opened their business part-time. Whatever the reason, if the parents have a tight budget, the students can't spend the way they used to.

These days, it no longer matters if the company is in the 3rd world, in the first world, a legit company, or a shady one. Everyone is feeling the pinch, price adjustments are made to make the service more affordable. So, the industry scammers, they are also affected by the worldwide recession. Does that add to their legitimacy as well? Nope, but, it does make them experience equal business pans to that of the legitimate industry participants.

You should ask the company about their rights policies before you sign up. Each company has a specific set of rules covering the rights to the work created. You may be paying for rights to a paper that does not include the actual use of the paper for a grade. There may be restricted rights on your use of the paper as well. Company hired written work comes with too many strings attached. Hire a direct writer instead. They always transfer the rights to the paper and everything else related to it to the client upon submission. It's a pain free experience.

Actually proving the location of the writing company will be next to impossible to prove. Regardless of how well you manage to trace the IP, you cannot always be sure you are getting accurate information. Always accept the location of the company with a slight sense of doubt. These companies rarely tell the truth about their actual location. Sadly, there is no way to force it out of them either.

General Talk / How best to scan my essay? [15]

Do not trust any plagiarism checkers, do not ask companies to provide a plagiarism report, do not do anything that may result in your essay being pre-submitted to any service that your professor may or may not be using. Remember, the existence of your paper online, before you submit it, will be a red flag regarding not only the originality of the paper, but will plant the seed of suspicion in your professor's head. Did you hire someone to write your paper? Did you buy a model paper? Did you steal someone else's work? The questions would have been endless. It is better to never seek clarity on the originality of your paper and leave that checking task to the professionals. Do not do anything that would make the professor suspicious regarding the source of your paper. Do not scan the paper, it just isn't worth it.
